Around Paleocastritsa: The villa is situated in a quiet location above an olive grove and above the road on a cliff edge, 5 to 10 mins walk from the beaches and small supermarkets. The Odysseus Hotel (a small family taverna) just below us offers our guests free use of their swimming pool and other facilities (1 min walk). They host a Greek dancing night every week. From the door of Villa Steph you can walk (45mins) on a very old Byzantium pathway up the mountain to the village of Lakones. The views are amazing over the blue Ionian sea to the Albanian mountains on a clear day. There are tavernas and the famous Bella Vista cafe and viewpoint. The scenes are breath taking. There are many small picturesque, interesting villages within a few kilometres drive where you can experience the Greek village life at first hand and visit their churches/museums. There is a bus that runs every 30 minutes from Paleocastritsa to Corfu town in the summer. Corfu town is 25 kms away. The Delfini taverna below Villa Nola is perfect for meals and a swim. Great many tavernas within walking distance.

Corfu Town : Kerkyra ( known as Corfu) The café at the Liston was built by the French in 18th century. The Palace of St. Michael and St. George to the left of the Liston, was built by the British and used as the official residence of the Governor. Prince Philip was born there.St. Spiridon's Church, home to the island's patron 'mummified' saint, is just behind the Liston. The church is impressive and worth visiting, but ensure you are suitably dressed. During the summer there are nightly musical performances of Sound & Light. (The second world war British hospital at the centre of the fort has now been turned into a music school.) The fort is worth a visit during the day. Facing the Liston Esplanade is the Old Fort which was built between the 6th & 19th centuries. The narrow streets radiating off from the Liston, house small shops, churches old mansions, museums or a secret garden. Shopping in all the small shops is a delight and eating at the small tavernas.Fast Wireless Internet at the Villa.

Greek Way of Life, Flora and Fauna : Timing. Greeks do not expect quick service and often frown upon food that is too hot! Waiters will not rush you and will rarely deliver food in the same order as it was placed. Dishes sometimes arrive as and when they are ready - just sit back and relax and you will soon adjust to the Greek way of life! Corfu is small enough to be friendly and large enough to provide you with a never ending change of scenic beauty. And it is never difficult to get from one part of this island paradise to another. Drive around Corfu you can discover the magnificently scenic East coast to the equally impressive, more rugged and quieter West coast. The drives are picturesque, past quaint little villas and thousands of olive trees. The roads aren't crowded, except around the town centre for despite its centuries of history and its splendid beaches and sunlit bays, Corfu remains unspoilt. The olive groves on the property are 2,000 years old. Above the villa is a 72 sq metre patio with stunning sea views use for Stephanie guests. Our rates are as advertised all local taxes and running costs are included. No extra charges from the Owner.

About Jane Victoria Thomson

Family has owned the land since 1969 and we have slowly built the two villas and invested in the land and have protected the beautiful views. I am British but have lived abroad for 40 years. Born in Nottingham and grew up in Cornwall and worked in London and abroad. I am happily married with one child and two step children. I have had the honour and pleasure to work for such companies as Vogue Magazine (Conde Nast) in London, The Guardian, Emirates Airlines. I now live in Corfu and I am there to welcome you and Jimmy (Dimitri) helps with the garden and is our handyman. I love my home and its location and views and love sharing it with guests who understand what we have to offer in our simple, Greek way.

What makes this villa unique

Registered with and member of the Greek Tourism Board MHTE number 0829K121K0201900. The 72 sq metre patio up the steps really adds to the whole and is just the place for meals and sundowners with breathtaking sea and mountain views! A 300 degree around panoramic view! Characterful patio wall against the mountain side with old Greek architecture and design. The kitchen has a full size oven n ow with ceramic tops and two fridges, washing machine and microwave. Aland oil central heating in both rooms. King sized bed in the villa. Stephanie is cosy and homely nestled in our 1000 year old olive trees with shade from the hot sun. The villa is very much loved and it shows. You can read from our reveiws how much!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I had a really super holiday, thank you and am now back at work. The glitches we encountered were really so minor that they had no bearing on the fun and friendship I enjoyed. Von is so professional that she had everything sorted and smoothed over in such a way that everyone affected simply felt glad that she was around! Not many people give as much as she does to their clients. I can't imagine a big company being able to offer the personal attention that one gets from you and the folk you have engaged to represent you in Corfu.

I would love to stay at Villa Stephanie again next year on the equivalent dates in June 2015.

Notes:
Great getaway, relaxing place but still enough to do for the children. Good idea to rent a car to see the island but if staying only a week then there is plenty to do in Paleocastritsa. There is a bus stop into Corfu town below the villa. 30 minutes to Corfu town.

Loved our stay!

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect for us. Very well equipped kitchen. Lots of outside space with choice of places to sit and admire the amazing views. Both bedrooms had lots of hanging space and wonderfully comfortable beds. AC (very important, it was hot!). Would recommend and hopefully we will be back!

Fantastically located with amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was wonderful from start to finish. Th villa was spotless and had all of the facilities we needed for our visit. The AC was a blessing at night and the views from the terrace and the veranda were stunning.

Jane, the owner, was there to meet us and couldn't do enough to help - she was wonderful company!

We would definitely recommend Villa Nola and would love to visit again soon!

Owner's Response: Such a reward to get 100 percent 5star reviews this year as other years . It is a chalet style one floor villa but really does have all you need plus the new roof with great insulation. The air conditioners cool down the rooms Immediately when switched on if required. The views of course are amazing 😉

Ticks all the boxes for a great holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Villa Nola is a chalet style villa on the hillside above Paleokastritsa facing in a south / south-easterly direction, which means you get full-on sunshine throughout the day and (very welcome) evening shade as the sun sets. To the south the views over the bays are spectacular; to the north and east you have the equally spectacular mountains. The villa was very clean and tidy and everything worked. The side veranda is great for eating out with a lovely cooling breeze coming down from the mountains in the evenings and coming up from the sea in the mornings.

The location is very convenient for the swimming pool at the Odysseus Hotel (which has a poolside snack bar), for accessing Paleo itself which is spread out along the main road below Nola, and for accessing a variety of eating establishments. Our favourites were the Dolphin and the Belvedere - a mere 3 minute walk from Nola.

We rented a car from the airport at Corfu Town so also visited other towns around the island, however you don't really need to as everything is within easy walking distance, including the village of Lakones high on the hill above Villa Nola. You've got to visit Dolce, a cafe-bar with the best views ever and very good ice cream too. Be prepared for a bit of exercise.

The villa owners, Jane and Malcolm, were in discreet attendance throughout our stay and were very welcoming. They were always happy to help and were flexible over our departure time for a late flight home (thank you Jane and Malcolm!).

In summary, if you have concerns about everything 'fitting together' with Villa Nola, then don't! I am a fussy customer when it comes to holidays and Villa Nola works remarkably well. The villa, the location, parking, access to the pool, supermarkets, restaurants .... A great holiday package with a sense of individuality!

Lovely homely villa with a stunning view in probably the prettiest place in Corfu

  • 5 of 5

A lovely homely villa in In a great location in Paleokastrista. The villa has all the necessary amenities to make your stay comfortable and overlooks a beautiful bay which you can enjoy at your leisure from the villas large patio. There is lots of sitting and lounging room outside and it is very peaceful. A short walk will take you to some great beaches, bars and restaurants. Although only a short walk, it is on a small hill and those who are not physically able may find this a challenge.

Jane and Malcolm the villa owners were lovely respectful people, they were very welcoming and ready available if need be, to advise on places to go, swim, eat and were a fountain of knowledge about the local and wider area. We've had a wonderful time staying at the villa and can thoroughly recommend staying here to anybody considering a holiday in Paleokastrista
