Dear Mr Castanho,

Just to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Madeira.

Your villa and gardens are beautiful and the best we have ever stayed in, we had a very chilled out holiday. The view and sunsets are magnificent and your swimming pool was excellent, we used the pool most evenings as it was very hot around 6 pm which we found very strange but it was a lovely way to relax after being out during the day.

Your housekeeper Maria keeps your villa spotless and she was very pleasant.

We found Marta to be very helpful and she was very informative when she showed us around your villa, she also gave us lots of informatiion on places to visit.

We will definitely be back, soon I hope.

Many Thanks

The Jones Family.

quite simply, the most amazing house.....!

  • 5 of 5

What can we say? We're seasoned villa renters across the UK and Europe and Villa Miradouro is without doubt the most amazing house we have ever stayed in.

The house exceeded our expectations and was excellent value. Location is superb - remote but not too isolated with facilities only a short drive away. The spacious design & layout of the house allows natural light through it all day, but the tinted windows and gentle sea breeze keep things cool, even in August.

Kitchen is top spec and had all we needed. Furniture all high quality and very comfortable. All rooms were kept spotless by Maria the friendly & helpful housekeeper. Gardens absolutely beautiful and the BBQ annexe and area is a great chill-out space too.

Swimming pool was lovely and just the right temperature; clean and safe for a (supervised) young family. We also spent hours lazing in the hammock and sun-loungers.

We spent many happy evenings on the balcony enjoying wine and spotting whales and dolphins (take good binoculars though!)

Self-catering is not a chore in this house. We spent every day of our stay at the villa; we just didn't see the need to go out.

Our abiding memories of this house are the amazing seaviews, the space, light and peacefulness of the place.

We cannot recommend it highly enough!

Stunning isolation

  • 5 of 5

The photos don't really do this property justice. It is very large and the gardens are beautifully maintained. The views from this property are absolutely stunning. From the rear of the property you cannot see any other houses and you have unobstructed views over the see. The rear of the property where the pool and terrace are, is south facing so it is sunny for the majority of the day.

The only negative (and to be honest it really isn't a negative), is that the property is about a 20min drive from any amenities, but this is a villa you go to to relax, not to be in the thick of it. The roads are narrow, winding and often susceptible to small landslides so nervous drivers should take note.

Maria the housekeeper kept the villa spotless.

We would definitely return here- I miss waking up to the amazing ocean views.

Perfect villa

  • 5 of 5

Lovely villa in superb position.

The whole booking process and arrival went very smoothly. Nothing to worry about when booking this property.

The villa is as described if not better. Lovely view from the roof terrace. Well equipped kitchen for cooking.

Beautiful views from every window, even the bathrooms.

The best thing for me was the complete quiet and calm. No planes overhead, no traffic, no noisy neighbours. Maria very helpful.

Would be very happy to stay again

Madeira 2013

  • 5 of 5

The Villa is beautiful. It's facilities are just as they are described in the details, it is thoughtfully layed out and very well equipped. It is secluded with stunning views, the perfect place for peace, tranquility and relaxation, with just the birds for company! The property is spotlessly clean and Maria the housekeeper takes great pride in looking after it. When she visits whilst you are at the villa, she takes great care not to invade your privacy. The owner is very professional and provides an excellent service from booking through to directions. We would not hesitate to recommend this property for those of you who do not want the high rise hotels, bars and clubs but want to relax by a private pool, cook bbq's and watch the sun go down. The area is very unspoilt, there are some lovely levada walks nearby and it is not far to drive to see any of the beautiful sights Madeira has to offer.

Most amazing holiday retreat in the Med

  • 5 of 5

Dear John,

A massive THANK YOU for letting us stay in your beautiful holiday villa on the picturesque island of Madeira with breathtaking views and sunsets as we truly had a fantastic and relaxing holiday. We all felt the villa was brilliant and just what we needed to start the New Year, it certainly made our visit a very memorable experience as it catered for all of our needs.

Maria is a true delight and she was a great help to us all, you are certainly blessed to have her looking after your villa so wonderfully for you!!

We were left breathless with the island landscaping but specially Calheta and the other small harbour villages nearby with such stunning scenery. Very much enjoyed the energetic and vibrant city of Funchal and it's quirky shops but we always looked forward to coming back to the Villa as we were delighted that we had chosen the best part of the Island to spend our holiday as it was very relaxing with friendly locals and found it stimulating watching the wildlife.

We will surely be contacting you shortly to re-book for a longer period once we have planned our work commitments.

Once again thank you ...........

Villa Miradouro Madeira

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Miraduoro during September 2011... my first visit to Madeira although my husband had been there many years before.

Madeira is a beautiful island.. amazing views - lush green countryside - and interesting roads!! I'm a coward - my husband did all the driving!! The villa is very secluded and the sea views from the balcony and verandah could not be bettered... remember to take binoculars!! Villa Miraduoro is beautifully furnished and the housekeeping by Maria during our stay was second to none!!

All in all - a wonderful holiday in surroundings that cannot be beaten - we will definitely be going back!!

Location

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Funchal International at 48 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : Funchal at 38 Kilometres Nearest Beach : at 10 Kilometres Car: necessary

Madeira described with expressive attributes such as “flower island” and “island of eternal spring” two thirds consists of protected areas with unique and versatile landscapes and nature, abundant with exotic and tropical flowers / fruits due to a mild climate even in midwinter. The villa stands at 50 minutes drive from the airport using express roads and finally through villages with sea view. Express roads with tunnels through mountains and bridges altogether with the recent construction of several new marinas along the coast has increased the popularity of the west side of the island. There are some popular restaurants / bars, mini market and a Bank with ATM nearby with a wider choice in Calheta. The city of Funchal (capital) offers entertaining nightlife, traditional / modern dining and shopping experience in newly built Malls. For Bird life and Sea life enthusiasts we recommend our guests to pack a pair of binoculars.

Other Activities: Levada walking

Golf: Madeira is a golfers paradise because it’s subtropical climate guarantees all year round blue skies and stunning views over the ocean, steep cliffs and most of all, great golf courses. There are 2 excellent golf courses on Madeira, the Santo da Serra Golf Club and Palheiro Golf Club.

Ski: For those who are interested in knowing how the White Rum and Black Honey Cake are made, we recommend a tour of the ‘Engenho da Calheta’ the rum distillery where you can wander around and sample / purchase the produce.

Centro das Artes Casa da Mudas is a new fantastic art centre located in Calheta at the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea.

The capital of the island is Funchal, a very attractive and contemporary town, has numerous restaurants and bars, nightclubs, large marina, excellent variety of individual International shops, several very interesting museums.
