About this property

Secluded, Romantic, Family Friendly And Cozy, Last House In The Valley.

Enjoy the privacy of the outdoors and conveniently close to La Crosse!

Here you can 'get away' from the world and enjoy the cozy and secluded comfort of the country. This is the last house in the valley and offers a serene view of the coulee. Often deer and turkey will find their way to the field below the house and you will have the perfect sitting area to watch them feed and play.

In the winter, pack your cold weather wear and go for a walk along the creek or up the logging trail for a view of the coulee below. Bring your snowshoes for a winter walk. Or if you prefer, go sledding on the hill in front of the house. (sleds provided). Whatever you choose to do, even if you stay indoors, you will enjoy the serenity of the valley.

If you like to ski, we are located just a few minutes from Mt. La Crosse.

If you are snowmobilers, the state trail is located less than a mile from the house and you can drive your snowmobile to the trail or drive your trailer to the trail, park and hop on from there.

In warmer weather, you can enjoy walks along the creek looking for fish and beavers or take a walk up the logging trail and see if you can spot a deer or other wildlife. Pack a picnic lunch and sit down by the creek and enjoy the sounds of water flowing over the rocks and the other sounds of nature.

At night, sit around the fire pit to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

If you want to venture out, La Crosse, Coon Valley, Westby and Viroqua are just a few miles away and offer various fun activities, dining and unique shopping. Or if you are looking for a drive and shopping through Amish country you are close to that as well.
Historic downtown La Crosse also offers a wide array of dining venues, theatre, live music, art galleries, shopping and bars.

Our home is nicely located close to the city whether you’re coming for a getaway, to meet family and friends, or to enjoy one of the local events or festivals such as Applefest, Riverfest, Oktoberfest, Irishfest, Syttende Mai, Norskedalen, The Beer, Wine and Cheese Festival, The State Track and Field competition, Westby Ski Jump , or to visit Family and Friends at UW-La Crosse, Viterbo College, or Western Wisconsin Technical College, we are just a short drive into town.

Our home offers 5 Bedrooms: 2 King beds and 3 Queen beds and also a queen size pull out sofa bed in the lower level. There are three bathrooms, one on the main level, one in the master bedroom and a spacious new bathroom located in the lower level.

Beautiful and Peaceful!
This was the perfect place for our family/friends to stay for a basketball tournament weekend. I loved waking up and drinking my coffee while looking out at the beautiful bluffs! Jerry and Joan were wonderful hosts and made sure our stay was seamless.

About the host

Hosted by Joan and Jerry

Host profile image
Joan and Jerry are local to the area and recently purchased the house and 10 acres with is attached to the family's original 100 acres of land. The property is amazing...you will be drawn to look out the windows at the view! We are committed to making this a gem of a destination! We personally take each stay seriously and our goal is to make it the best experience possible for you.

Why they chose this property

This property is located on Joan's original family homestead. Joan's great, great grandparents came to Wisconsin from Germany and moved into Chipmunk Coulee in the late 1800's. Her Great Grandparents farmed this land and lived in the coulee, raising 7 sons. The historic hay barn that is located next to the house was built by her great grandfather and a neighbor in the early 1900's. The 10 acres of property was originally part of the family land and we are happy it can stay in the family! This land has been in the family for years and has provided us all with a lifetime of memories! We look forward to sharing the magic of Chipmunk Coulee with you!

What makes this property unique

What is unique is that our last name is Unser, which in German means 'our'. We hope you enjoy your stay at Unser Haus!
