We had a wonderful holiday at 'Au Mauvais'. The house was glorious, so much room, & everything we wanted was there - you have thought of everything! The children and parents loved the pool. We all had a marvellous time and can thoroughly recommend it..................

We had a lovely holiday in your house, I can honestly say it was the cleanest and most comfortable we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in quite a few!). I really wished I could pick the house up and bring it home. Everything was perfect!................

We had a lovely time, thank you. I particularly appreciated things like the nice bed linen, good pans, and smart cooker - maybe I'm just getting old! The girls were very impressed by the video collection. We all appreciated the spaciousness and general standard of comfort. The standard of cleanliness and freshness was excellent too - which really helps make it a holiday!................

A well-maintained home in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Au Mauvais was spotlessly clean and well-maintained. It offers spacious accommodation that allowed my father to stay with us using the upstairs bedroom and bathroom while we used the ground floor. It is located on a generous plot, that includes well-kept lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers, as well as woodland and a stretch of river. The owners have clearly given thought to the details so that it's easy to settle in and fell at home immediately.

The city of Bergerac is 30-40 minutes away. There is a small airport there which was convenient for my father to fly to. Duras is only 20 minutes away. The chateau there is well worth a vist and we enjoyed a delicious meal at the Hostellerie des Ducs.

If you just want to relax, as we did, Au Mauvais has everything you need. There are two supermarkets within 10 minutes drive. The property is well furnished, inside and out. You can walk in the woods, by the river, to nearby villages or relax in or by the pool. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a charcoal barbeque for outdoor cooking.

David and Christine, an English couple who take care of the property, presented it in imacculate condition and were helpful without being intrusive during our thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Second time we have been here !

  • 5 of 5

We booked up quickly after our first visit as we didn't want to miss out on another fantastic family holiday.

A beautiful house in lovely well kept grounds in the middle of the country, but close enough to local facilities and superb restaurants.

David and Christine made us very welcome and whilst we never needed to call them they were easily contactable. Couple of visits general maintenance visits and a quick chat was ideal.

Whilst the owner has his own holiday accommodation on site, he respects visitors privacy and is never there when visitors are occupying the main house.

The grounds are extensive and great for a morning/evening stroll. We regularly saw a hare running around early evening whilst dining on the patio, and on another occasion a deer strolled by about 25 yds away !

A great holiday and looking forward to another visit next year.

Ideal location, lovely grounds, and very quiet, beds hard and pillows like bricks, pool very cold could not use second week , dishwasher not washing properly and the same with the washing machine. there were some dirty glasses and some dirty plates , bath towels small like hand towels need upgrading. outside chairs a little worst for wear as one gave way

Property very clean on arrival.

Owner's Response: Being a repeat guest they have previously experienced the property and it's facilities. Having tested the electrical items I have found them to be in perfect working order, and was never informed about a problem during their stay. Nothing can be done when you have left.

Great holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Wow !! This home is really brilliant. We had a family holiday of six adults and our grandson and everyone had plenty of space and comfort.

It has a wonderful homely feel to the house and Christine and David are on hand to help with anything.

The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need for a family holiday.

We can recommend this home without reservation.

Fantastic spring break

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at au Mauvais for a week in May. We wanted a holiday with my in laws, my parents and our 6 month old daughter. This was perfect. The weather was lovely and we managed to use the pool for 3 days. The house was so comfortable, the cleanliness of the property was amazing and it felt like home. We have had a few holidays in rented properties and none have measured up to this one. The standard of decoration and maintenance of the beautiful gardens is a testament to Jane and Trevor they obviously care greatly and have great taste.

The surrounding area is beautiful and St Emilion is worth the day trip, only 40 mins away, lovely views and wine!!

I would strongly recommend this property to all and we have already booked our summer holiday for 2011.
