About Gill & Philip

Gill and Phil live in Somerset. They love the countryside, visiting Bath, holidays, music, singing and generally enjoying life.

Gill & Philip purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Gill & Philip chose Mendip (Glastonbury)

Gill was born just west of the Mendip Hills and has always loved the area. Both Phil and Gill love Bath and Holcombe is perfect for visiting both. The cottage itself is cosy and feels like a real home from home. We knew we wanted to buy it the second we stepped over the threshold and we are so pleased that we did.

Excellent cottage and location

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was very welcoming, having everything we needed and we felt very much at home.

The location was great for exploring Bath, which we loved so much that we visited twice during our stay! We also really enjoyed the safari and house at Longleat!

We found all the local people so friendly and enjoyed food and drink at the local pub. We would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage!

Thank you.

Beautiful, comfortable, well located cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a relaxing four night stay. The owners left a lovely welcome pack - a nice touch were colouring-in packs for the kids. Communication was fantastic - superquick and helpful. The place is very well set up for the kids - games, baby gates, a nice backyard and we read loads of kids books too.

The old store is very comfy and the kitchen is well set up (with everything you should need). There are your choice of local pubs within walking distance, and Shepton-Mallet is only a short drive if you want a bigger shop. Also only a short drive away is; Glastonbury Tor / Abbey; Bath; and Stonehenge. We also visited a few of the local cideries - there were tonnes of things we didn't fit in this time. We thoroughly enjoyed Gill and Phil's cottage and the surrounds - thanks!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was really comfortable and had everything we needed - a home away from home! It was very well presented and was an ideal location for us to explore Somerset and beyond. We enjoyed the village location. We have already recommended the cottage to family and friends! We would definitely return.

Beautiful cottage, perfect location, thoughtful owners

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (2 boys aged 7 and 10) had a fantastic week in The Old Store. It's a really lovely cottage and the owners have put real thought into how to make you feel at home - milk in the fridge on arrival was a very welcome touch!

The location is perfect for exploring the area - you're within easy reach of Bath, Wells, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Weston-Super-Mare, Bradford on Avon, Glastonbury Tor, Longleat - we did them all!

There are 2 great pubs to eat in in Holcombe itself - the Duke of Cumberland (a bit more low key but with good food and friendly staff) and the Holcombe Inn (more fine dining - with an interesting selection of homemade ice creams).

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place to anyone
