About this property

Custom designed ranch style home. Hand crafted hardwood throughout, with 3 bedrooms upstairs, (2 queen pillowtops, 1 XL Twin), full bath with jacuzzi tub/shower/laundry shoot, spacious living room, with 50' smart TV, surround sound, dining room opens into fully equipped kitchen, solid walnut counter tops, open galley to lower level. Walk out to back deck with above ground heated pool (Ron's hard work paid off), all season 6-8 person hot tub, 2-3+ grills, gas and charcoal, kegorator, it's definitely a man's world!! The Lower Level was recently updated with three , (3), custom designed and built full size bedrooms. We have re-vamped the extra large bathroom, consisting of: the"Throne", walk-in shower, modified (2-2016) closet/dressing area, pedestal sink, and paint décor/design. The downstairs family room has a 46" Samsung Smart TV, 2 built-in ceiling speakers, hand crafted walnut XL Twin /couch/futon, (sleeps 2 comfortably), side reclining chaise, (sleeps 1?2), built-in wall refrigerator. Access to washer/dryer is located next to the "Throne". Open the front door and relax on our peaceful recently added new front deck, (6-2016), that looks west to the University. Watch the sunset!! It's awesome. Take it all in, the sights, the sounds, the Hesburgh library, the excitement, and of course, the energy of Notre Dame. An experience you will never forget!!!

Great house for game weekend!

We had a wonderful stay at the “Big House!” The house/location was perfect for our multi-generational group of family and friends for a game weekend. The house is “quirky” but super clean and comfortable (slept our group of 3 couples and 2 teens comfortably with several beds to spare). It’s not fancy, but it’s perfect for a game-weekend and visiting ND students. We hosted friends of our ND students for pregame dinner and there was plenty of room to serve and socialize with 20+ people! Sharon was amazing to deal with… a great hostess who treated us more like friends than customers.

Game day stay

We brought our whole family to an ND game. This was the perfect place for us to stay. Plenty of beds, parking ideal, safe neighborhood, walking distance from campus... would highly recommend if you plan to go to anything with the university.

Awesome location!

We stayed here for the Garth concert. Sharon was very nice and helpful during our stay. She even used her golf cart to take my 70 year old in-laws up closer to the stadium. Stadium is only about a 10 minute walk. You won’t find a place closer!

Notre Dame beats Navy

We had a fantastic stay at this house. Sharon was very communicative and everything was left as stated. House is walking distance to the game and campus- the perfect location for a large group! We had a blast- thank you Sharon!

About the host

I am a Marine, that somehow, ended up at Notre Dame. For 17 years, I ran and taught in the Engineering Machine Shop. During that time, I started my own small shop. Just, recently we closed the shop after 35 years, it was quite a life changing moment. I have invested in this neighborhood, both, physically and emotionally, building the shop, the 'grey house' in front, and believe it or not, Joey, yeah that the one, Montana, lived with me for awhile, no lie). Loved his dog too! I purchased other properties along the way, our 'little house', built in 1906, a few lots away, down the street to the west, 1/2 block closer to ND, 3 lots, directly across the street from both the 'Big House' and the 'Grey House'. One of those lots, had little white house, with a back porch, just right for my mother. When she passed away in my arms in 2007, I sold that property to Notre Dame. We currently rent out the 'little house' to professors, graduate students, visiting foreign faculty, from all over the world. We love it. My wife especially loves the cultural interaction, the female company and children.

Why they chose this property

We are renting this property, because we realize we have way to much 'stuff'. There are only two of us and 'the big' house is huge. So it just makes sense, we are so close to campus, etc. so why not rent?! No more hassles for large groups with hotels, eating out, parking, not knowing where you are, and any other discomfort that comes with the hectic ND football/ND event weekends.

What makes this property unique

The flyovers shake the ground. The plays are called. You can hear the buildup, the roar, or the silence, depending on the outcome, before it can even reach the airways. Come join us in this unbelievable experience. Come be a part of our 'pot of gold' at end of the rainbow! We, recently, 2/2015, started our own Neighborhood Watch program. Partnering with our neighbors, the University of Notre Dame, Highline US (Overlook (graduate housing), Irish Row, and Irish Flats), and St. Joseph County, to preserve and add to the allure of our uniquely "hidden" treasure that is Morningside/Pedestrian Addition.
