The Cascais Holiday Apartment is located in a private luxury condominium in one of the best residential areas of Cascais: Jardins da Gandarinha, facing the Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean pine trees.
The apartment is situated on the fourth floor, with lift access from the ground floor entrance hall. The beautiful vacation apartment in Cascais is practical and boasts a large terrace. The whole apartment is very quiet.
The entrance hall leads to the living area. Light pours in from the large French doors, and the stone floor contributes to a cool atmosphere.
The living room opens onto the terrace via two sets of French doors. Entertainment is provided by the large flat-screen TV set with cable TV and international channels in most languages. The terrace has an outdoor dining table, the ideal place for “al-fresco” meals, and catching the sun in the morning and afternoon. There are also sun-loungers in the terrace. The L shaped living room boasts a fully equipped kitchenette.
The wi-fi internet boasts an amazing 200mbps speed.
One bedroom also has two sets of French doors opening onto the terrace. The other twin bedroom is internal, accessed from the living room. There is ample storage space and built-in cupboards.
Outside, the beautifully landscaped gardens offer pleasant spots to read a book, between colorful plants and a pond with emblematic red bridge. Beyond the gardens, the large shared swimming pool is surrounded by lawn and deckchairs, which are available for guests to use. Additionally, there is a second and smaller swimming pool with shallow water, which is ideal for children; and a well equipped full size tennis court. The private condominium features 24h security and surveillance. The pools are never crowded. Please note this being a luxury condominium, its rules and peace need to be respected at all times.

Beautiful apartment with excellent amenities
Overall, we were very impressed with all aspects of the rental, and the description on the website accurately reflected the location. The apartment was spacious, well maintained with beautiful furnishings, ideal for a large family or group of friends. The terrace was very comfortable and large, perfect for relaxing in the sun or dining al fresco. There is a lovely bakery, a small supermarket and a bus stop to go to Cascais right on the doorstep. We received an excellent level of customer service from beginning to end and are already thinking of renting the same apartment again next year.
Gorgeous Ocean View
We had a most enjoyable stay at the Gandarinha Ocean View unit. The view is stunning. Imagine sipping your cocktail on the porch watching the colors of the ocean change as the sun sets. The unit is large and airy and accommodated the six adults in our party. The kitchen is equipped with just the basics, but with all the fantastic restaurants around, who can think of cooking? The grounds are well maintained and the gated entry and helpful security made us feel safe and well cared for. The pool and tennis courts are clean and uncrowded. There is a grocery store and a pastry shop down the street. The walk to the downtown and back is a bit far to attempt more than once a day, but the Buscas, a local bus, has a stop one block away and comes by every 10-15 minutes. Over the course of our stay, we met several members of the Sol-Domus staff and they were always helpful, going out of their way to make our stay a memorable one.
Beautiful view, super-clean, perfect stay
This apartment was the perfect place to stay for a month in Portugal. It is very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. I am super-picky about cleanliness and this rental totally passes the test. It can sleep 4 privately and an additional 2 people could sleep on the fold down couch/bed in the living room. One of the bedrooms had a fold-up twin-sized bed (the kind that folds into a chair), which would be suitable for a child if made up.
The kitchen is very well appointed should you want to do a bit of cooking. We had many a lovely breakfast or dinner on the veranda. The maid service was very friendly and helpful. The apartment has a washing machine and drying racks; there is also a laundry service available if you desire someone to wash, dry and iron. There is 24-hour porterage, and all the porters are friendly (note they only speak only Portuguese). Our landlord offered internet for an extra charge - not sure this will always be available - and it was a real benefit for our stay.
Both pools and the gardens were enjoyable; however, in Portugal the pools are rarely heated so after October, you may not enjoy the pool temperature. There is a lovely bakery across the street and also a small, but well stocked, grocery store next to that. You can get by without a car if you like as the bus to Cascais comes every 10 minutes throughout the day. A parking spot is available underground if you choose to rent a car. A variety of seaside restaurants are available within walking distance at Casa da Guia.
We had a great stay here and I would recommend this apartment without reservation.

The charming, historic town centre of Cascais is a pleasant 15 minutes stroll, or 2 minutes by car. There is plenty to visit such as restaurants, nightlife, cultural events, cinemas with films in English and shopping. This property is ideally situated for those wanting to take a break with plenty to do but without having to rent a car. Everything is within easy walking distance. The charming, historic town centre of Cascais is a pleasant 15 minutes stroll, or 5 minutes by local bus or car. There is plenty to visit of historic interest as well as restaurants, nightlife, cultural events, cinemas with films in English and shopping.”
Activity and Interests
Hip and famous Guincho Beach, world renowned for its natural beauty and surfing, is a quick 5 minute drive away, along a spectacular scenic road, where once drove the world’s most popular spy. You can go there by car, bus, walking or cycling through a promenade created for this purpose willfully, it is a very pleasant ride of 20 minutes. This is a perfect beach for water sports such as surf, kitesurf and windsurf.
Cascais local Beaches
There is a long stretch of beaches in Cascais, each with its individual character and charm. Most beaches provide amenities such as sunbeds and parasols, and there are numerous restaurants and cafés on the adjacent promenade “Paredao”. Several beaches less than half an hour’s drive North along the coast are well worth exploring, as are some excellent fish restaurants.
Cascais is also close to the romantic world heritage town of Sintra and half an hour from the centre of Lisbon.
The Paula Rego museum, recently opened in Cascais, is walking distance and is an architectural gem as gem as having beatiful paintings by internationally renownwed Paula Rego. An added bonus is that all museums in Cascais are free.
Golf info: The Quinta da Marinha course was designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, laying out the course over 6,071 metres for a Par 71. This Course was the 1988 host of the Quinta da Marinha Ladies Masters and in 2002 was host to the Estoril Open (PGA Tour Event).
Quinta da Penha Longa is a relevant historical site, having housed Portuguese kings. Over the past 600 years Penha Longa has undergone several changes and many buildings have been constructed there, such as the Palace, the Church, the Fountain of Tears, the Fountain of St. Gonçalo and the Palace of the Marquis of Angeja. Designed by golf architect Robert Trent Jones Jr, the course which is 6,290 metres long off the championship tees.
Estoril Golf Club dates back to 1929. The 18-hole course was designed in 1945 by Mackenzie Ross, one of the best golf architects in the world. There is another nine-hole course, normally used by beginners.
Beloura is the most recent golf course on the Estoril Coast, set in a 60-hectare area halfway between Cascais and Sintra. It was designed by the American architect Rocky Roquemore. Its eighteen holes, with excellent views over the Sintra mountain range, extend over 5,878 metres for a par 72.
Estoril-Sol is a small par-3 nine-holes, excellent course for beginners. The practice centre offers players the possibility of visualising all the strokes they may have to make in a real game on the course.
