This is a wonderful apartment which is opposite the famous French Language School. We also recommend this apartment for the standard of presentation as it is designed as a home and not an impersonal rental property. The owner takes great pride in the accommodation she offers.

Beautifully maintained apartment and spotlessly clean and comfortable. I am fussy so was impressed. The location is lovely and peaceful as I have stayed in the heart of the village before and it can be noisy. I loved it and will be back.

Taste of heaven

My partner and I have just returned from a fantastic three week holiday, staying at Petit Tresor. This was our second stay in the apartment and on arrival it was just as perfect as we remembered it to be.

The views from the balcony are superb and the location is perfect. Walking distance to both local beaches and the wonderful restaurants and bars. The apartment was spotless and the owner had arranged for cleaning visits throughout the duration of our stay.

Contact in the run up and duration of our stay was brilliant and efficient and they were incredibly helpful in arranging taxis to and from the airport.

We have already enquired about returning next year!

Perfect apartment!

Had a brilliant holiday in this lovely apartment - the prefect base for exploring Villefranche. It's so sunny and well-appointed, with everything you need to feel at home. The bed is very comfortable, the bathroom and kitchen are beautifully fitted out, and Sue and Mattie provide some thoughtful touches - flowers on the table and a welcoming bottle of wine in the fridge. They are very helpful and pleasant to deal with, too. The apartment is in a great location, 10 minutes' walk from shops, bus stop, etc, though the last little stretch is fairly steep. The balcony is just as fantastic as the picture, if not more so. Highly recommended.

Big Misrepresentations in the Listing, Oven Broken

Beware, there are a number of misrepresentations about the apartment on the web site and in other materials used by the owner. First, on the web site in the paragraph under the map it clearly states that: “There is a parking space with this apartment.” We had rented a car and when we arrived the owner quite forcefully (bordering on rude) insisted that the apartment did not come with a parking space and that it had never been advertised as coming with a parking space. After arguing with her for a number of minutes, we let it pass. Later that day we were reviewing the materials that she left for us and right on top was her post card advertising the apartment. When describing the apartment, the post card said: “Also there is a private car space should you have a car.” So not only did the web site say that the apartment came with a parking space, the post card that the owner gave to us and that she uses to advertise the apartment states that the apartment comes with a parking space! We were never provided with the advertised parking space during our 5 week stay.

Also, under the “Facilities” portion of the web site it states that the apartment has a “Tumble Dryer.” This is not the case as there is no dryer in the apartment. When we asked about the dryer, we were shown a folding drying rack that could be used in the apartment or on the balcony. The owner also showed us some communal clothes lines where we could hang our clothes to dry.

I advised the booking agent and the owner about the parking spot and tumble dryer language on the website and in the post card. I only received a reply from the booking agent saying that she would look into it. I did not hear anything else from the owner or the booking agent and was never given an explanation as to why the listing and post card contained these misrepresentations.

Lastly, on the first day when the owner tried to show us how the oven worked, she discovered that it would not turn on. We were not concerned because we thought that we would not need the oven but she said that she would have someone come to fix the oven. No one ever came to fix the oven and it did not work for the entire 5 weeks that we were in the apartment.

The parking space and the tumble dryer were two of the main reasons why we selected this particular apartment. The oven not working just added insult to injury. Especially with the way the owner treated us when we arrived and argued with us about the parking space.

Owner's Response: Mattie and Sue are really saddened by Mr Park's review........ The old saying that once something is posted on the internet it is there for life is true! Mr Parks unfortunately found an old posting for the apartment which in the 1st year of renting did have the parking space available. However, the apartment was also more expensive. After the 1st year, Sue the owner found it impossible to find parking for her car in the old town where she was living. It was then decided to withdraw the availability of the parking space from the ad. This was 3 years ago and we have had no complaints up till now from our guests as there is ample parking available on the quiet residential road just outside the door. From what I understand, not knowing that Sue was the owner Mr Parks became insistent about the parking space and became quite angry and rude. She explained that she was the owner and that the apartment was not rented anymore with the parking space...... Unfortunately the other couple of issues mentioned seem to have added insult to injury and seems to have obscured all the wonderful aspects of this apartment which other reviewers have focussed on. The tumble drier was a box ticked by mistake in the original posting and was very quickly removed once this was realised. We are lucky enough to have such a good climate for most of the year in Villefranche and there is a line outside for hanging washing. We are both British and this is our preferred way of drying clothes even in the UK climate. The oven was not working which was caused by the departing guests during their stay. Sue didn't have time to call someone in before Mr Parks arrived that day but he made it clear that she need not worry on their part as they would definitely not be using the oven. As it happens the other guests had simply switched it off from the mains. We are really sorry that Mr Parks was so unhappy for the 8 days that he stayed in the Petit Tresor. Mrs Parks attended the Institut de Francais and whilst she was there for the month Mr Parks was in the US. His wife did not have a car during her stay. As I said I am really sorry that these issues distracted from the superb aspects of this apartment. The cleanliness and comfort, the stunning views, the close proximity to the Institute and the old town as well as easy access into Nice and Monaco and all the wonderful villages around and about etc......... Five Stars!

The pictures do not do the apartment justice. It is beautifully appointed, impeccable and provides everything one needs for a comfortable stay. I chose the apartment for its proximity to the Institut de Francais (it directly faces the school's garden entrance), but I was delighted to discover how convenient it is to shopping and transportation, and how quickly one could walk to the port. (I had attended the Institut last year, and was already familiar with the hill situation.) The balcony is the highlight. My boyfriend joined me for a week's visit after the school session and we especially enjoyed having drinks or dinner overlooking the Mediterranean and the Rade, with a great view of fireworks, too! We had one of the most enjoyable vacations of our lives. Merci, beaucoup, Sue!

Fantastic apartment and view

We stayed for one week and it was perfect. The location is 5 mins walk from town/beach and the market is in the little square at the bottom of the road. So is the main bus stop for Riviera and the tourist office. Apartment has everything you need, is smart, clean and has a view from the terrace which is better than the picture! Would definitely stay here again. Just note that the last 100 meters of the walk back is uphill!

Villefranche is situated 4km from Nice Centre and 7km from Nice International airport. A well kept secret as it retains it's charm due to lack of major hotels nearby. You can happily spend all your time in the Village discovering it's wonderful history and why artists such as Jean Cocteau and Sommerset Maughan loved this area so much. In the 60's the music of the Rolling Stones could be heard across the bay from their villa on Cap Ferrat. Yet the village still retains it's authentic feeling. Nice or Monaco are ten min. away or you can be in Italy (Ventimiglia) in 40 min. The village of Eze is 20 min. by car or St Paul de Vence, Cannes and Antibes about 40 min. A car is not essential and the walks here are fabulous. This is the best location on this fabulous coast by far. The French language Institute, Institut Francais, is a few minutes walk away.

For longer bookings of three weeks or more there may be a higher 'housekeeping' fee.

Included in your booking and 'housekeeping charge' are utilities and linens (cotton sheets, allergy free pillows-), towels, beach towels, kitchen towels. We also leave basic supplies as per a 'self catering unit' (toilet paper, salt and pepper etc) so you don't have to immediately run out and shop when you arrive. There is secure wireless DSL that enables you to connect within minutes of your arrival, should you need to.

You can also arrange for extra cleaning which can be arranged and paid directly to the housekeeper.

Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. Note: We can occasionally offer five night breaks out of season.
