The Mayflower - centrally located and close to the beach
We spent 2 weeks in July/August 2018 and overall we were very happy with the accommodation (we were in apartment no. 20) and facilities. There are 20 apartments, a mixture of studios (one bed) and 2 bed apartments on either the ground or first floor, all have some form of terrace. I imagine if the complex was at full capacity, there may be a struggle to find a lounger or space around the pool, although there was a grassy area outside our apartment (by the pool) which would have created additional space. The apartment was spotless and had everything needed for 2 weeks away. The bedding and towels were changed every other day and the apartment cleaned at the same time. The complex is located within just a couple of minutes walk of supermarkets, bars and restaurants and 15 minutes walk from the beach. Diana and Spiros (the owners) were wonderful and were always around should you have any questions, or to offer advice. The only criticism we had was due to noise from a couple of local dogs and the cockerel living closeby, which unfortunately did disturb our sleep on a couple of occasions.

Home From Home
What a wonderful surprise to find such a pleasant clean comfortable apartment with a great pool for a very reasonable price. The honesty box in reception was great and allowed you to get the basics, snacks before your first trip to a local supermarket. Loads of information and even a little book collection for you to borrow. Staff are pleasant and always greet you with a smile. We will be back as this is as I remember Corfu back in the 80’s unspoilt and really welcoming. Was this review helpful? Yes

Ideal retreat
We really enjoyed our stay at The Mayflower. There was plenty of shade on either front or rear balconies (perfect for relaxing and reading) and a very nice pool for getting some sun and cooling off. Nice little touches such as a fridge by the poolside, items for sale that saved a walk to the shops, figs we could help ourselves to (many thanks!), etc. The gardens are lovingly cared for, and trees and plants help create shade. The apartments felt like a return to the Greece of old. A walk to the old town found some very nice tavernas, our favourite being the Bella Vista for its views. Moraitika beach and sea front wasn't so much to our taste (but that's a personal view). If returning I would hire a car (driving license required) for getting to and from the airport as the taxi isn't cheap and the buses complicated. The worth keeping the car for a few days for access to some of the nicer beaches and sites around the Island. Diana is a font of knowledge and can recommend where to go depending on your needs. The boat trip to the blue lagoon and mainland was really good value - especially for those who enjoy swimming/snorkeling. Corfu old town is beautiful, and there is a hop on/off bus for visiting places like the old fort.
