Fantastic property and area.
My wife and I had a fabulous fortnight holiday during Aug 22 in this property. The online pictures really don't do the house justice. The bed is a UK king-size and very comfortable, the shower is good as is the induction hob cooker. The property lacks nothing at all. Outside, there is various areas to eat or relax and evening glasses of wine on the balcony with views of the valley were fantastic. The house itself is easy to find and sits above the village of Oderen. Your morning bread isn't too far away and the village has an excellent Auberge which we used both at lunchtime and at night. A really good Super U is in Fellering, which is less than a 10 min drive away. The hosts Jean-Paul and Josseline are lovely. They stay in the house next door but the design of the rental property provides separate space and privacy, with the advantage of having friendly and knowledgeable hosts next door. We are keen hikers and the property is right in the centre of countless stunning walks. That said, mountain and road cycling is popular in the area and the nearby lake attracted many kayaker and paddle boarders. Colmar and Eguisheim are 'must visit' places. We have been holidaying in France (using rental properties) for a long time and I can recommend this property and area wholeheartedly. 10/10.

Immaculate, well equipped gite for two.
This one bed-roomed gite, separate but adjacent to the owner's house, stands on the lower slopes of the hills around the village of Oderen. The property and small garden are immaculately maintained and well equipped. The owner speaks limited English but is nevertheless extremely helpful and obliging. There are small sitting and dining areas, with shade, outside. There is a general store in the village and an excellent family run restaurant. Walks through the woods and meadows are available from the door of the gite. Swimming is available at the lake five kilometres to the north. The gite is dog-friendly.

Gite in Oderen - Highly recommended
This is a lovely place to stay. On arrival we received a very warm welcome from the owners with a cake and bottle of wine presented to us. They are happy to advise on places to go, walks to do etc and always on hand in case you need anything. The gite was as described online. All equipment was was in good working order and the gite nicely decorated and spotlessly clean with the grounds kept tidy. Location of the gite within Oderen is very good - situated a good distance back from the main road through Oderen so it is very peaceful there and you have easy access to walks up into the hills behind - you can walk straight from the gite without having to drive anywhere if you wish, as we did a couple of times - well worth the walk for fantastic views. It also feels nice and safe there - we were travelling by motorcycle which I don't usually like leaving parked outside at night, however I was perfectly happy to park the bike outside the gite on the private drive. For food, there are a couple of large supermarkets maybe 8 to 10 minutes drive away. There is a bar in Oderen but it didn;t seem to be open whilst we were there. There is a cafe at the Tabac and a couple of restaurants in the next village a short drive away. The gite is well placed for trips out to such places as Ricquewirh which is worth a visit, the Stork sanctuary and also for other walking in the Alsace beyond the hikes available immediately from the gite. We had a really nice stay here and would definately recommend this gite to friends/relatives. If visiting this area again we would have no hesitation in staying here again ourselves.
