Absolutely beautiful, enormous house set in charming grounds in a perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

Our party - 23 adults and two young children - had the pleasure of staying at Burgie House in November 2017. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

The house is enormous - for example, it has four living rooms, a ceilidh room, a billiards room - comfortable and well-stocked. It is historic and truly grand. It's set in wonderful grounds and in a perfect location (<30 mins from Inverness airport, close to the Speyside distilleries, Cairngorms, beautiful beaches, etc).

The owners (the Lochore family) were incredibly helpful and took delivery of our wine and shopping orders in advance of our arrival. They also helped us organise clay pigeon shooting and other activities. Finally, they provided us with some delicious venison from the estate at a more than reasonable price.

They also put us in touch with caterers for one evening who did a really great job and who we would highly recommend. Robert Sheach (who can be contacted at rgs dot catering at yahoo dot com) provided us with a draft menu in advance consisting of dishes using local Scottish produce. On the day he and his team were professional and turned out really great food. We couldn't have asked for more.

Slight areas for improvement: the radiators in a couple of rooms didn't work (but had electric heaters to compensate for this) and some of the furniture could do with replacing (eg sofas in the main lilving room). But these are very minor points. Overall the house was spotless, warm, comforting and a simply brilliant place to go with a large group for a great holiday. We feel really lucky to have found it!

We would highly recommend it.

Wonderful Country Home in Speyside

  • 5 of 5

We rented the beautiful family home for a long special event weekend. The house is a family home with a lot of local history which we learned from Polly and Hamish (owners). They were very accommodating and fun to talk to. The house had everything we needed for causal and formal dinners, dance hall for Scottish musicians and dancing, and great space for socializing. We loved the time we spent at the Burgie House. The grounds are amazing -- Arboretum is a must see along with castle ruins from 1500's. Close to Forres and Elgin. Private, but easy to get to local scotch distilleries and attractions. We had a wonderful weekend. Rebecca, Seattle, USA

Great stay at the Burgie House!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the Burgie House. The house is nicely located. The house itself is big, clean and cosy. The nice fireplaces kept us warm at night, together with the Scottish Whisky.
