6 bedroom house, sleeps up to 13 with ease. Ideal for two or three families.

Our house is tucked away in the quiet little hamlet of Russbach-Gseng. The village and surrounding area is set amongst some stunning scenery and is a great venue for a memorable holiday. Whether you are looking for a place to get away from it all, an adventure packed holiday or somewhere to enjoy with your family and friends, this is a special place.

The house is about 200m² and the layout is great for two or more families. It consists of:

Ground Floor:

Entrance hall, very large garage (the other is kept locked by owners), boiler room (wood pellet boiler), wash room (recently re-decorated), cellar.

First Floor:

Wide entrance hall, kitchen, larder, sitting room, dining room, double bedroom, twin bedroom (bunk beds), toilet, shower room, 2 large balconies with excellent mountain views.

Second Floor:

Wide landing, two twin bedrooms, double bedroom with access to third balcony, family room (double bed and single), bathroom.

Large garden and several balconies to enjoy the views and mountain air.

WiFi and cable television.

About Alex & Lucy Balls

We are both teachers in independent schools. We have three young boys and the house is very much our holiday house. We have a love of the mountains, both for skiing and summer fun of walking, mountain biking, swimming in lakes etc etc (and, of course, climbing for Alex!).

Why Alex & Lucy Balls chose Lammertal - Dachstein West

The location, being on the outskirts of a traditional village but also so close to the lifts of the Dachstein West. The space inside also allows for everyone to get on with whatever they are doing without feeling too cramped.

What makes this house unique

A traditional house in the very friendly village of Russbach. It is in a quiet location but also only five hundred metres from the nearest lift (with easy parking and little queues) or indeed only one kilometre from the Hornbahn Ski Station. The house has plenty of space for two or more families to stay together without getting in each other's way. As for the summer, there is so much to do: active adventure in the mountains, fun for the children, culture in adundance or just relax and unwind on one of the balconies and admire the views!!!

The house is situated in the hamlet of Russbach-Gseng. The village of Russbach is a delightful little community at the heart of the Dachstein West Ski Region and on the edge of the Salzkammergut (the Austrian Lake District). This is an area loved by Austrian honeymooners and a cherished getaway for the citizens of Salzburg and, perhaps more importantly, is relatively little known elsewhere. This will surprise anyone who has visited what Emperor Franz Joseph I described as an 'earthly paradise' and been captivated by the beauty of its rugged mountains, pristine glacier lakes, forests and lush alpine meadows.

In the winter, the Dachstein West provides a most family-friendly resort (winner of various awards) but the area is also a fantastic summer holiday region (with plenty to do for the active, the health conscious, the culture lover and also for children).

The location of the Balls home in Russbach is great!

The house was perfect for a large family gathering. Except for a couple of mechanical issues our stay was ideal. It is located at the edge of Russbach which gives it the feel of being in the country. A lovely stream is across the street and we had free use of the Wasserpark pool in town everyday because of our rental. We were located in between Abentau's alpine slide and Golling's waterfall on one side and Hallstatt and Gosausee on the east. We enjoyed many outings. The hiking in the area was great. Please be aware that besides once a week garbage pick up, you are responsible for taking your own rubbish away. We found this very inconvenient since we were trying to leave.

All in all it was a wonderful rental in a quaint village.

Owner's Response: Glad you had a good time and got a feel for Russbach and the area, we think it is great too! New dishwasher, tumble dryer and iron bought this week...along with additional rattan furniture for the balcony at the back (to sit in the shade on those sunny afternoons) brought out from the UK. I hope the advice offered on activities helped with your week.

We had a great time in Russbach

The house is good equiped, big and have enough place for big group. It was very clean. The description of location was accurate. The owner was very helpfull. I recommend this property!!!!

A fantastic stay in a big, spacious, family house

I fell in love with the house. It was spacious, clean and very well equipped. The arrangement of rooms was effective for family living and enough room for adults and children alike. The quietness and solitude with the amazing views made it all the more special. Perfectly situated at the edge of the village which was delightful full. The views and scenery were breathtaking and the sounds of the trickling stream provided a very relaxed way of life. The house was well equipped and the rooms decorated to a good standard and made to feel extremely homely. The kitchen was lovely and sociable and it was lovely to be able to eat and have breakfast I. The same room. The balcony was large enough to offer alternative dining facilities and in the midst of summer it was a pleasant end to a day. As the sun went down many night were spent star gazing! Both bathrooms had effective showers which offered plenty of hot water and great pressure. The owners had spent time making sure their guests were fully catered for and lots of information and brochures were available for viewing. Overall it was a fantastic holiday with as much to do in the summer as the winter skiing season. There are plenty of local attractions and the house is perfectly situated to explore the region as and when we wanted to.

Great house

Great house. It was big enough for a big group. It has all the comfort you want (except maybe a frying pan).

Not everything was clean, but for the price we paid, it was oke. In 10 minutes it was clean enough.

Skiing was great. Unfortunately the snow became slushy because of the temperature, but we loved it anyway. We might come again....

Mooie grote familiewoning/Great familyhouse

Mooi groot vakantiehuis. Onze groep bestond uit 13 personen.

Voor een ieder was er een "echt bed" aanwezig en niet zoals je wel meemaakt een slaapbank of iets dergelijks.

Ook de woon-, eetkamer en keuken waren groot genoeg zodat een ieder kon kiezen waar hij ('s avonds) verbleef.

Met zo'n grote groep is er altijd wel eens spitsuur voor de douche/toilet.

Maar wij hebben ons prima met beide douches en twee toiletten gered.

Zelfs een wasmachine en wasdroger zijn aanwezig.

Het mailcontact met de engelse eigenaar verliep prima en onze wensen werden, omdat het in ons geval gelukkig kon, vervuld.

De liften voor skigebied, Dachten West zijn vlakbij.

Dit skigebied is perfect als je recreatief wil skiën. Wil je tochten gaan maken dan kan je beter naar het zuidelijker gelegen skigebied Ski Amede' rijden.

Op loopafstand ligt Gasthof Waldwirt hier kun je goed en lekker eten.

Kortom wij hebben ons goed vermaakt in (deze woning in ) Russbach.
