About Emma Hamilton-Shaw

My husband grew up on the Norfolk Coast and introduced me to it when we met. I immediately fell in love with the area and we spend as much time as possible there at our home (which is near Lark House). We both work in London so there's nothing better than heading to Burnham Market, knowing you have lovely days ahead, walking on the miles of stunning beach, exploring the local galleries and shops and eating wonderful local fare at the pubs along the coast.

Emma Hamilton-Shaw purchased this house in 2013

Why Emma Hamilton-Shaw chose King's Lynn

Lark house is a very special property that we had always admired for its perfect proportions, village location and proximity to the stunning North Norfolk beaches. When the opportunity came up to buy it, we jumped at the chance to turn our dream of having a holiday home rental into reality.

We wanted to create an outstanding holiday home with amazing interiors and everything our guests would need for a relaxing holiday retreat. This wasn't just going to be a 'standard holiday rental', it was going to have style, charm and beauty.

We completely renovated the house and carefully designed each room to create a stylish and luxurious aesthetic. We wanted people to arrive and say, 'wow', and to our delight, that's exactly what some of the lovely comments have said in our guest book.

The house has a great balance of good sized bedrooms, bathrooms and living space as well as a large garden and gravel drive. It is ideal for families or small groups of friends. Lark house is the perfect base to explore the North Norfolk coast and we often have repeat guests who choose to make it their own special holiday home, returning every year.

What makes this house unique

Lark House is located on one of the most sought after roads in Burnham Market, just off the Village Green. It is ideal for exploring the North Norfolk Coast.

The house is charming and has been carefully designed for luxury, style and comfort. You will find beautiful bedrooms, each with their own character and style and marble tiled bathrooms. The open plan kitchen and dining area opens out onto the terrace and garden. The airy upstairs living room with log burner is the perfect place to relax.

We provide everything you need for a wonderful stay as well as some added extras, including:

2 Sony TVs (with Sky and Sky Movies)

DVD player

Bluetooth music system

Nespresso coffee machine

Weber BBQ

Linen from The White Company

Lark House is a 2 minute walk to the Village Green of Burnham Market, a vibrant village where you can explore the wonderful shops, galleries, cafes and a deli with delicious locally sourced treats. The Hoste Arms pub is also great for cosy drinks by the fire, food in the restaurant or treating yourself at their spa.

Burnham Market is located at the heart of the North Norfolk Coast which stretches for nearly 80 miles and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The stunning beaches (just 10 minutes away), salt flats and countryside are beautiful in every season for walks, cycling, sailing, bird watching, horse riding or just enjoying the view. The area is dotted with lively coastal and market towns and harbours such as Wells-Next-The Sea where you can still see crab and fishing boats putting out to sea.

The area is home to some of the country’s finest stately homes including Sandringham, the Norfolk retreat of Her Majesty The Queen, which is open to explore. You can also visit the deer park and palatial interiors of Holkham Hall or the walled gardens and contemporary sculpture park of Houghton Hall.

There are many great gastro pubs and restaurants along the coast. Why not try the award winning Orange Tree, The Duck Inn at Stanhoe. The Neptune, Old Hunstanton is great for a treat or The White Horse Brancaster has wonderful views.

There's something for every age to enjoy in North Norfolk. For children there are fantastic activity playgrounds in Wells-Next-The-Sea, nature reserves such as Pensthorpe Waterfalls and pottery painting in Burnham Market.

Impressive and had everything we needed

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from a wonderful holiday in Norfolk which was mostly down to staying at Lark House. The house is very impressive and luxurious yet it feels homely and has everything you need. Spacious rooms and two living areas, this house worked well as we were holidaying with my parents (in their 60s) and my children (7months and 3years) so whilst my parents were relaxing upstairs in the lounge, downstairs my youngest napped and my toddler sat happily in the kitchen colouring in and watching tele. Because we enjoyed the house so much most evenings we stayed in and cooked and sat out in the garden which is the perfect size.

We have stayed in holiday homes / cottages before so brought along some practical items for the kitchen...only to find the cupboards were already stocked with such essentials as dishwasher tablets, foil, tea towels etc.

The decor is stunning, my parents were impressed with the furniture (especially the massive footstool) and interior design. The beds were exceptionally comfy and the heavy, lined curtains meant we all slept well. The drive way also fits at least three big cars and has a gate for extra security.

Location wise it's excellent - a two minute walk to local village shops (including a Jack Wills and Joules!) an excellent restaurant which also has a spa and a free (!) cinema and many beaches and towns to visit within a 5-10minute car journey.

We loved Wells-next-the-sea and Brancaster for their beaches, Holt for its shopping (and food at The Kings Head) and on the one rainy day we had we discovered Norfolk Lavendar and had a lovely lunch in their restaurant and browsed in the gift shops whilst my husband chased my three year old round the indoor soft play barn.

Will definitely consider going back to Burnham Market and staying at Lark House again!

Astounding house in lovely part of Norfolk

  • 5 of 5

We have just had a wonderful week in Lark House with my children and their grandparents. The house oozes quality and really is a luxurious but homely place from which to explore North Norfolk. During our stay we made the most of the family activities, including seal trips, crabbing (at Wells and Blakeney), cycling (Holkham Hall is magnificent for this- safe but expansive and very beautiful), Nature trekking (again, try Holkham Hall!) and of course, eating! Burnham Market is a delightful and friendly village with some excellent pubs and shops- all a few yards from Lark House (although you wouldn't know out amor the tranquility of the house and garden). We will certainly consider Lark House again and thank the owners for sharing it with us!

Lovely house in Burnham Market

  • 5 of 5

An outstanding house right in the centre of Burham Market, and convenient for shops, restaurants, and the like. The house was precisely as advertised, and absolutely spotless when we arrived.

Emma provided a very efficient service in every respect, and we would strongly recommnd this property for anyone seeking a comfortable holiday house in Norfolk.
