About the property

Second Floor apartment on popular complex, close to all amenities.

This apartment is situated within a popular complex in the old town, near to the harbour. There is a door code entry system to gain access, and in total there are 73 apartments.

The apartment comprises of an open plan kitchen / living area, bathroom and bedroom, all of which have been refurbished to a high standard. In February 2018, it was completely re-wired, and meets all legal specifications.

The balcony, which is south facing, is particularly spacious, and attracts the sun from early morning, until late afternoon. It is equipt with a table and chairs, and two sunbeds (pads provided).

The apartment is well equipt, with an iron, ironing board, kettle, hob, microwave, grill, and more than adequate pots, pans, crockery, cutlery etc..

There is a flat screen television, which includes a TV package. All major UK and Ireland television channels are available, including BBC, ITV, RTE, Sky Sports, BT Sports, Sky Movies etc. (approx. 150 channels in total).

There is also a movie club with approximately 2500 movies to choose from. Wifi is available in the apartment for guests only.

The bathroom is bright and modern, has a nice walk in shower, and is equipt with a hairdryer. Hand and bath towels are provided, however we suggest you take your own beach towels.

The bedroom has two comfortable beds, and adequate storage space, and as it is at the rear of the apartment, it generally remains fairly cool at night. There is a safe located within the cupboard.

The apartment has no air conditioning, however there is a good fan, which will keep you cool during the warmest days.

There is no housekeeping on a daily basis, however if you are staying more than 7 nights, all your bedding and towels will be changed, and every 7 nights thereafter, for those staying for longer periods.

The pool is a good size, and is well maintained. It is cleaned daily, as are the surrounding communal areas.The pool is not generally heated during the winter months.

Although very quiet at night, the apartment is close to all amenities, including various pubs and restaurants, both in the old town, and the main tourist strip.

The harbour is about a five minute walk, and the main beach a further five minutes away.

Immediately outside the complex is a "Superdino". It has recently undergone a refurbishment, and has pretty much everything you will need, including an excellent "Fresh" counter. The prices are amongst the cheapest on the island.

If you intend to hire a car while on holiday, there are no parking facilities on the complex, and theres limited street parking outside, however just a couple of minutes away, there is plenty on street parking available.

There is a bus stop situated about 200 yards from the complex, making it easy to get around the island. You can visit Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise, Playa Honda or even nip over to Fuerteventura on the ferry.

The price is inclusive of the safe, TV package and Wifi, so there are no additional costs.

The owners have compiled a small booklet with recommendations for restaurants, pubs, things to do etc, which is based on their own experiences, and those of other guests. The list is by no means exhaustive, however, if you have not been to Puerto del Carmen, it will give you an idea of what is available to you during your visit.

About Cameron and Claire Shanks

Cameron and Claire are both from Falkirk, in Central Scotland. Claire works in a Tesco Superstore in the Falkirk area, and Cameron is a retired police officer, and is now employed in a civilian role, training new officers.

They have four children, all in their twenties, and all enjoy holidaying on the island.

Cameron and Claire have been travelling to Lanzarote for several years, and absolutely love the atmosphere on the island, not to mention the all year sunshine.

They try to get over as often as possible throughout the year, and when they do, they like their home comforts. Thats the atmosphere they try to create for their guests, and feedback has been very positive to date.

The property is maintained by Dean and Gill, at Sovereign Property Management. They do an outstanding job in looking after the apartment and keeping it spotlessly clean.

Cameron and Claire searched for the perfect property within their price range. This apartment stuck out head and shoulders above the rest in the price range.

Its situated on a well maintained and popular complex in the Old Town, which is an ideal base for your holiday in Puerto del Carmen. Its very quiet at night, but is very near to the many bars and restaurants that the resort has to offer.

What makes this apartment unique

The communal areas within the complex are particularly well maintained. The pool is large, well maintained and is cleaned on a daily basis.

The apartment itself is a fairly good size for a one bedroomed property. It has a particularly large balcony which is a bit of a suntrap.

One of the main benefits of the apartment and indeed the complex itself, is the fact that it is very quiet at night, but is very close to many restaurants and pubs, where there is basically something for everyone,

Well equipped, clean and safe apartment in Old Town with great sunny balcony

This was our first time staying in a privately owned apartment so I was a bit nervous about booking. After my initial online enquiry Cameron (the owner) phoned me and I was instantly reassured. He was very helpful from start to finish and was always quick to respond to any queries I had.

The written arrival instructions were clear and easy to follow. Cameron even includes instructions on how to work the TV, which has a lot of good channels/radio. We dont tend to watch TV while on holiday but it was ideal for some background music while sitting on the sunny balcony.

On arrival (taxi from airport was 16€) I was pleased to see that the apartment was just as it looked in the photos plus a complimentary bottle of wine (thanks)! For me the two most important things from a holiday apartment is that it is safe and clean and this apartment ticked both of these boxes and more.

The bedroom is located at the back of the property and is dark and cool with adequate wardrobe space with a safe and a full length mirror. Beds were very comfortable and as someone who is usually awake at the crack of dawn I managed to sleep better than I do at home.

The bathroom is clean with a large walk in shower with glass shower screen. This was great news for me because I have a fear of shower curtains!! The hairdryer is also good and not the powerless type that you normally get. We were left 2 nice bath towels for our 5 night stay, which was fine but 4 would have been even better.

The living/kitchen area is large and bright with everything needed. We like to eat out on holiday and Puerto Del Carmen has loads of really nice and reasonably priced places to eat so we rarely used the kitchen but it was very well equipped should we have wanted to.

The balcony is large with sunloungers and gets the sun all day. Ideal for relaxing!

We never used the pool area but from the balcony it looked very peaceful and well kept as did the communal areas.

The apartment is located in the old town. It's about 6 minutes walk downhill to the harbour and about 15 mins walk to the start of the main strip. For eating out I recommend the lasagne in Pinocchios (middle of main strip) and the steak in Maritonis (main strip).

To summarise, great apartment with everything you need, good value for money, clean and safe, large sunny balcony, very helpful owner. We really enjoyed it and hope to return one day.

A winter in summer

A second time in December in Cammie and Claire's apartment. Clean well equipped and comfortable. Although in the Old Port, it is central to all activities and great eateries. Packaged TV is a great plus when weather turns that bit inclement. Enjoyed also, the cheap bus transport of buses to the various resorts near to Puerto deal Carmen.

One additional extra we. Tried was pre booking transport from airport to the apartment. We used Sun transfers and they were superb. Took the stress of thinking of travel to and from the airport to apartment - especially a 5.10 am pick up. Great holiday.

Great location, apartment is really home from home

We are just back from an break in Cameron and Claire’s apartment, which are situated in an excellent location within the old town (approximately 5 mins walk to the harbour and 10 mins walk to the beach and strip). The complex has immaculate grounds, a large swimming pool and numerous sun beds. Immediately outside the complex is a supermarket (Super-Dino) and numerous restaurants. The apartment is very modern and spacious and spotlessly clean with the added bonus of Sky tv and Wifi. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here and would recommend to others. We will definitely stay here again in the future. Thank you Cameron and Claire.

A perfect apartment for a relaxing break👍

This was our first time staying in the old town and we had a fabulous time. I must admit when the taxi dropped us off and indicated for us to go up the slope towards the green door I was a bit worried. But!!! On opening the door we found ourselves in a clean well maintained small complex with a huge pool. Number 314 was spotlessly clean and provided us with everything we might need for a week’s holiday. Our first impression of the apartment was great and the best thing was how bright and spacious the lounge/diner was, the light flooded the room from morning until night. The attention to detail was pleasing - towel and tea towel art and a specially made cushion for the remotes. The apartment is filled with good quality furnishings; unlike others we have previously used in the past. The balcony overlooks the pool and it gets the sun all day. The sunbeds on the balcony were a bonus especially when the weather was a bit changeable, it gave us the opportunity to have a cup of tea or a G&T without having to walk too far. The TV package was also a bonus - not that we stayed in to watch it when you are surrounded by so many bars and restaurants.

I found one of the most relaxing things was not having to do a ‘sunbed dash’ at the crack of dawn just to secure a bed. We could wander down at any time and be sure of having somewhere to sit. Everyone was very friendly. If there was one thing that could have improved our pool side experience, it would been a mattress for the sun lounger. I liked having the option to sit on a chair at a table, which was important for some older guests and those less able.

The apartment is in a perfect position to explore the old town and the harbour and an easy walk into Puert del Carmen. It is on a bit of a hill but my parents aged 77 and 81 managed it. The taxi rank is just at the bottom of the hill and the Biosphere is a 5 minute walk, this contains numerous shops including designer brands and Zara.

The supermarket is less than a minute from the apartment, it contains an extensive range of produce including; fresh meat,cheeses,fresh fruit and vegetables and a bakery. There is really no need to venture any further.

There are so many places to eat and drink whether you want to walk for 1 minute or 1 hour and also lots to do if your feeling more adventurous.

It was a pleasure to use Cameron and Claire’s apartment, they were great hosts who were always available to answer any questions prior to our holiday. We will be back 😊

Fantastic Apartment

Excellent apartment in a perfect location between the marina and the main strip. No problems with gaining access and even managed to arrange a late check out for us on our departure day.

Will definitely stay here on our return to Lanzarote next year.
