The house is situated on over 5000 m2 of non overlooked, private gardens at the end of a single lane, used almost exclusively by guests (and the postman). The garden offers uninterrupted views across Le Falgueyret valley and wider across the Perigord region.

The garden features dozens of mature oak, pine and fruit trees, (apple, prune, pear, fig, walnut and hazelnut). Please use the fruit/nuts in the garden during your stay!

The house was originally restored with exceptional vision by Bordeaux based artists in 1960’s.

Over the past 6 years the house has been fully modernized respecting the original features, (e.g. all rooms feature exposed original beams), to give a unique architectural and boutique feel combined with traditional features, ( e.g. Bread Oven).

May 2012 we completed a 10x5 m heated swimming pool with fully automatic integrated cover and a 7m x5m terrace. The pool and terrace like the rest of garden are very secluded and private.

The terrace has natural shade from the surrounding trees, but also the option to lounge in the sun.

The terrace has a large teak dining table, seating 8+ comfortably. Sunloungers / recliners are available also provided.

The pool house there is an additional fridge for refreshments and a toilet.

As of June 2016 integrated air conditioning has been added in each of the bedrooms and main living area.

About the Owner

Dominique and David are French and Irish respectively. Along with our 8 year old son Sebastien we live the majority of the time in Manchester, (but try to spend as much holiday time as possible inLe Falgueyret).

In late 2005 having spent a number of holidays in the Perigord region we decided to try and buy a house. We found this property in Feb 2006 and managed to complete the purchase in May 2006 in time to spend our honeymoon and first holiday there in June 2006.

We had a wonderful time, a glorious location and very peaceful (we were a bit worried about the farmer behind when we Googled).



One thing we decided was that in future we want a heated pool The fridge outside was a fantastic idea.



I am sure we will be back, this was our favourite so far and we have been out to France quite a lot now. If my husband hadn’t had meetings he couldn’t miss tomorrow we would have asked to extend our stay

Wonderful

We spent a wonderful fortnight at Le Falgueyret in August. The house was extremely well equipped, very comfortable and coped very well with 2 families. The heated pool was a real bonus and was well used when we weren't visiting local markets, canoeing and sightseeing.

Pascale met us when we arrived and was always available if we had a query or wanted some local knowledge - she was lovely.

The house enjoys wonderful views across to the local hamlet and sits on a large plot with plenty of space for children to play. We loved having different eating areas - we had breakfast at the front of the house and barbecued and ate in the back garden chasing the last of evening sun.

Superb

The house is wonderful. We had the most fantastic holiday in the heart of Perigord, and such easy access to great places, and our relaxing days by the pool were just brilliant.

The house has everything, plenty of space for two families and so relaxing. Two weeks wasn't enough!!

The location is excellent. Only 10 minutes to Limeuil and 30 minutes or so to the Les Eyzies valley and Bergerac. Domaine du Cantonnet in Meyrals is well worth a visit for a wine tasting. The amount of caves and places to go is so good, we packed so much in, and if you like canoeing try the Vezere river as an alternative to the Dordogne.

We have travelled a lot in France and this is such a great house and location we will definitely look to return.

All we could ask for and more...

As the title suggests, this house exceeded our expectations in many ways. As a family of five, with a very hectic lifestyle we were in desperately need in a peaceful, relaxing holiday with all the necessary amenities for a young family in a beautiful area. That is exactly what we got, along with lots of added extras.

After a very lengthy (17 hour) journey. We were greeted by the lovely, Pascale who was very welcoming and showed us around the farmhouse pointing out everything we needed to know. Pascale then left us to enjoy our holiday and we spoke again a couple of days before departure. We have previously known house keepers to be a little intrusive so this was great to be left to just enjoy our holiday.

The house is completely isolated and incredibly private with the exception of a couple of dog walkers you might see now and again. The grounds are well maintained and as beautiful as all of the pictures show. In fact the view from the pool is quite spectacular. The house is full of character and with all of David and Dominique's home comforts, you feel right at home.

We travelled to Le Falgueyret at the beginning of July 2016 and were blessed with great weather. This allowed us all to relax and spend quality family time together around the well equipped pool. There is a small pool house which houses some technical looking pool equipment along with a toilet, sink and fridge freezer. Perfect for two young children who quite often had to jump out the pool to use the loo! And of course we kept some drinks and ice lollies in there for cooling down in the heat.

As well as enjoying the pool, my husband utilised the mens bike and toddler seat and cycled to Ste-Alvere on several occasions for fresh pastries and breads. As I understand it he visited the Bar-Tabac whilst there so I'm not sure if there was an ulterior motive.

Our children are aged four, two and six months and so we were a little limited with activities. We visited Perigeux and had a train ride around the city and also went to Bergerac where we visited the market and found a boating lake for the children. This also had a bouncy castle and small cafe to enjoy afterwards.

The highlights of our holiday had to be the night markets which we all thoroughly enjoyed and are an absolute must for anyone visiting. We also visited a local restaurant called Juliens in Paunat - Amazing food!

This was the perfect place to reconnect as a family... somewhere we very much hope to visit again!

Private getaway in beautiful setting

Lovely property in a beautiful region. Modern amenities (new kitchen, pool, nespresso, A/C, weber bbq's etc.) while preserving historic character of the farm. The (heated) pool has views across the valley and the layout of the property makes it ideal for (two) families. Both owner as well as caretaker were very responsive and helpful. Perfect recipe for a lovely vacation - could not recommend more.

beautiful surroundings, lovely house

We had the most pleasant stay in this beautiful house. The garden is just amazing, offering lots of quiet hiding places and a large heated (!) pool with a gorgeous view.

perfect hideaway to spend an undisturbed holiday

We did spend a wonderful time with family and friends as a party of five and also three dogs. As the location is quite remote, you can enjoy absolute privacy but on the other hand, all necessary supply is in close range - if you do not fear a 45 minute walk you can reach the weekly market of the next village even by foot hiking through a light forest. The interior is perfect for a relaxing holiday and especially the full equipped kitchen (necessary in France's home of fine food) does provide the setup for all kinds of food. The absolute highlight came by accident - the airflow regulation of the Weber(r)-BBQ was out of function and we as BBQ-enthusiasts had to find a way to deal with this. After assessing the options, we started to reanimate the old baking house with an outstanding result. We even tried to make our own dough, but it did not work out, so we started to purchase dough from the local bakery and since then we had the best pizzas, focaccia with herbs and dried tomatos, olives and so on. In this oven/house we gratinated oysters, baked scallops, prepared fish, lobsters, duck-breasts and the great cote de boeuf. Everything came out perfect. The soar point is that I gained five kilos of weight in the three weeks holiday, but I do not regret any single bit. Unfortunately we did not manage to get a wild boar from the only farm close by as it would have been too much to get a whole one for only five people. If you are more, try this! Besides the cooking fun, the care taken by the nice couple responsible for the background organisation was overwhelming. The location itself is a mixture between decent luxury and paradise, a great pool area where you can chose between party, wellness and fun. The interior is a very interesting solution of combining the sections of an ancient farmhouse and it was done with great success. We just tried to find a negative point to give advise to the other guests, but we did not find one. So, it just remains to wish all of the following guests: enjoy your holidays, the setup is given...

Location

We had 3 main criteria when looking for a house... 1. Should be a private single house 2. Less than 45 minutes from a working airport 3. Have a working bakery and a bar within walking distance The house in Le Falgueyret is unique in terms of the architecture, layout and location. Despite the 6 inches of snow on the ground when we visited it was clear that it was the house for us, (but a much bigger project in terms of work that we understood at the time!).

Ste Alvere is a small village, (850 inhabitants), but provides excellent services with 2 bakeries, 2 restaurants, bar- tabac, bank, petrol station, tourist information office, library, medical centre, (including dentist and pedicure), florist, hairdresser etc.

Sainte Alvere has a weekly market on a Monday and also hosts the Black Truffle market December to February.

Within easy reach are some of the most beautiful villages in France (Limeuil, Paunat, Tremolat, Beynac, Belves, Les Eyzies etc.).

There are endless tourist options, gardens, castles, kayak, wildlife, horse riding, farms etc. that can be visited - guide books and some of our recommendations are available in the house. There are several excellent restaurants, from table d'hotes to Michelin star within 12km of the house.

The house itself is uniquely open plan and very practical for holiday living. The pool is state of the art, fully automatic and heated. There are separate dining areas surrounding the pool and on opposite side of the house. The comfort level of the house has been increased with the installation of air-conditioning in each of the rooms and main living area. We have incredible views across the valley countryside, while remaining very private. We are part of a beautiful traditional hameau of Le Falgueyret, (nearest house approximately 250 m away). Ste Alvere is a living village, 3km away, that punches above it weight with multiple facilities. It is famous among other things for the truffle market in winter. Ste Alvere is is at the heart of the perigord region with most tourist destination with easy reach, les Eyzies, Lascaux etc. Finally....there are black truffles in the garden (allegedly!) if you can find them. (There are multiple truffieres within a 1-2 km radius).

Please note the cooking hob is an induction cooker which is not recommended for people with a pacemaker.
