About the property

Secluded house with pool, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 12

Leinprat is a traditional Breton farmhouse set in a delightfully tranquil valley 30 minutes from the south coast of Brittany. The large secluded garden, with a fenced and heated swimming pool is ideal for both children and adults. Leinprat can sleep up to 12 people in 1 large family room, 2 double and 3 twin bedrooms, with 3 bathrooms. There is a fully equipped kitchen, updated in 2016, and an attractive living/dining room with granite fireplace, wood burning stove and French doors onto a large south-facing terrace, with table, chairs and barbecue.

Leinprat is less than a mile from the pretty village of Guenin, which has bakers, general store, butchers, post office, church and several lively bars. The house is only 3 minutes from Baud, where there is a good selection of restaurants, supermarkets, shops and a weekly market. The property is within easy reach of the Gulf of Morbihan, the historic cities of Josselin, Auray and Vannes, five excellent golf courses, numerous walks and cycle paths, and popular fishing rivers.

The Local Area: Leinprat is situated in a diverse and beautiful region of Southern Brittany. The scenic coastline of the Gulf of Morbihan and the Quiberon Peninsula are surrounded by rich and varied countryside and charming medieval towns and villages. You can soak up the Celtic culture at 'Pardons and Fest Noz', the local Celtic festivals, or enjoy the buzz of the daily markets with an excellent selection of fresh produce. There are plenty of opportunities to sample the wonderful restaurants, local seafood and wines from all over France, in addition to the Breton specialities, such as crepes and galettes.

The area is ideal for cyclists. Safe cycling for children along the banks of the Beautiful river Blavet.

Outdood private heated pool available May-September.

Ask when booking for lower price for second or third weeks.

Places to Visit: You can visit the medieval walled town of Vannes, home of the Ducs de Bretagne, the bustling market town of Auray with the picturesque 17th Century Port of St. Goustan, or the quaint medieval town of Josselin, famous for its riverside chateau. At Carnac you can experience the mystery of the largest site of standing stones in Western Europe, a marvel to rival Stonehenge, and then move along the coast to Trinite Sur Mer, the heart of Southern Brittany's sailing community, where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the regular regattas, and the lovely choice of seafood restaurants.

The coast of Brittany offers a superb choice of beaches with endless stretches of white sand or sheltered bays with rock pools. From the fashionable Carnac Plage to the unspolit Erdeven and the wild Cote Sauvage at Quiberon, there is something for everyone. A full range of water sports are offered along the coast, such as sailing, wind surfing, para surfing, jet skiing and diving.

Activities: There are many established walking, cycling and horse riding circuits providing a relaxing way to enjoy the best of the Breton countryside. Local riding stables offer leisurely treks through forests, and the French Cycling Federation has awarded the Valley of the Blavet official recognition, with new tracks and circuits being created. The local tourist centres can provide maps and routes or organised guided walks.

Enjoy 18 holes on one of the 5 quality golf courses in the area. 'Formule Golf' offers excellent value passes giving you unlimited golf for 3 or more consecutive days on all 5 courses.

The River Blavet and its tributaries offer miles of unspoilt river banks for fishing, and the Blavet is reputed to be one of the best coarse fishing rivers in France. Permits are easily available and reasonably priced. There are also canoe/kayak facilities on the River Blavet which offer both lessons and hire.

Why Shaun Desmond chose Pontivy area

I first saw this house while visiting my parents. It was an unfinished project which needed repairs and modernisation. I fell in love with the location and privacy. I always find it very peaceful and relaxing when I stay, normally 3 or 4 times a year.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The half acre secure and private garden with your own heated pool and large terrace are lovely in the summer. The wood burning stove makes the living room very cosy the rest of the year

Family holiday in Leinprat

  • 5 of 5

i would like to begin by saying that the picture on the website does not do the property justice. The property was lovely in the respect of the stone finish and the surroundings. My youngest son (12) was never out the pool which was clean and a nice temperature during the week. Outwith the pool there was the facility to play other games as in french bowls, skittles and ball games due to the size of the gardens (bowls, skittles and balls were all on the property). The house was cleaned to a very high standard and midway through our week a man came in to clean the pool, cut the grass and ask if everything was to our satisfaction. The village itself is the France of old, very quiet, with a nice pattisarie, couple of nice bars and within a mile walk. The main town is baud which i have to say has everything you need, supermarkets to restaraunts and i thought not to badly priced. Over the duration of our week we never ate out at night because of the weather and the facilities in the house we always had a barbeque or made a meal in the house. Supermarkets we found overall were priced similar to back home but the standard of food i thought was better in france. I have visited Paris a few times and to be honest i was not taken by the people, maybe because everything seems to be going at 100mph but in baud they could not have been nicer, i got the impression that people would go there to retire. We had a couple of days away which we enjoyed, one day we went to Carnac which is a seaside resort with arcades, restaraunts and a lovely beach which the kids loved, the other day we had a trip to Vannes which has alot of history and architecture and a good market.

My whole experience with dealing with the owner, the house and the holiday was second to none, i would, in actual fact i have already recommended leinprat to my family and friends and there is a very good chance we will go back out in the near future. It is a place that your holiday can be as busy or as quiet as you would like. I was there with another 5 adults, 4 children (16,15, and 2 at 12), and they always say that if your kids are happy then you are happy and this was certainly the case, if they were not in the pool they had the option with the games and at night they had all the dvds to watch (which were there),

Without hesitation i would recommend leinprat, my only advise would be to make sure you have a car ,

Owner's Response: An excellent review. I am pleased that they enjoyed their holiday. It is always good to know that guests like it enough to recommend it to their familly and friends. I holiday there at least twice a year and agree that the locals are very friendly and helpful. This year Iate out twice in Baud and both meals were excellent.

Home from home.

Fantastic place to stay. Far enough from the beach to make us do other things but nearer enough for the sandcastle builders and surfers amongst us.Children loved the pool and the outside space. Plenty of sleeping accommodation for the 11 of us. Great holiday to celebrate my 70th birthday. Altogether an excellent well maintained holiday home.

Lovely holiday home for large group

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely week at Leinpret. The accommodation itself was perfect for our group (3 families, 6 adults, 6 children and a baby!). The house was clean, well stocked with everything we needed during our break and the kids loved the garden and pool. This property was also ideally located for local amenities and exploring Brittany.

Very Impressed

  • 5 of 5

We throughly enjoyed our stay here in June 2015. The house was just what we were looking for. It has plenty of space for larger groups / families. The pool was essential for relaxing in the afternoon. The location is very quiet, but that's what we wanted. The owners were certainly helpful and we will certainly stay here again.

rural Brittany

  • 5 of 5

The directions to Leinprat worked well and we arrived on schedule.A welcome basket of bread wine milk etc was in the fridge and was much appreciated.

The property is exactly as described in ad. We found the kitchen a little cramped for all our "foodies" but soon organised things to our needs...the amazing cooker was an experience !

Needless to say the pool was the star attraction and each day ended with children playing in the pool until having to be dragged to the meal table....usually outside having used the excellent bbq.

An easy walk to the baker each morning and plenty of supermarkets nearby.

About 50 mins to beach but plenty of choice from usual rocky coves to miles of flat sand.

No shortage of equipment in the house...for kichen and for beach...also huge collection of dvd's.

We all enjoyed our stay here, many thanks d & s.

Great Holiday at Leinprat

  • 4 of 5

We spent a very enjoyable week at Leinprat, on a three generation family holiday, with 8 adults and four small children aged 1 to 5. The house accommodated us easily and had everything we needed. The children loved the large garden and the pool and we all enjoyed sitting out for our meals in the evening. The area has lovely unspoilt Breton countryside. The nearest town Baud has several good supermarkets and a good restaurant at Le Cheval Blanc. The children enjoyed La Balade du Pere Nicolas at Rohic, a small leisure park not far from Leinprat, with animals, games and a train, and the old Breton Village de Poul Fetan at Quistinic. Carnac Plage has a lovely beach (where you can park for free!), and plenty of restaurants. The castle at Josselin has a fascinating and very bloody history, and they have English guides. The owners of Leinprat were very helpful, providing an extra cot for us, and a welcome pack of food in the fridge.
