We are delighted to offer this luxury self-catering holiday apartment situated in the heart of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile, close to St Giles Cathedral and Edinburgh Castle.

It offers ideal holiday accommodation for a short break in the very heart of Edinburgh. The apartment is on the third floor, with large windows overlooking the pedestrian precinct area of the Royal Mile.

The sittingroom has comfortable, built-in window seats, where guests can sit and watch the ever changing bustle of the Royal Mile below. The sitting / dining / kitchen area is open-plan.

The comfortable sitting area has a digital television with Freeview, DVD player and a CD / radio with an iPod dock. The fully fitted and well equipped kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, iron and microwave. There is a large dining table that can seat up to eight guests.

Wireless Internet broadband is provided for use with your own laptop, tablet or smart phone.

The sleeping accommodation comprises two bedrooms: one double to the rear of the apartment and one twin with secondary glazing to the front. A sofa-bed (really only suitable as a single) in the sitting area extends the sleeping capacity to five.

The bathroom has a shower over the bath.

The apartment is tastefully furnished with quality furniture that matches the attractive wood finish of the apartment.

Full bedding and towels are provided.

The property has full gas central heating.

The owners provide a complimentary welcome basket containing fruit juice, coffee, tea, sugar, milk and biscuits.

Why Derek Gibb chose Old Town

Brilliant location on Edinburgh`s number one tourist street. So much to see and do all on your door step. Main attractions all within walking distance and in fact you could walk to the seaside in about 60 minutes if reasonably fit otherwise take a bus in 30 minutes. Main train station Waverley is a 5 minute walk and the Bus station is a 10 minute walk. There many flats described as being on the Royal Mile which are not, this one is !

Loved the apartment, everything we could have needed was thought of.

Our family of 5 stayed for 3 nights in this apartment on the Royal Mile. Whilst we didn't particularly like the Royal Mile, finding it quite dirty and smelly the apartment was wonderful. It was spacious (The most spacious of our whole trip to Europe), beautifully clean and well equipped. Our kids were excited to find board games and books to play with in our down time and loved watching street performers from the window. Staying in an apartment like this for us is really about getting a home away from home with all the little things you would have in your own home and this apartment did not disappoint.

The only criticism would be the stairwell to get to the apartment which is steep and quite dirty (we realise this is out of the owners control). We loved the noticeboard full of useful information and the guest book as well.

Thank you Derek for being a wonderful host, responding quickly to any questions we had and for presenting a beautiful apartment you set the bar high for the rest of our holiday.

Best location

Great location (easy access to everything in Edinburgh), clean, and has everything you need. Edinburgh is a great city with lots to do right around the Royal Mile. One thing the apartment needs: towel hangers in the bathroom. Thanks.

Very convenient place to stay

We enjoyed our stay in this property very much. It is right on the Royal Mile and one bedroom does face down on the street, so a light sleeper might find that an issue. Our kids were just fine however. The location is unbeatable and we enjoyed exploring the area thoroughly. The flat was clean, equipped, and comfortable for our visit.

Wonderful property

I am an avid user of HomeAway, having stayed at many dozens of properties across this world.

This property is easily in the top 5%. The apartment is incredibly well-located within very easy (<10 minute) walking distance of Edinburgh Castle, Camera Obscura, Greyfriars Cemetary, and numerous other must-see locations. The free Edinburgh tour departs from steps away from the entrance. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants within five minutes' walk. You can even enjoy the street performers on the Royal Mile out the window of the apartment.

The property is meticulously clean and well-maintained with all amenities that you might want (with the exception of a clothes dryer, but you can't have everything). The included free parking, while not terribly close, is extremely useful in a city where parking is at a premium.

Were I to return to Edinburgh, my first step would be to try to rebook this flat.
