Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, Maximum Number of Guests is 8. Sleeps 4 in Beds.

This 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin sits near the top of the ridge over looking Second Mountain to the west. The cabin has several sky lights in the ceiling which brighten the rooms nicely. There are two decks, one off the kitchen on the second level and then another off the living room on the first level. The kitchen has all new stainless steel appliances and a nice gas stove.

We do allow for one night stays, but there is two night minimum for weekend stays (either Friday and Saturday night or Saturday & Sunday nights).

Pets are welcome but we do require a Pet Fee of $55 per pet when pets stay at the cabin.

On clear nights, you can see thousands of stars overhead. It is a beautiful sight. Also during the spring and summer months, you can see humming birds everywhere. We place feeders off the front porch of the house and have personally seen upwards of 20 birds feeding on them at one time. Because this is a real cabin, there are things you should expect to find, such as spider webs (we clean them for every guest but they do reappear quickly), ladybugs, insects, tiny critters & stink bug(s) during certain times of the year.

During snow or ice or after heavy rains the roads can at times be muddy. We now have a full sized backhoe available to plow the roads though. We hope to be able to pave the road in the future. We just want our guests to know that mountain roads are not perfect by any means (they are gravel or shale), but we will make sure you can get your car up year round no matter the weather. You can always park at the parking space at the bottom if you'd like to too. There steps to access the house from both the top and the bottom parking areas. :)

Check in time is 4:00 pm until 10 pm and checkout is 11 am. Early check-ins, before 4, or Late check-ins, after 10 pm, and late check-outs, after 11 am, require a $20 per hour fee and prior approval. Please ask in advance about late check-ins. Katie & I personally own every cabin that we manage. We or our helpers, check-in all of our guests personally.

Guests are required to sign a rental agreement upon arrival and a photo ID. For this reason, the person who makes the reservation has to be the there at the time of check-in, unless the contract is signed and arrangements are made for someone else to check-in in advance.

Sleeps 8 means that is how many people we allow to stay not how many people fit in beds. Remember this property only has two bedrooms with one queen bed each. So four people can fit in beds. Kids or teenagers can sleep on the couches.

There are trails and rivers within walking distance of the cabin as well as direct private access to the national forest from our land. The views from the cabin are definitely better in the winter when there are no leaves on the trees.

The cabin does have both WiFi and a TV. There is a large TV in the living room.

No smoking in the cabin. No beer pong or Hookahs. Noise must kept to a minimum and quiet hours are 9 pm to 9 am.

All pet fee(s), early check-in or late check-out, firewood or extra person fees are not refundable once paid.

Failure to show up/check in or contact owner before midnight of day of arrival will result in cancellation. Host reserves the right to rebook property if guest does NOT contact owner.

Owners are not responsible to mail or hold on to left items.

No check-ins or checkouts on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day. Owners only have the right to cancel a reservation without refund for reservations made to check in or out on these days. If owners allow the booking, a charge of $100 will be charged to check-in.

Worked For What We Needed

  • 3 of 5

Three of us went down to the property which is not as difficult to find as it seems.

There are multiple properties within shouting distance but we had enough privacy.

The fire pit was a nice size, and you must buy firewood from them. No fires may have extra fuel after midnight. We purchased infinite, I would recommend less.

Two floors, two full size beds. Washer and Dryer. Single Bathroom with a Shower and a large sink/counter. Water pressure was decent in both the kitchen sink and bathroom. Couldn't figure out cable/satellite tv, but they do have a netflix account you can log your personal one into, and a blu-ray player which you can take your own movies. Wifi was good. Two large couches. The A/C is two window units which set low enough would blow very cold (one of those units filters needed cleaned badly). The kitchen table upstairs is ideal for 4 people, and the table outside had 3 chairs.

Some things that could be improved -

We didn't receive the extra contract paperwork until the morning of our departure which would have been nice to review prior considering we had questions. I can understand managing multiple properties considering the owners I believe are located elsewhere, but the tracking of the clients could be improved as on the last day I asked about trash removal and they didn't have my number on file, last name, or property area until I gave them the address (the trash information should have been in the contract).

The kitchen could have had a few more dishes and utensils for cooking/grilling, and they could have been washed better. We brought our own dishwasher tablets and cleaned all of the dishes so they looked clean without spots. The kitchen sink is large and worked well, and the island counter space was decent for what we needed, it was lifting in the corner and needs repaired. An umbrella or shade on either deck would have been desirable, as well as knowing prior to departure on whether we would use charcoal or gas for the grille (its a charcoal grille). The grille needs new grates/coatings, and the charcoal tray needed emptying.

We would have swept the kitchen up and the whole house before we left, but we could only find a dustpan.

I read the other reviews before going, the communication I agree needs improved. This property has a lot of potential to be a 5 star based on the price and size. We only used it to sleep and eat after seeing the limitations.

Great Cabin. Beautiful Setting.

  • 5 of 5

Very nice cabin. Nice mountain views from the living room. Cabin was warm and very cozy. Beds were extremely comfortable. Fast internet. I wish I had a gas stove this nice in my house at home. Area was very pretty and it was very peaceful. We hope to come again and experience the area in spring time.

Cute little cabin in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

We had a really nice stay at this cute little cabin in the national forest. It was much cuter than the photos showed and we really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the scenic area. The weather was great so were able to grill out and eat on the deck. The beds were great and we slept wonderfully. The kitchen had everything we could needed and the owners were very friendly and very responsive. Fast wifi was an added bonus too. Our cell phones even worked. There were some nice trails nearby and the cabin was just the right distance from town, under 15 minutes, so going out to eat was an easy drive and yet we were far enough away from town to really be able to see the stars. We will be returning.

Beautiful Mountain Home with beautiful surroundings!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is another beautiful home offered by Katie and Steve and as always this was just as impressive as the other properties we have stayed in. We brought another couple along in this stay and they can't wait to come back again with us or alone!!! The house is beautifully done as always the furniture is very comfortable and makes you feel right at home!!! All you need to do is bring your food and your set!!! For the price you get a great place to stay that was below what we could pay for a hotel for 4 nights and you have the whole house!! Much better deal!!! Everything you need is within driving distance and you are right next to the National Forest which we took advantage of in a hike!!! If your on the fence of renting this property don't be it's great and enjoyable!!! Thank you Katie and Steve for another wonderful place to stay on our vacation!!!! Can't wait to come again!!
