4 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, comfortably 6 adults plus 2 children
La Pineda is a self-contained two storey villa nestling amongst the pines on a hillside above Sa Riera beach, which can be accessed by car in a couple of minutes, or by a steep flight of steps for the fit and energetic.
The house is 20 years old, and it has been completely transformed in 2006 with much thought being given to comfort and style. There are wide terraces, perfect for breakfasting in the sun, beautiful planting and views to the sea.
The historic hillside town of Begur is nearby, the area offers a wide range of cultural and sporting activities, with excellent restaurants and wines. The coast offers a wide variety of sandy coves and sweeping bays. It has one of the highest concentrations of 'Blue Flag' sites in Europe.
A bonus is that the owner, who lives in the house below (accessed by a lower road) is an excellent cook and meals, shopping and child-care can be arranged, if desired. Details can be found on our personal website, linked to this one.
The villa is ideal for a winter holiday, having double glazing throughout, as well as central heating and an open fire. During the cooler weather the full range of sporting activities can be taken advantage of; for example we are situated in beautiful walking and cycling country with well-marked trails and tracks. Mountain biking is also a popular sport and the terrain was ideal for the recent World Championship trials. We can also arrange guided horseback riding, cycling and walking.
Catalonia is a well known golfing area too, in fact Golf World Magazine praised the Golf Club of Pals - a fifteen minute drive from Begur as one of the best in Europe. There are no less that nine Golf courses in the region, all in superb sites. Skiing too is possible, the slopes of Andorra are accessible in about two to three hours.
Finally, the cultural sites and the beautiful medieval towns in the area can be seen to advantage in low season.

Thank you SO much for the wonderful review. It really was a pleasure meeting you and the boys and I'm thrilled that you had such a great holiday. I still plan to find out about Ullastret for you!!
It would be lovely welcoming you all back to La Pineda again some day. Again, thank you!

We can only endorse the fantastic comments from previous guests. The villa was spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The terraces are ideals for relaxing, especially when looking out at the sea view. Denise is very welcoming and we really enjoyed meeting her. She gave us excellent recommendations for places to visit and restaraunts. We got Denise to do shopping for us and provide a welcome buffet which meant that we could relax immediately - a great start to our stay. As well as the welcome buffet, we had Denise cook us a meal one night - her cooking is fantastic so we recommend you try it! The area is excellent with some many places to visit and see including Girona, Dali's museum, lots of lovely medieval villages and gorgeous bays along the coast. We had a great time and would highly recommend both the villa and the owner!
Such a lovely place
We had a great holiday in beautiful Begur, and the property suited our needs very well. We were a large family with 3 generations, and the informal and cosy atmosphere made us feel at home instantly. Highly recommended
On reviendra certainement !
Lovely May visit
We had a lovely time exploring the Costa Brava and using this home near Begur as our base. Denise was a kind, gracious host who answered emails rapidly when I reached out ahead of the trip. Tapas and Cava chilling in the fridge greeted us upon arrival. You are a 10-minute walk to a lovely beach (definitely walk the Camino Ronda along the coast) and easy drives to Girona, the Dali triangle, including Figueres. I loved being a few minutes from the pretty town of Begur and close to Llanfranc and Caella Palafrugell. The home met our needs: kitchen well stocked, good wifi, and three terraces to pick from to enjoy views of the Mediterrean. Hope to return again some day.
A delightful villa in a beautiful location
A delightful villa in a beautiful location. Everything was ready for our arrival including the promised tapas, which were scrumptious, and chilled cava, what a way to start a holiday!
Not perhaps the best time of year to visit this craggy coast of Catalonia but it was spectacular and the beaches glorious.
The villa was beautifully fresh and sparkling clean with everything we needed and more. Denise ensured we were happy on arrival and insisted that we contact her if we needed anything, what more can one ask!
As we were having friends round for dinner one evening we asked Denise to cook for us and we were delighted with the resultant meal. Definitely a villa that we will book again and we fully intend to take advantage of Denise’s superb cooking more than once next time.
A sheet delight!
What a delightful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Denise greeted us with a cold bottle of Cavi and a delicious assortment of tapas which made us feel right at home from the get go. The villa was immaculate and everything we needed was provided for. We even used Denise to cook us several dinners. We can assure you that her chicken curry is outstanding. We walked the gorgeous beaches nearby and had 6 days of paradise in the middle of winter. A perfect getaway spot where they pay attention to detail.
Activity and Interests
This area of the coast has great natural splendour with a fine tapestry of ancient walled towns and hilltop villages. The beautiful city of Girona is only 40 minutes drive. Not only is the whole area steeped in culture, but,
especially in the low season, the villa is an ideal centre for numerous sporting activities - for example, there are well-marked tracks for walking and cycling and mountain bicycling is especially popular in the undulating terrain.
We can advise on all the above and even arrange for guided horseback riding.
Catalunia is famous for its marvellous GOLF COURSES - 9, all superbly sited, and the course considered one of the best in Europe is less that 15 minutes drive away - at PALS. Skiing too can be enjoyed as the Pyrennes slopes are two to three hours drive from Begur.
Culturally too, there is much to see, the Dali Museum at Figures and his homes at Portlligat and Cadeques
can be visited. Barcelona needs no introduction and is easily accessible.
Golf: In 2000 Catalunia was named as 'emerging golf destination of the year' by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators. They recognised the merits of the area and the number of high quality Golf courses.
An added bonus is the splendid setting of the majority of the Golf Clubs and the warm welcome extended to players from abroad. Many high quality tournaments are now played in Catalunia.
