wonderfull greek hospitality

We were the second time with Maria and Michalis and it was like coming home. They have welcomed us like dear friends and often treats with little gifts like wonderfull oranges and olive oil of best quality. The direct contact with them makes a Greece vacation so much more personal. Also the advice to discover the area of ??Michalis were wonderful. We'll be back!

A true Cretan experience

Lovely, well maintained, clean, excellent equipped property in a quiet, safe, peaceful village with an excellent choice of tavernas for eating out. The grounds are gorgeous and very well kept, the owners are among the friendliest people ever met! 5 minute car ride – car rental is a must - takes you to a choice of several beaches, hiking through gorges, enjoying the Satursdays market at Mires, picking the herbs from the meadows around the village, visiting ancient sites like Phaestos or Agia Triada and more. Can recommend the horse riding in Pitsidia which takes you through olive groves & down to the beach or exploring the caves at Matala beach where you can still find the spirit of »The Flower Power« hippie times. For those more active you can drive towards Rethimnon by the old road through the Psiloritis mountains with great views of the nature and relax at peaceful villages. Take a coffee in the lovely old town of Rethimnon, take a picture of the old venetian port or climb to the fortress. On the way back you drive through the gorge on the way to Plakias, take a swim at Damnoni or at one of the nicest beaches on Crete, Preveli beach. More spiritual tourist may visit the Preveli monastery. Or just enjoy sitting in the beautiful flowery courtyard in the shadow of Maria and Mihalis lemon and mandarin tree or under the vine trellis, learn Greek language or just watching the village life passes by. Maria & Mihalis were very friendly & helpful. Everyday they suprised us with small freebies like the grapes from their courtyard, organic olive oil from their own production, eggs from the village, watermelon, figs, wine, raki, lemon and more. We felt like we're the part of the village life and were also invited to the beach picnic with locals and some other visitors. They also offer free wi-fi internet access and other technical appliancies. We enjoyed the fact that there was no over commercialism in this area and we felt we had a true Cretan experience. Can highly recommend this village house – Horiatiko Spiti - if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday.

Oasis of tranquility

I had the most beautiful time, what a poetic and peaceful place to spend the most precious weeks of the year! The hosts are warm and welcoming, even though it was my first time there, it felt like coming home. I'll never forget this vacation and hope that I'll be able to come back soon.
