Can Cruanyes has been recently restored and renovated into 3 individually styled apartments (1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom). The preservation of characteristic stone walls and vaulted ceilings allow the blending of old world charm with modern comfort and convenience.

Can Cruanyes extends over 20 acres of woodland and paddocks which also host the spacious non overlooked swimming pool and outdoor hot tub. Here you can swim or sunbathe surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountain peaks and forests. The child friendly garden with swings, sandpit, football goal, swing ball and table tennis are great fun for both the young and the young at heart!

Each apartment has its own private terrace where you can dine alfresco while enjoying a glass of local wine under the stars. The BBQ and picnic area enjoy views from all sides, whether up to the mountain peaks above, down to the valley or across to the charming stone house.

We give you everything you'll need to feel at home, while still enjoying the comforts and ease of hotel-style convenience: from the WiFi internet and complementary toiletries to your own fully equipped kitchen - we have everything down to salad spinners and garlic crushers - if there's anything we forgot, tell us and we'll get one for you!

Holly can accommodate up to 4 people. The living area and kitchen area are open planned and have a very homely feel. Leading off the main living room there is a large bedroom and a smaller bedroom. The living area boasts a large window which gives a tranquil location to relax and look upon the woods adjacent to the farmhouse. Directly outside the apartment there is a seating area which gives a view of the higher mountains and the surrounding verdant forest areas around Can Cruanyes.

Wonderful retreat, clean and family friendly

A++ Donny makes for a friendly welcoming host. Our apartment was clean and well equipped. Great facilities and large grounds. Would highly recommend for a Spanish getaway. Wonderful hiking area with the beautiful wild mountains as your backdrop. Peaceful retreat away from all hussle but with easy access to local villages and towns. Our little boy loved it! Thank you.

Idyllic setting in mountains, lovely hosts

We loved and our stay here, and will definitely return, The property itself sits comfortably on the mountain, retaining much of its rustic charm, we found it idyllic, with much to do locally or further afield, we ran out of time, a week just wasn't long enough, I can't speak highly enough of Donny, he made us feel so welcome from the outset ,despite arriving at gone 2.30 in the morning! Throughout the week , nothing was too much trouble and we left feeling we had new friends in Spain,

It's the perfect place to sit and chill out, enjoying the pool , or to explore , there are some hidden gems and stunning scenery all around the immediate area, local shops are only a few minutes by car.

Thankyou so so much, looking forward to coming again in the not too distant future,

A relaxing holiday

A wonderful, relaxing, peaceful place to spend a holiday.

Plenty to do locally, walking etc, Besalu is a nice place to stroll around. The coast or the French border are within an hour, but we spent quite a bit of time staying around the apartment. We were there in the height of summer and the apartment stayed pretty cool. A couple of mountain bikes were available which kept our lads entertained. We'd certainly consider coming again.

Magnificent location, good facilities, great hosts

We found Can Cruyanes to be ideal for our needs. We all loved the pool and open grounds. The accommodation - Holly - was clean and well equipped. The setting is stunning and contributed greatly to a relaxed stay. We also found Can Cruyanes very handily located for visits to Gerona, the volcano area around Olot and the beaches of the Costa Brava.

We would recommend Can Cruyanes and hope to stay again.

Delightfully tranquil and comfortable home from home mountain retreat...

We arrived to be welcomed warmly by Donny, who is a charming and friendly guy. He and his wife Sibhan have created a great mountain retreat in the ideal location to explore the Pyrennees and surrounding countryside. The area is fantastic for walking and cycling (if you are pretty fit!), but is equally beautiful to explore by car. We also made a trip to the coast and found a delightful (uncommercial) beach, as advised in the house's file of useful information. It took us well under an hour to get there on very easy speedy roads. Also, the local medieval towns and villages offer great places to eat, drink and explore.

We stayed in 'Holly' - my husband and I with our 12 year old son. It was very comfortable for the three of us. The beds were comfortable and the house was well kitted out with everything we needed for our 5 night stay. I would suggest if you can, stop en route at the Spar Supermarket in Besalu to get provisions. We enjoyed time on the terrace each evening with a bottle of wine, which does get some sun through the day, and could just see the beautiful mountains from the very slightly over enclosed small terrace (I do understand why the fence has been put up, to give more privacy). We spent a good deal of time by the pool, which is a beautiful place to sit and take a dip in what was apparently unusually hot weather at over 37 degrees c.

A great trip, and we would definitely recommend and will definitely return! Thank you Donny and Sibhan x

Great time in Can Cruanyes

The location is perfect to visit many point of interest (Garotxa Volcanic Zone, Olot, Besalu, Figueres/Cadaqués, etc.)

The Catalan farmhouse is really charming and the appartment is well-maintained and very functionnal with lots of equipment for cooking.

The large swimming pool is clean and there is a lot of space for kids to play outside.

Our host Donny spent time with us to provide precious advices for visiting the area.

We would not hesitate recommending this place to anyone!

Well it was actually my father who spotted and restored the house originally. After running it for a number of years and feeling like Catalonia was our new home, we purchased it from him.
