The Stalletta is a little cozy nest for two people. There's a bedroom, a spacious bathroom, and a room with a kitchen, a dining area and a lovely relaxing area.Just outside is a little private garden with table and chairs of wood. The Stalletta house is on the ground floor, and has a big glass door that opens on the garden. In summer it's wonderful to leave it open and to feel the garden like an extension of the living room, with the colours and the perfumes of nature becoming part of the house. Castellare is completely surrounded by woods, with the luxury of being remote and private, and yet so close the the Florence city centre. In times where every space of nature is becoming assaulted by building needs, Castellare is a unique oasis, that gives guests a feeling of being out of time and space. The care used for furnishings and decoration also help the spirit to unwind and be inspired.
Castellare is an ancient building complex on the high hills that surround Florence (just 20km away). It is set on top of a private hill, invisible from the public street, and completely surrounded by nature.
We offer four accommodations, warm and inspiring, and a swimming pool is in the main lawn.
The Stalla is our larger accommodation and is displayed on two floors. Upstairs two spacious bedrooms (a double and a triple) and a bathroom; downstairs a big open space with a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable livingroom area. The Stalla house is perfect for a family or a small group of friends. In restructuring it we tried to maintain its rustic and antique charme, so you will find an original stone floor and family pieces of furniture. Outside the livingroom door there is a private garden with table and chairs of wood.
The Loggia has an independent kitchen with a pretty view, a livingroom, a bathroom, and a bedroom on a loft under a roof of old beams. There's a private patio with table and chairs just outside the kitchen's door.
The Stalletta is a charming small accommodation with a bedroom, a spacious bathroom, and a room with a kitchen, a dining area, and a lovely relaxing area with a sofa (that can be used as a day bed) that has been custom made with parts of antique wood. Just outside there is a private little garden with table and chairs and a stone barbeque.
The Capanna is a small cottage of stone, with a bedroom, a bathroom, and a room with a kitchen a livingroom and a dining area. It's walls have been maintained in stone on the inside too, whitewashed to give more light and brightness. This retreat too has a small private patio with table and chairs.
All accommodations have sofabeds for one or two extra people to be welcomed. We also have cots and high chairs for babies, at guests disposal.
For a few years we had an etching workshop on the premises, and we have enjoyed the experience of welcoming artists for long stretches of time. Writers too embraced the inspiring nature of Castellare to come and work on their writing projects. This is why, although we have moved the etching workshop to another location, we still have special rates in the winter for those who wish to come and dedicate themself to art; may it be writing, painting, or even the exploration of oneself.
Many of the pieces of art you will see in the houses have been produced here.

About Ms. Catina Cecioni
My name is Catina, and my family and I (my partner and my son) also live on the spot. This property was bought by my grandparents, and it has always been a holiday home for family and friends while I was growing up. I have been the first permanent resident though, for now almost twenty years, and I adore living immersed in nature in close proximity with the wildlife. Expecially deers. The restructuration of the house took some time during which I started really enjoying all things "home", from furniture to textiles to ceramics. Offering guests a holiday retreat with the warmth and care of a home , in the peace of nature, has become a passion as well as my job.
Ms. Catina Cecioni purchased this farmhouse in 1959
Why Ms. Catina Cecioni chose Florence Area
Castellare's unique feature is it's location, completly sorrounded by nature. A driveway of about 700 meters connects the buildings to the main road, a charming winding street called Via di Parga with some breathtaking views. Then the driveway in the woods, where one feels the strains of contemporary life stay behind as the transformative power of nature takes over. Every time I come back from the center and the driving in traffic , I feel restored.
The house appears after the last curve as the most cherished retreat, a place where I have always felt welcomed, from the day I moved in, and it was just the cat and I. Although Castellare really conveys the feeling of being out of time, the neaby village of Molino del Piano (about 5 km away , downhill), embraced me like family. The people have something magical about them, as they are open and friendly and kind, and we easily bonded. To try and participate to local life, like going sometimes for breakfast or a coffee at the local bar ("bar" in Italian is a caffetteria), play tennis in the village courts, or even try the weekly appointment at the free cinema, may give a glimpse to what it means to live in the area. It's a life of simple pleasures, lots of smiles, friendship and all the inspiration one can wish for in perfect reach, may it be the opera , art to last for a lifetime of awe, the discovery of surprising corners of nature, the wandering in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy.
What makes this farmhouse unique
The benefit I try to offer guests if the comfort of a cozy home, where it's a joy to return to after a day of adventures. I like that we are small, with just four accommodations. It's not luxury that I love, but the uniqueness of handmade things, silence, and the stories of people from the world. There are many mega resorts in Tuscany, but very few settings like this, unspoilt, and a bit magic.
The price is all inclusive, so there will be no surprise fees added. Linen and towels are inclusive and so are utilities. A 50% deposit is required at the moment of reservation, and the balance can be settled directly upon arrival.
Please enquire for low season possibilities.

Our absolute favorite HomeAway stay!
We had a WONDERFUL stay in Stalletta... our favorite HA stay ever. The house is exactly as represented, and even has a small fireplace in the kitchen/sitting area. Catina is exceptional and provided perfect instructions and pictures to find her property on the mountainside and surrounded by fruit trees and olive trees. A small COOP grocery store is in nearby Molino del Piano and a bakery by the square. Note that stores close from 1pm to 5pm and open again until 7pm (except Wed.) Also find Guilia's Bar (coffee, beer, sandwiches) in town for 1.20 euro to enjoy an excellent macchiato, latte, cappuccino, etc. It is delightful to dine in your private garden but be sure to try Ristorante Artemide which is about a 10 min. drive up the road. The sign is obvious from the road so don't fear that you have missed it. Catina will make reservations for you because it is very popular. We had the wild boar stew, cabbage, apple, avocado salad and gnocchi with grape leaf and roquefort filling. But the meno changes frequently so hurry there. Lastly, be sure to take the train to Florence...very convenient and fast. Catina has an information notebook with all the information for shopping and sightseeing.
A wonderful secluded space with a fantastic host!
Catina's old tastefully furnished farmhouse on a hill in the middle of the forrest is a great place to lay back and relax. You can chill in the pool if the weather get's too hot or take a walk in the forrest. It has several interesting sights located very close, most notably the Castelo del Trebbio and the full scale of Chianti Rufina wineries. We enjoyed both, the calmness of the environment as well as our evening talks with Catina! Grazie mille!
A lovely peaceful place in the Tuscan hills with easy access to Florence
We couldn't have been happier with the welcome and hospitality! Catina our bi-lingual host also has a wealth of local and Florentine knowledge which helps if you want to take part in local life as well as see the city! Stalletta, the 1 bedroom part of the old house we had, is self-contained and has its own small terrace not overlooked by other guests where you can enjoy both sun and shade. Just lovely! Just what we wanted!
Lovely, relaxing, comfortable,...
This is an ideal place for people who want to relax, enjoy nature and silence and at the same time want to explore Tuscany.
We booked the Staletta during main season which is the smallest of the apartments. It is perfect for a couple and offers everything you need for holidays. It has a separate small garden/terrace with garden furniture. We really enjoyed the special climatic conditions you have around the house caused by the wood. We never had more than 30°C although there were 35°C+ in the valley.
What makes this little peace of paradise unique is Catina, the landlady. From the first moment we felt highly welcome. With her love and attention she invests in her house and her guests she made these holidays perfect. She has a lot of recommendations to discover the Tuscan region and this house is a good starting point to do that. We visited Florence several times by train which is very easy and on top cheap to do. And also Siena, San Gimignano, etc. are easy to reach by car.
We recommend this place 150% for couples, singles, families and friends.
Lovely, quite, relaxing,...
We booked the Staletta which is the smallest of all apartments and is perfect suitable for a couple. It offers everything you need for holidays. My husband and me spent two wonderful relaxing weeks at that little peace of paradise. We found a peaceful and absolute quite place where you can stay, e.g. when you need time for relieving pressure or if you want to enjoy nature. Even in main season, when you find everywhere around temperatures of about 35°C, you can stay there very comfortable, because you will always have 7 - 8°C less due to the wood around the house, which gives special climatic conditions. We really enjoyed that. And of course you can refresh in the fantastic pool.
The house is a perfect starting point to discover the Tuscan region. It is very easy to go to Florence by train, which is very cheap and comfortable and also Siena, San Gimignano, etc. are easy to reach by car.
What it makes to a unique place are the love and attention which Catina - the landlady - puts into her house and her guests. From the first moment we felt highly welcome and whenever we had a question, she supported with useful ideas and proposals.
As a conclusion we 150% recommend the domicile for couples, families and friends.

Activity and Interests
The Castellare farmhouse is set in private woods between the tiny villages of Doccia and Fornello, fractions of Molino del Piano, Pontassieve county, in the Florence province. Although it's in a very private spot, it takes minutes to arrive to the closes restaurant and grocery store, and less than a half an hour to get in the centre of Florence. There's also a very convenient train station, in Sieci, 6 km away from Castellare. In a short drive you can get there, park your car safely and for free, and take a commuter train to the centre of Florence. It only takes 15 minutes, and trains are very frequent. There are two horse riding places within a ten minute drive, two golf course within a 25 minute drive, and tennis camps in Molino del Piano. All major cities of Tuscany are within an hour drive, and you could even go to the beach, swim in the sea and come back in a morning.
Other Activities: Wine tasting! food! Florence! peace....
