If you're looking at the upper echelon of properties to stay in on the beach in Ipanema, look no further, this IS the place! I looked at places for months and finally settled on Steve's apartment. It is phenomenal! It's directly across the street from the beach between Posto 9 and 10, slightly closer to Posto 10. This is the best part of Ipanema! The area is very safe. You can walk to tons of great restaurants with 5 to 10 minutes. There is also a beach club right across the street for beach fun and great music. The building is very safe with excellent security guards 24hrs. Particularly appreciated the guard Alejandro, he was great! Communication with Steve was excellent. Easy and smooth check in. The apartment itself is even better than it looks in the photos. Very spacious and comfortable. Great air conditioning if you need it. There is daily cleaning service that knows to come in after you leave the apartment. He provides towels and linen for you. You don't need to bring anything with you (except for face cloths for showering which apparently are not part of Portuguese culture).
Importantly he has multiple 110 power outlets so you don't need convertors if you are coming from the US or Canada! The apartment could not have been better and worth every dime. Would give my highest recommendation without reservation to rent Steve's apartment for a fun and safe trip to Rio. Will come right back here next time I'm in Rio.
