About this property

Village hideaway with gorgeous view

Quiet and secluded studio for two in the heart of a picturesque Provencal hilltop village. The studio has a stunning view of the Luberon hills. There is a pretty private terrace and access to a large garden.

The studio was completely renovated in 2014 to a high standard. It is situated behind the owner's property but quiet, secluded and private. It's 30m2 (323 sq ft) with a separate bathroom.

The terrain means that the Studio is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with severe mobility issues. Please do contact me to discuss your accessibility needs and I would be happy to advise.

It is light and airy with two huge windows. One opens onto the private, jasmin scented terrace with table and chairs and two Lafuma armchairs. The other opens entirely to give a 2m x 2m (6ft x 6ft) opening onto a beautiful view of the Luberon.

The kitchen is compact but well equipped with an oven, a 2 ring ceramic hob, a micro-wave, a large fridge with a freezer compartment and a dishwasher. There is a Weber gas barbecue for guests' exclusive use.

Guests have access to the greater part of a large terraced garden with two sun loungers for their private use.

Goult is still one of the lesser known hill-top villages of the Luberon and retains a great deal of its charm. The Café de la Poste is one of the liveliest in the area and is 2 mins walk from the property. However, even when it's busy, you can't hear it from the studio. The village also has a butcher, a baker, a hairdresser, a grocer/green grocer, a post office, a tourist information centre, a beautician, gift shops and a number of restaurants. All accessible on foot. Thursday is market day in the village. The doctor is 1km (1/2 mile) away in Lumières.

Getting here:
Buses run to/from Avignon TGV station to Lumières.
From Marseille/Provence airport, you take a shuttle bus to Vitrolles and then a train to Cavaillon. Then bus from there to Lumières and I will collect you. (Or rent a car)

A very special place
The Studio is beautifully located overlooking the Luberon hills and completely private even though it is in the owner's garden. The accommodation is perfect for two people and well thought out in terms of layout. It is fitted out to a very high standard and is blessed with a terrace and a garden of its own. Goult, the village where the Studio is located, offers a bakery, a charcuterie, a specialist cheese shop and a general store. There are several restaurants and an excellent pizzeria. The Studio is the perfect place to enjoy quiet, even though the village square is only about 100 yards away. And it is a village worth getting to know and to appreciate. Further afield there are other interesting villages, but Goult is very special. As is the Studio's owner, who is English, has lived in Goult for many years, and is always helpful without being intrusive. We have had a wonderful time. Margaret

Perfect place
We stayed in this studio for a week and can really recommend it. The studio is very clean, fully equipped and furnished with attention to detail. The private parking is just in front of the house. The garden and surroundings are beautiful. Our host Ailie was very friendly and helpful, it was a real pleasure to meet her. Thanks again for our welcome gift, a bottle of wine in the fridge and thank you so much for your hospitality. We hope to return soon

Modern, private, comfortable studio with great views nestled on hillside in the village of Goult
We just returned from a trip to the Luberon region in the south of France, where we stayed at the Goult Studio, recently renovated by Ailie Collins , in the village of Goult. The Studio meets all expectations and requirements for a two week stay. The style is comfortably modern, with tile floors throughout. The bathroom has a great walk-in shower, farm sink, plush towels, (hairdrier), and a clean, pleasant look. There is a very comfortable king size bed with nice duvets and pillows. The sitting area has two comfy chairs for reading, and open sliding doors looking out over a commanding view of the valley and the Luberon hills in the distance. Adjacent is a table with two chairs in the kitchen area, a two burner stove and microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and all the equipment to prepare a meal. Ailie has thought of everything you might need. There is a patio with table and chairs just outside the door, as well as another terrace with chairs and great views down some easy stairs, on the hillside in front. Ailie's house is right next door and her presence, fluency in french & english, and knowledge of the town and surrounding area is a comfort when one is a "newcomer" The degree of privacy cannot be overstated: we felt very left alone unless we needed her help or suggestions. The town is lovely, easily walkable, and with a great boulangerie/patisserie, butcher shop, cheese shop, grocerie with fruits & veggies, and several restaurants. The Bartavelle Restaurant was our favorite - with great food, efficient & kind service, and a relaxing setting in a stone vaulted room. The surrounding hill towns which include Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Roussillon, and far too many to name, are all easily accessible , with beautiful views and nice restaurants for lunch or dinner. There are "marches" everyday day of the week - somewhere! Aix en Provence, Avignon, and Marseille are also nearby making the Goult Studio a centrally located base from which to venture in any direction. Ailie's website is an accurate portrayal of the Studio and you will not be dissappointed. A very good choice!!

Return to the Goult Studio
Once again we had a wonderful stay in the Goult Studio. Ailie was charming and extremely helpful in all things Provencal. We enjoyed the local restaurants: Le Carillon, La Bartavelle and La Terrace. Also enjoyed the newest addition, Le Goultois, which is a new cafe. A happy, tranquil home away from home. Could not recommend it more highly. By the way, the views from the studio are stunning. About the host

Me… I’m called Ailie and I’ve lived in the Luberon since 1990. I worked part-time for author Peter Mayle for twenty-five years but, amongst other things, I’ve also taught English, set up a gift shop and given tastings in a winery, run a corkscrew museum, worked in a restaurant, been part of a catering company and done a degree with the Open University. I enjoy walking and I’m passionate about food.

Why they chose this property

I lived in a big house in a pine wood for 17 years. My children grew up and left home so I downsized and moved to a village. I love being in a village. And particularly this village - Goult.

What makes this property unique

I never tire of the view. The morning light, the evening light... the changing seasons. My house is in the village but it's incredibly quiet and not overlooked with a really stunning view. It's also downhill from the café.
