Overview

About the property

4/5 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom Detached House By The Sea With A Private Cinema

Our beautiful luxury family home is well equipped and perfectly placed for visiting any part of Cornwall. The house has amazing views from its clifftop location out over the sea. At the end of the garden is a gate that leads directly on to the coast path which takes you straight into Mevagissey or towards Pentewan, or you can take the long flight of steps directly down on to Polstreath Beach - a gorgeous secluded cove that remains almost deserted even in the summer. From the beach you can swim, climb rocks, explore rockpools or just sunbathe and watch the fishing and pleasure boats coming and going from Mevagissey Harbour.

The house is equipped with an impressive cinema system. It has a three metre wide screen and professional standard audio equipment that will leave you feeling as if you are in the movie! We also supply hundreds of DVDs for you to choose from including loads of movies, documentaries, children's films and music DVDs.

Mevagissey village centre is a 5-10 minute walk either along the coastpath or down the road, and once in the village there are loads of good pubs and restaurants as well as an aquarium and lots of shops and boat trips for fishing or sightseeing. You can also catch the ferry across to beautiful Fowey, or even rent your own boat for the day.

The house itself is reverse-level to take advantage of the sea views which are visible from almost every room in the house. It is also filled with original artworks, mostly by local artists.

The front door is 'upstairs' and on this floor you will find:

Hallway with artwork (note there are single steps up to both kitchen and breakfast area):

Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, double oven and gas hob. Open hatch (sea views) to:

Breakfast room with access to the courtyard garden with BBQ and sea views

Living room with 3 comfy sofas, large chaise lounge, stereo system, TV/DVD/Sky and stunning sea views, with direct access via huge patio doors to the glass-enclosed balcony with table and benches and sun loungers.

Large dining room with sea views and patio door to conservatory.

Single step up to: Large conservatory with two comfortable chairs and another dining table and spectacular sea views, also with access to the 26 sq metre balcony

Huge vault ceiling master bedroom with 6 ft SuperKing bed, sea views, direct access to the courtyard garden and a modern en-suite shower room.

Cloak room with WC

Children's Bedroom with 2 bunkbeds (only suitable for children)

Utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and large sink.

Downstairs you'll find:

Large double room with modern en-suite shower room, sea views, extensive storage, double patio doors to the garden

Double room with sea views from double patio doors and direct access to the garden.

Cinema - this room has a massive fixed 3metre x 1.2 metre screen with a professional projector and sound system, and seating for seven (additional chairs can fit in). There's a huge collection of DVDs. This room also has a high quality double sofa bed if you wish to use it as a bedroom too.

Large marble family bathroom with a jet shower, marble sink and huge infinity spa bath with mood lights.

The house has a large enclosed rear garden which leads directly on to the South West coast path. The house is down a private drive shared only with two other properties, and there is parking for up to 7 cars. The house has central heating and double-glazing throughout.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are 5 minutes drive away and the Eden Project is 20 minutes away. There are countless things to do in the area and it is well-placed to explore any part of Cornwall. We think that once you arrive you won't want to leave the house though!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beautifully appointed house with wonderful and inspiring views. Everything we needed was here. The location couldn't have been better, so close to the centre of Mevagissey where we were welcomed everywhere. 'Tea on the Quay" offered delightful service and delicious food, as did the Ship Inn and the Harbour Tavern... Fresh fish! The harbour area was perfect for our 'artistic endeavors'. We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much for the opportunity to share such a lovely home.

Great base to explore Cornwall - beautiful house.

  • 5 of 5

Thanks for a fantastic stay. House is in a unique location and beautifully maintained. A short stroll into Mevagissey which has lots to offer and plenty to do by way of a short road trip.

House was plenty big for our 3 families of 6 adults and 5 kids.

Would also recommend a day out in (very) nearby Helligan - especially for families.

Thanks Sue!

John and extended family

Beautiful well equipped large family house with the most spectacular coastal views over the sea.

  • 4 of 5

The property is ideal for a family group, plenty of space without being on top of each other and equipped for large family catering. Plenty of seating and table space for meals. The large windows throughout the house mean there is always an amazing views out over the sea, which really wow. We were a group of 2 adults, 44, 43. 4 young adults 22,20, 19, 18 and teenager 15. The cinema room was popular with teenagers and very well stocked with variety of Films for every taste. The walk into Mevagissey was a 5 min stroll across cliff path, although a bit of a climb back if anyone more elderly or injured with you. Fish and chips in Mevagissey very good. The Kingswood restaurant 5 m drive towards St. Austell did the most amazing meals, we went back for a second time during the week. Bird food left for us to feed the birds which was nice. The only slight complaint was there were a few housekeeping issues as in light bulbs out, but easily rectified. There is also a large roof window in the master bedroom with no blind, which means very light and airy if you like early starts, however, we found no blind and 5am sunlight streaming in over heads a bit of a negative whilst on Holiday as light sleepers. There were plenty of beds, bedding, towels, with all needs considered. On the whole a lovely family friendly house to stay, plenty of books, toys, seats, well equipped kitchen, and most stunning views over the Cornish coastline. The balcony with seating was used permanently by us for meals overlooking bay as the weather was sunny, lounger provided for sun bathing, reading etc. The beach below is a steep climb down and back, not for the faint hearted, but well worth it. All enjoyed swimming in the sea and a lovely quiet beach, only a couple of other people to share it with.

Lovely house in a great setting

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five adults and a one year old really enjoyed our stay at West Paddock. It is an easy 10 minute walk into Mevagissey, and a little longer back, along the SW Coastal Path. There is plenty of room for everyone and the cinema room is amazing (very useful on damp days).

Great house, perfect location.....

  • 5 of 5

Can we really add anything to previous reviews? Booked for a family holiday, and the four bedrooms - three with either en suite bathrooms or next to the main bathroom - were very welcome. The view is simply fantastic. Overall the house had everything we wanted and it was really great to be so close to the coastal path and to be able to use this to nip into "Meva" whenever we wanted.

Owner Sue was really helpful, even providing toys for the grandchildren!

Arrived in driving rain but the weather picked up beautifully: which meant we focussed on walks and the beach, rather than holing up in the fantastic cinema room.

But we mustn't be too enthusiastic..... as we hope to be back sometime, and we don't want to find it's fully booked the whole year!!

Many thanks, Sue

Expectations Exceeded

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful house with everything you could want plus more .. this is an impressive house set on the cliffs of the coastal path looking out to the sea .. very large secure garden that the whole family and dogs loved .. I bought food for the bird table before realising that there was a massive store jam packed with the necessary seed and to my delight took some fantastic close up photos of a bullfinch, family of goldfinches plus sparrows, tits, robins, blackbirds and the greedy wood pigeon .. very peaceful. The cinema room is an experience not to be missed .. sound and picture quality were brilliant .. guide to house has all you need to know. We love Mevagissey and have stayed up on the other side of the harbour in a pretty town house no but this house totally exceeds every expectation. We had elderly parents stay with us who both have mobility disabilities but they also loved the house .. so much seating choices .. there something for everyone here and we all ( parents 76/77 daughter and partner age 25 and ourselves age 48/51 ) absolutely loved it. Dogs had a great Holliday too. If you're fortunate enough to be able to book this house ... please do so BUT !!! Please look after it as we all want to go back .. 3-10th June 2017 ( ohhh weather was very English but it didn't deter us from having a great time) thank you

Car: recommended

'The Lost Gardens of Heligan' is a 5 minute drive from our house and 'The Eden Project', 20 minutes. There is a health and fitness centre in the village. Mevagissey is a pretty little village and is still home to one of Cornwall's small fishing fleets. A regular boat ferry service runs throughout the summer to Fowey, the beautiful setting of Daphne de Maurier's novels, and this makes a lovely day out without needing to take the car.
