In 1790 Seaview Cottage, was a simple fisherman's residence, and is now a cosy and delightful one bedroom garden apartment with a spacious garden patio offering you superb sea views and alfresco dining. This well maintained and fully equipped property is a short walk to Ilfracombe's busy harbour still with an active fishing community. The Harbour is home to Damien Hirst's famous statue, Verity. A SUPERB piece of Craftsmanship which is a subject of conversation with everyone who has seen her. It is ours for 20 years, loaned by Damien Hirst who has a fondness for this beautiful North Devon area, and who now lives locally. Damien has a harbour side wine bar/restaurant offering great food and the best of views too. Relax with a coffee and watch the activity of the sailing enthusiasts working on their crafts.

Ilfracombe's aquarium is also a unique spot to enjoy a coffee on the balcony and all the comings and goings of The Oldenburg Ship on it's daily trips to Lundy Island. If island life appeals, perhaps you may be tempted too, or take a trip along the stunning coastline in one of the local boats. Don't miss out if you enjoy fishing, you can fish from The Quay or from the well equipped vessels manned by experienced local fishermen. Be sure to take a woolly jumper as it is always cooler on the water.

Seaview Garden Apartment is tucked away in a secret garden away from the main road and yet so very near to everything that will give you access to anything you want to get involved in. For example; The High Street and Fore Street restaurants are just two - three minutes walk away, with interesting shops and art galleries, the Seafront Tea Gardens offer tempting choices for lunch with of course, a scrumptious Devon Cream Tea later on. If you have a very special date to celebrate, Ilfracombe now boasts a new Michelin Star Restaurant in Fore Street, The Olive Room, alongside the other specialised seafood restaurants, but if Italian, Indian, Spanish, Chinese or traditional local food are on your list, this is the town to tempt you to enjoy locally caught fresh fish! The new Black Sands onThe Seafront is so popular that booking is essential. Check it out before you arrive on your break.

Boat trips are available every day to view this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty along the coastline, and great fishing trips are available daily too. The Catch of The Day is on offer in local pubs and restaurants, and Maddy's is very popular for good old fish and chips.

THE PROPERTY: Newly refurbished and all on one level it has a large patio, a pretty garden, super BBQ, and a selection of garden furniture including a new and inviting garden swing. The spacious patio garden now overlooks our reclaimed orchard with a surviving 100 year old (plus?) apple tree which was exposed when 20 plus years of neglect and overgrown shrubbery was cut away revealing the walls with their Victorian Training Wires still in place.

The pretty double bedroom with vintage furniture, has good storage and a very comfortable bed. All linen is supplied including towels and if you stay more than a week, your linen is changed of course.

The newly decorated lounge has a very comfortable Knowle sofa, cosy leather armchair; and the attractive feature fireplace is useful for cooler evenings; round pine dining table with dining chairs; a large flat screen TV with Freeview and good choice of DVDs; radio and CD's, and a bookcase offering a varied selection of books and novels for whiling away a relaxing afternoon on the garden swing!

The kitchen has everything you need for self catering, with a fast Ceramic Hob; fan oven; coffee maker; fridge/freezer; microwave; dishwasher and washing machine. Fully equipped with crockery, pots and pans plus utensils. Should we have missed anything, please do ask.

The Cloakroom and separate Shower Room have heated towel rails.

Seaview offers good access to local Blue Flag beaches, with Woolacombe Beach just 4 miles away and voted Best Beach in the whole of Europe in 2016. The Tunnels Beach in Ilfracombe offers safe sea bathing with a great cafe for coffee, snacks and ice cream. With good Coastal Walks and Exmoor on the doorstep you will be spoiled for choice. A day spent in the lovely soft, North Devon sea air, rated among the best in England, is often claimed by our guests as the answer to a restful night's sleep! The lovely comfortable bed helps too we often hear!

Pay a visit to our local theatre on the seafront, The Landmark, with full entertaining programmes of Summer shows, and with the multi screen cinema on the High Street offering all the very latest movies there is entertainment for all tastes.

Enjoy a day out sightseeing and return to Seaview for that BBQ, a glass or two on the patio and the beautiful sunsets we are blessed with here in North Devon, end your day perfectly.

About Anne & Graham Symonds.

As I have always loved the coast, retirement seemed the right time to make that longed for wish and I moved to North Devon. Every day looking out across the water never ceases to delight with yachts and ships sailing back and forth. The signal from Saint Nicholas lighthouse strikes it's blue light all night long telling sailors they are almost home. The lively pretty harbour is a constant hive of activity with the catch of the day unloading and boat owners working on their sailing craft in readiness for another busy season.

I have lived here in North Devon for 18 years and in that time my husband and I have rejuvenated a sad, forgotten fruit orchard neglected for over 20 years, but now bearing an Autumn harvest. We furnished cosy Seaview Garden Apartment with antique and vintages pieces and it now accommodates 2/3 guests.

Without fail holidaymakers marvel at the view across to the Welsh Coast as I still do, and enjoy the wonderful sunsets. I have made my dream a reality to live by the coast and Ilfracombe has so much to offer all age groups so we have friends of all ages now.

Seeing that view when I turned the corner from Portland St, made up my mind before even viewing the property. The garden was drowning in weeds and so un-loved, but the worst was the orchard as it had disappeared from view under huge brambles and was being used as a local dumping ground by lazy people!

It HAD to be rescued and the view was priceless, so it became a project of a lifetime. There is always something calling for needy attention, but that is why I have a retired builder for a brilliant reliable maintenance man. It Also Helps That We Happen To Be Husband and Wife!!

What makes this apartment unique

The surprise of a hidden garden with stunning views and the orchard below was just too tempting to ignore. The lovely sunsets were such a bonus and you can't put a price on a STUNNING view!

Coastal walks and beautiful Exmoor beckon walkers of all abilities. Our great local bus services take you around the area at your ease. Barnstaple is easily reached in 20 minutes and THE PANNIER MARKET has daily market stalls to tempt you. Wednesday is popular with hunter for Antiques and Collectables, but get there before 3pm for the best on offer before they get snapped up! So garage the car in the rental garage and use the bus to explore!

The apartment is all one level everything you need is available lovely views on the patio over to the Harbour and out to sea. The hosts Anne & Graham were lovely to meet very freindly not in your face but on hand if you needed anything. Spotlessly clean very cosy lovely bedroom with really comfy bed a lot of attention to detail in the Kitchen, lounge and Bedroom will definitely be recommending to our friends.

Little Tigger was a darling! XX We would love to see you all again. If you are looking for comfortable easy to use accommodation, we have it here, plus the stunning views are a bonus. There is always so much going on in and around Ilfracombe you will be spoiled for choice, but if you just want to enjoy a quiet spell that is on offer too. Parking is easy now that we have secured a garage nearby, but anyone with a Blue Badge can park free at all times in the street.

Beautifully scenic, cosy cottage

Lovely little home away from home. The cottage has everything you need for your stay and the owners are lovely and very helpful! We highly recommend.

We had our dogs with us and they loved the patio and orchard area. All very secure so didn’t need to worry about any escaping dogs

Wonderful Stay over New Year

We enjoyed a wonderful 4 night stay between Christmas and New Year. Anne and Graham were very welcoming hosts. The apartment was very well equipped and very cosy - perfect for the damp weather outside. Location was perfect only a five minute walk down into Ilfracombe where there is an abundance of lovely pubs and restaurants. We look forwrad to returning in the Spring/Summer when we can make use of the lovely patio area and exlpore more of this lovely part of the world.

Less than 5 minutes walk takes you to Fore St where your choice of restaurants is between Tapas, Seafood or even Michelin Star!

Lovely cosy apartment with great views

This was a lovely apartment that is well furnished / decorated and has a lovely cosy feel, with everything you need for either a short or long break. It is well located with just a short walk to Ilfracombe high street and harbour, and has great views out to sea. Anne and Graham were both very welcoming to myself, my partner and our dog. Would not hestitate recommending this place to others, or returning again in the future.

Cosy interior with amazing views outside. Good space outside for our dog!

The property was all you could ask for our few days break. Well furnished, comfortable and well equipped. The weekend was ghastly with regard to the weather but we felt quite satisfied and all you would need inside the cottage. The great advantage having an outdoor space for our dog to wander around was all you could ask.

There are many super beaches in the area. Surfing is popular as the most invigorating of water sports at Saunton Sands,Putsborough, Croyde and the beach voted the best in Europe in 2016, Woolacombe, less than 5 miles from here. There is also an indoor swimming pool less than a half mile from our holiday cottage.

A great farmer's market every week offers superb local produce and is highly recommended.

Walking on beautiful Exmoor beckons, or do an easier Coastal walk. Stunning.

There are so many good restaurants here in Ilfracombe offering local produce and fresh-caught catch of the day fish, plus The Olive Room is a Michelin Star restaurant in Fore St. People travel from other parts of Devon because of the choice and quality of our restaurant menus! Got to try local food on holiday! Our locally brewed cider is a must try. You will want more of this amber liquid, such a delicious and refreshing drink.

Try a trip to Lundy Island and see the puffins that have now returned to the island. A welcome sight. There are many local trips available along this protected coastline Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to spot seals, and dolphins if you are fortunate.

A local 11th Century Manor House, stunning CHAMBERCOMBE MANOR is an absolute must is you enjoy history, antique furniture and stories of a rather spooky nature involving this famous haunted house. I personally have experience of it! Don't forget to say "you cannot come with me" or you may find you have a spirited visitor around!!! (FACT.)

Many of the local restaurants are just a short walk away so you will be spoiled for choice from Tapas to Michelin Star, and Fore Street is where it's at!!! The oldest pub in the area in the George and Dragon, in use by the locals long before the Tudor or Elizabethan age. A Great Atmosphere and just a minute's walk to the harbour area.
