Excellent Lodging
The Little Red Inn is a perfect place to have a large group of family stay and be very comfortable! My brothers and their adult children came for my mom’s 80th birthday celebration. The cabin was close to town, very clean and comfortable! We had a great time making s’mores at the fire pit a few nights. Highly recommend!

About the host

Hosted by Matt Brown and Joy Falkenburg

Host profile image
Dr. Joy Falkenburg and her husband, Matt Brown, have lived in the Black Hills since 1999. In 2013, they purchased the Little Red Inn and opened it for use as a vacation home the following year. They reside next to Custer State Park with their family and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Black Hills and all it has to offer all year long. They are locally available to give advice and help with needs that may arise.

Why they chose this property

We live just down the road from the Little Red Inn. It had been for sale and every time we drove by we thought about buying it and opening it up for vacationers to enjoy when they stayed in the Black Hills. It is in a beautiful location and is close enough to both Custer and Custer State Park to be the perfect spot for people who are visiting the Hills. The granite outcroppings east of Custer and Calamity Peak are just across the road from the Little Red Inn. Calamity Peak is one of the most photographed granite peaks in the Hills.
It is fantastic in any season. The snow falling on the granite outcroppings is incredibly beautiful and the green grass and quietness of the Hills are soothing.
I love the two areas of the house where adults can sit and visit but kids could watch TV at night in the lower level. I like to be able to visit with my family when I travel and put kids to bed if need be. Also, kids need a space to run and play. This offers a safe place for them to play and enjoy the outdoors.

What makes this property unique

A true Black Hills Experience. Enjoy the night air around the firepit. During the day, go see the sights.
