Fabulous place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house, garden, views, peace and wildlife. The area is perfect for walking with well marked ancient trails. Bruno was extremely helpful and friendly, telling us places we could visit and local amenities. Also always available in case we needed any help. The house itself was very comfortable, the bathroom having the best shower in the world! Also lots of basic supplies in the kitchen including hebs and spices making things simple for self caterers.

wild and private

  • 5 of 5

Lovely wild spot of boulders, broom and cork oaks, overlooking tumbling stream below. Choice of sunny patio or shady garden, with assured privacy. House is well equipped and comfortable, and Bruno is v helpful and has excellent English.

Our main interest was birds, which due to the terrain/vegetation are heard more than seen, including Golden Oriole, Bee-eaters, Hoopoe and Nightingale (all night in April!), plus almost daily Booted Eagle cruising overhead. Cross the nearby Spanish border for supreme raptor country (Griffon, Black and Egyptian vultures, Eagles etc).

Lovely house in gorgeous surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

My family, including two small children and their grandmother, had a fantastic time at this country house. The Alentejo countryside surrounding the cottage is stunning. Their are many beautiful walks to take from the house and interesting towns and sites to drive to nearby. If you are looking for an peaceful vacation where you can relax all day at home and also do some site seeing I highly recommend this place.

Dreamy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place to escape from the busy city life !

The house is beautiful, with a welcoming rustic feel and charming decoration. It's very comfortable and it truly feels like a home. I especially loved the outside area: amazing view, a charming little nook to have meals, a little swimming pool, very quiet surroundings... It's a perfect place to sunbathe, have barbecues with friends or watch the stars at night.

The house is surrounded by nature, great for walking and exploring, with a peaceful little river passing by.

The place is pet friendly, which is a big plus! We had a dog with us and he loved the stay as much as we did.

The host is very welcoming, always happy and helpful. We will come back for sure :)

A nice find with wonderful surprises in Sao Mamede area

  • 4 of 5

What a wonderful idiosyncratic place this is. One feels to be in the middle of nature, with rivers to either side of the house. At night there is zero light pollution so the stars are fantastic.

The barbeque is excellent, and the place has a fully equipped kitchen.

The house itself, filled with works of art does not feel like an impersonal holiday place but a home, and the host is tremendously helpful

The surrounding area is very good for walking.
