About Zoe Anderson

We're a family from London, UK who decided it would be fun to own our own holiday home after getting fed up renting sub-standard properties overseas. We've always loved Italy and fell in love with Le Marche for its charming purity.

Zoe Anderson purchased this villa in 2008

Why Zoe Anderson chose Mogliano

We wanted a home from home so we've done our best to make everything cosy, comfortable or essential for holiday fun. We searched high and low for somewhere that was easy to reach. We wanted our own private space but didn't want to be too cut off from civilisation and sought shops, bars and restaurants all within easy reach. As we use the property all year round we can enjoy the mountains, beach and long country strolls any time the mood takes us.

What makes this villa unique

We fell in love with the house instantly because it was so typical of the area. Even before the house was renovated when we had no running water and windows were a distant dream we just loved gazing through the pine trees, over the fields to the distant mountains.

As well as ample storage space for clothes you'll find handy bed side tables with reading lamps and hair dryers in every room. The master bedroom has a wonderfully large en-suite bathroom with walk in shower and bath and another bedroom has a very nice shower room. There is also a wooden cot available with bed linen and other cots can be organised too if they are required. There is plenty of space for cots in all of the bedrooms.

When we restored the house it was our intention to try to get out to the house as much as possible which is why we've tried to create a home from home. Everything there is cosy, comfortable or essential for holiday fun. The house is very old and has lovely thick walls keeping it naturally cool in summer. All the windows are fitted with traditional wooden shutters to keep the house warm in winter and cool in summer. Mosquitoes can be a pain in high summer so every window has been fitted with mosquito nets so you can keep the windows open all night when it’s hot. The house is gated and there is plenty of space for parking cars under shady trees outside the house. The house sits in a large garden with lots of space to play and kick a ball around. There are pine, walnut and fruit trees to plunder from plus our 200 year old oak tree which you'll adore trying to fit your hands around. There is an unrestored pig shed in the grounds which is used for storage.

Chic country house with private pool in Le Marche, Italy
average rating of 5.0 based on 31 reviews

Lovely, comfortable holiday home.

  • 5 of 5

Set in a valley in a very rural location, the house is very well equipped. Spent many hours sitting around the large kitchen table whilst one of us would be preparing dinner. Local food and wine very good. Unfortunately couldn't avail ourselves of sitting outside after late afternoon as the Mosquitos were a problem, despite Jungle formula and burners. The owners also provided a drawer of repellant stuff. Thank you.

Swimming pool was lovely. All regularly attended to.

House also kept very clean.

Wine, milk and some food was awaiting our arrival..again many thanks.

Housekeeper was excellent and responded to queries immediately.

Only slight quibble would be that the sheets on the beds were duvet covers, so not really sufficient to cover comfortably on the occasional cooler night and the mattress protectors need washing between guests.

There was always lots of hot never ran out, despite being such a large group.

Lovely holiday..many thanks for sharing your ' away home '

Beautiful, family friendly country house

  • 5 of 5

Casa Lucciola is the perfect house for families. The location is peaceful, interiors elegant and comfortable, grounds large and well equipped.

We loved the children's room with all the toys and books (our children were in heaven discovering the hampers full of brio, Lego, K' next and dolls) but the huge DVD library, pool and trampoline ensured that there was always something to do.

There are some wonderful restaurants in the area and the house book was really useful. The owners clearly love this house and it is very well maintained - not your usual holiday let.

Thank you so much for a blissful holiday.

I cried when we left....what an amazing home you have in an incredible place. We will definitely be back.....I think I've found where I'd like to retire to. Mogliano and the area around are just beautiful...what a discovery.

Beautiful, peaceful and fireflies to boot

  • 5 of 5

The whole experience of Casa Lucciola is incredible. Lying by the pool, surrounded by the most beautiful scenery around is very relaxing. If you want to be more adventurous there is the lake which is breathtaking and the beach which is great for people watching. My favourite thing is sitting in the little house after dinner with your mates, the candles lit and a glass of fizzy pop in hand (or rose frizzante as the locals call it).

Idyllic Italy

  • 5 of 5

A truly stunning property surrounded by breathtaking beauty, fields of sunflowers and real life Renaissance paintings everywhere you look!

The interior of Casa Lucciola is both stylish, comfortable, well equipped and has a very welcoming feel. As do the beautiful grounds where you can take yourself off for a swing in the hammocks beneath the fig trees, retreat to an exquisite little sun house or just lounge poolside admiring the ancient oaks and surrounding beauty.

There's lots to explore (if you can tear yourself away!) including the most breathtaking mineral lake "Lake Fiastra", a highlight for us and probably the best swim ever. Great beaches, plenty of historical treasures including the church neighbouring Casa Lucciola, fantastic family run trattorias and Mogliano's ice cream parlour was a regular haunt.

An authentic, relaxing, fun Italian holiday, we can't wait to return.

Best holiday

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful, the inside and outside is stunning. I instantly felt at home, everything I needed was there and there were no problems. I loved eating in the outside area, swinging on the hammocks at nighttime with fireflies. Lovedddd the pool too! My favourite place that we went was Lake Fiastra which is honestly incredible.

Casa Lucciola is on a flat farm road surrounded by fields with distant views of the Sibillini Mountains. It’s a five minute drive from the pretty town of Mogliano, near Macerata. Here you'll find plenty of charm, local shops, cafe bars, restaurants and a weekly market. The town offers great views of Le Marche best enjoyed with an ice cream from the local gelateria. The house is in a great location for exploring this beautiful part of central Italy. Some of our favourite things to see and do are:

The beaches and the view over the Adriatic from Monte Conero

Feasting on delicious seafood after a day at the beach at Porto San Giorgio

Swimming in crystal clear waters and hiring canoes in Lake Fiastra

Hiking, skiing or mountain biking in the Sibillini Mountains

Outdoor opera at Sferisterio, Macerata

Designer outlet shopping

Just wandering though the charming old towns

Visiting village festivals, vineyards and markets

Stunning architecture

Long lunches with great food and wine
