About Tony & Pauline Severs

We have just realised our dream of buying a beautiful home in Brittany after living and working in the city all our lives. We often holidayed in Brittany when our children were young and loved the relaxed way of life, the friendliness of the locals, the mild climate and of course the food.

Tony & Pauline Severs purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Tony & Pauline Severs chose Crédin

Rose and Lavender Gites are beautiful Breton stone cottages set in a quiet rural location with lovely views of the surrounding countryside, yet, close enough to all amenities. This area is typical of rural France and is ideal for walking and cycling. The Brest-Nantes canal is a short stroll away and has clean, safe cycle and walking paths for miles. Nearby are a number of lovely medieval towns, Josselin, Rochefort en Terre, Pontivy and the regional capital Vannes and the Rennes are all a short drive away.

What makes this cottage unique

The location of the cottages are ideal for exploring beautiful Brittany. The ferry ports at St Malo and Roscoff are less than 2 hours away as well as local airports at Rennes, Dinard and Nantes, making it an easy journey from England. The beautiful southern Brittany beaches such as Quiberon and L'Orient and the amazing standing stones at Carnac are all about an hour's drive away. Nearer still is Lac au Duc a large inland swimming lake and beach with a range of water-sports and sailing as well as a public golf course which is an easy 20 minute drive away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have just returned from a week in a most lovely part of France. We combined trips to sizzling hot beaches, inland lake, and beautiful countryside with sunbathing in the garden. We visited a lovely chateau at Jossilin and wandered along gorgeous canals, which were everywhere and so pretty but restful. The abbe is a 10 minute walk up the road and is also a nice visit. The gite is spotless and has lovely comfortable beds and sofas and was nicely equipped for our party. All towels and bedding were provided, thus saving on the luggage. The owners, Pauline and Tony were friendly, attentive and informative. They came to meet us for the last km of the journey when we arrived. They left a welcome pack which was great to get us started. it seemed that nothing was too much trouble and our teenager enjoyed hiring one of the available brand new bikes for rides along the canal path. All in all it was a great base to experience Brittany with views that made us want to stay there and not come home

A perfect base from which to explore Brittany.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Rose cottage for a week and if you're looking for a quiet location from which to explore the delights of Brittany would thoroughly recommend it. A quiet, easy to access location with great countryside views and easy access to amenities. The property is well placed by the canal cycle path (worth taking your bikes!) with the local town of Rohan a leisurely 15 minute ride away, or slightly further in the opposite direction to the town of Josselin, whilst the fantastic south coast beaches are only an hours drive away. The property retains its traditional characteristics and is both comfortable and well equipped. Our 10 year old son enjoyed the outdoor space and soon made friends with the resident hens!

Charming gîte and wonderful hosts

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Rose Cottage. The gîte is well equipped and beautifully furnished in a picture perfect location.

We used the gite as a base to explore the region and weren't disappointed. Particular highlights were St Goustan, Carnac and Vannes. Further afield the Pink Granite Coast is stunning - we spent a wonderful day exploring the many coves and villages that make up the coast.

Closer to home our daily walk with our puppy along the canal otter spotting was enjoyed by all. Peaceful and scenic.

The Crêperie in Rohon was superb and became a firm favourite with our children.

Pauline and Tony were great hosts - welcoming, discreet but available if we needed them with lots of tips on things to do and see. The children loved the chickens and were delighted to help find the eggs!!

We would thoroughly recommend both Gîtes and would be happy to return in the future.

Excellent Gite near the Brest/Nantes Canal

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our short break staying in Rose Cottage with a warm welcome from Pauline and Tony. The gite is very well equipped and very comfortable. We stayed in Rose Cottage but Lavender Cottage looks equally as good. We liked the fact that the gites are only a 10 minute walk to the canal and cycling along the canal was a joy. The countryside is very scenic for walking or cycling with small and friendly bars/restaurants along the way. The local towns have all the shops you need for your stay. We can truly recommend staying at these gites and the whole area is delightful. We hope to return and will stay longer next time.

Lovely and quiet

  • 5 of 5

Tony and Pauline are very helpful, they live next door if you need them but they don't bother you at all.

The location is very quiet, the canal is close for walks/cycling.

There is an abundance of wildlife.

The cottage is a good size.

Beds are comfortable.

Great place to have a relaxing holiday.

We as a couple stayed here in August 2016 and were taken aback by just how pretty and rural the surrounding area is yet close enough to tourist sites and the all important beach within an hours idyllic drive. The hosts were great and the place spotless. Loved the place and will visit again next year but for a longer period.

Property well maintained, all facilities as specified.

  • 4 of 5

Overall experience was good, property as description, although no wifi until last day. Owners very helpful doing anything required. Ideal for people who want peace and quiet and like cycling as canals are close. I would say not suitable for teenagers as not enough access to technology and no evening activities in area. Definitely need a car and good maps. Directions to gite need improving, need to be more specific. Very enjoyable stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for submitting your review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us. The area is perfect for cyclists and golfers and as you enjoyed lovely weather you were able to get out and about every day to explore this beautiful area of France. sorry it took a while to get the wifi sorted out, although living in the country side with thick stone walls its not going to be super fast, luckily there are plenty of other compensations.

Abbaye du Timadeuc is a lovely cistercine monastery just 5 minutes from the house. It is open to the public for mass or just a look around. It has a shop selling its own range of homemade cheeses and other items.
