About this property

Beautiful, Peaceful Villa/Excellent Location/Wonderful Balinese Staff

Villa Laba Puseh is everything you could want in a holiday vacation home! The name, which means 'Land of Vishnu, The Preserver', is located on Temple Land in the quiet village of Penestanan, on the outskirts of Ubud, the cultural hub of Bali. This location is ideal, as you can enjoy both easy access to Ubud, (15 minute walk or $4 taxi ride) but return to your peaceful and quiet villa after your excursions.

Built with your enjoyment in mind, Laba Puseh was designed by blending the artistic talents that the Balinese are known for with the natural beauty of the outdoors. The villa is a visual feast for your eyes, as Balinese architectural details have been used throughout the entire property. These details include hand-carved wooden and stone window surrounds, gorgeous hand matted bamboo ceilings, and a coy pond you walk over to reach your front door. More than 1,000 man hours of stone-carved features are artfully placed throughout the property. At night the villa, garden and pool are beautifully lit for your continued pleasure.

The villa features two bedrooms with Balinese design four poster beds and furniture. Both bedrooms are fully air conditioned, but you may choose to enjoy the cooling natural breezes and overhead fans-the choice is yours. Each bedroom has its own bath, both showcasing beautiful, stone showers set in decorative, outdoor gardens.

In addition to being adorned with beautiful Balinese hand-carved furniture, the living room area also features a fully-equipped entertainment center for your enjoyment. Included for your entertainment pleasure are a flat screen TV with an android box providing Netflix and Prime and a DVD player with an array of both children and adult DVD selections. There is also a small library with a variety of books including various aspects of Balinese culture.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware and appliances, should you wish to prepare some of your own snacks or meals. The dining room features a marbled topped table, although you may choose to sit at the bar, which is adorned with hand-carved, stone features.

The true artistic feature of the property is the swimming pool which features an amazing hand-carved sandstone surround which is complimented by water spouting from a replica of a temple fountain head. Next to the pool is an outdoor shower where you can rinse off. Hand woven sun beds and colorful towels complete your pool experience.

Bali is known as the Island of the Gods, so it is important to me to both respect and participate in the local spiritual customs. My family Temple and Kemara are located on the property and daily offerings with beautiful hand made baskets, flowers and incense are performed throughout the property.

Centrally located in the village of Penestanan, Laba Puseh is set back from the main road and provides quiet and tranquiItiyt from the busy hustle and bustle of the Ubud area. It is a ten minute walk to a variety of restaurants including organic eateries and juice bars, coffee bars and bakeries, and the wonderful local Balinese warungs (restaurants) which abound everywhere and provide flavorful and economical dining. There are also a plethora of restaurants to explore in Ubud.

Your vacation villa has access to many other activities which you may find enjoyable. Laba Puseh is directly adjacent to the Star Child Spa, a full treatment spa center, where you can enjoy a relaxing massage, body scrub, flower petal bath, or a selection of half or full day combination packages. A variety of yoga studios and meditation centers are just a short stroll from your front door. There are some beautiful hiking trails nearby including the Camphuan Ridge and Sari Organic Trail. I highly recommend taking wonderful strolls on the beautiful footpaths and lanes that cris cross all over the village, where you will experience villagers going about their daily activities. Walks through the nearby rice fields are always a must also.

My Villa Managers are a lovely Balinese couple, Ketut and Made, and they along with your Villa Attendant, Komang, and your personal driver Juli, will take care of you just like family. Juli can provide transfers from the airport or can collect you from another location if you are already in Bali, for an appropriate fee. Juli is also available to take you on a variety of tours including the beautiful temples, amazing rice fields and gorgeous waterfalls. You can also tour the local villages in the Ubud area, all of whom specialize in their own handicrafts-you can find anything from wood and stone carvings, to art galleries and silver jewelry, or beadwork just to name a few.

Bali offers a wide variety of activities to choose from, including scuba diving ship wrecks, touring beautiful temples, soaking in hot springs, walking through rice fields, or strolling through museums and art galleries. Be as active as you want or just relax by the beautiful pool and read a book....your Balinese adventure awaits you!

Lovely little villa
Villa was clean and welcoming with beautiful Indonesian style furnishings and pool. Green, tropical courtyard area and amazing part outdoor bathrooms. Easily located near lots of cafes and warungs. We were looked after really well by Juli when we went on some day trips to surrounding sites. Thanks so much!

A lovely oasis only a short walk from the centre of Ubud
This is a lovely villa, tucked away just off the main street and hence very quiet and peaceful - especially compared to the crazy hustle and bustle of central Ubud ! The villa managers, Ketut and his wife Made looked after us very well and even organised a day out for us and taxis when we needed them. If you want to explore Ubud for a few days this would be a great villa to choose.

Officially moving to Bali!
This precious villa genuinely made me to look into how to permanently move to Bali. The peacefulness, relaxation, and walk renting made me fall in love with Ubud every morning. Everyone was so responsive on all platforms & they even surprised my boyfriend with a bouquet of flowers for his birthday! Juli was our driver - highly recommend! He is so kind & the best driver to have on the lawless roads! I will be back!

I live on the island of Antigua in the Eastern Caribbean and have been involved in tourism my entire life. After visiting Bali in 2012, I fell in love with the lush and gorgeous scenery on the Island of the Gods, but even more so with the gracious people and their customs and spiritual traditions. With my first visit to Bali, I felt in my heart that I had 'come home' and had found my place in the world where I could experience peace, tranquility and spirituality.

Why they chose this property

I chose Penestanan because of its tranquility, friendly people and small town atmosphere. My favorite part of going into the busy hustle and bustle of Ubud for shopping and dining is returning to peaceful Penestanan and the quietness of my villa afterwards.

My villa is directly adjacent to Star Child Spa, which is a favorite of mine for massages and other spa services. There are many great places to eat within a few minutes' walk of the front door, plus many of these restaurants will also deliver. Yoga and meditation classes at Intuitive Flow yoga studio are only a five minute walk from the villa.

What makes this property unique

My dear Balinese friend, Ketut Puja, built Villa Laba Puseh for me in the quiet village of Penestanan on Temple Land. I love Balinese architecture and artistry, and Ketut made sure that it was incorporated into every aspect of this villa. Everywhere you look, you see some building aspect that was designed and built artistically including hand carved wooden window surrounds and kitchen cabinet doors, or intricate, artistic air flows built into the walls.

Four different types of beautiful building stones were used in the construction process of my home. Three types of stone are from Bali, while the other was imported from Java. More than 1,000 man hours went into creating the stone-carved details that surround my villa. My favorite feature is more than four feet high and three feet wide. I can just stand and look at the stone work in amazement, marveling at the intricate hand-carved details designed by the skilled artisans who helped build my home. Everywhere you turn in Labah Puseh you see beauty.

Another fabulous feature of the villa is the pool, which features a beautiful, hand-carved sandstone surround, water gently cascading down a wall beneath it and water spouting from a replica of a temple fountain head.

Ketut, my friend and architect extraordinaire, also manages the villa for me. He is available for any type of day trip you could imagine or can take you on a chartered fishing trip!
