Lake Viñuela is one of Andalucia’s best kept secrets and is unspoilt by tourism. The Lake is a reservoir and is also used for sailing, wind-surfing and fishing. There are no motorised boats allowed thus ensuring undisturbed tranquility.

All around the property are paths leading to glorious walks through unspoilt countryside. On the opposite side of the lake is the National Park which is widely used by walkers and ramblers and is renowned as being the best walking area in Spain.

The nearest beach resort is the typically Spanish resort of Torre de Mar just over 20 mins away. A wide promenade runs alongside its sandy beaches to the marina at Caleta. There are many beaches to enjoy along the coastal walk with countless beach huts 'chiringuitos' serving paella and fresh fish lunches.

Nearby is a fabulous shopping complex, El Ingenio with a hypermarket where you can buy all your groceries and holiday treats ! Torre del Mar and Velez Malaga both have numerous shops, restaurants and tapas bars to explore and enjoy. Nearby is a large water park and a go-karting track. The busier resorts of Marbella and Fuengirola are just over an hour away.

All around the property are paths leading to glorious walks through unspoilt countryside. On the opposite side of the lake is the National Park which is widely used by walkers and ramblers and is renowned as being the best walking area in Spain. The white-washed mountain villages (pueblos) are well worth a visit and where you can discover the real Andalucía. Take time to look into the dates of the local “ferias” or festivals, in the surrounding villages as these are a perfect way to experience the local culture.

You may choose to explore inland to Granada with its fabulous architecture and gardens. Antequera, a busy market town of Roman origin with its historic bullring, a 13th century castle and a wealth of history is also worth a visit. Nerja on the coast is a lovely old town where you can take a horse-drawn taxi to the famous Balcon de Europa overlooking the sea. Nearby Maro with its spectacular caves and summer concerts is also not to be missed.

Perfect holiday for the family

  • 5 of 5

My family and I recently had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays ever at this villa. The villa and the grounds around it are beautiful and immaculately maintained. Having a private pool is a real bonus and the views across the lake to the mountains are amazing. Booking the place was a breeze with lots of good communication from Steve the owner and once there Carol who looks after the place was very helpful - there is even a welcome pack waiting in the fridge full of good quality food and wine. We had 3 adults and 1 child so there was plenty of space but it will easily hold many more. There are so many sitting areas you could sit at a different table every night for a meal. The pool (table) area is like having a separate private bar and the BBQ area is great. It is around 40 min in car from the airport (beware of very long queues for all the hire car companies). There isn't a lot going on in the area but we found a few nice restaurants and bars locally - but you will need to drive everywhere. Overall the villa is huge and really well maintained, there is loads to do (pool, cinema room, pool table, BBQ, English TV, table tennis, pool inflatables). The location is good if you just want to relax and the weather is always good down there (October we had 30+ temps!). Enjoy.

A beautiful house in a stunning location, we were extremely pleased with our choice when we reached the villa. The welcome pack was a very nice thought and well received. We thoroughly enjoyed the table tennis, the swimming pool, the cinema room and the library. We only left the villa once during our stay, to stock up on supplies!

We will certainly return, and although we have rented fantastic villas in this area, they don't come close to this villa. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Spent 2 idyllic weeks at this property in July/August 2013. The property has a rural location although there are other properties in the vicinity so there is not a feeling of being too isolated although a car is to be recommended.

The villa itself is to a very high standard - so much space inside which was certainly appreciated with 3 young children (aged 8,4,1). The kitchen is very well equipped and the cinema room was very useful to hide from the midday sun, great sound! There was a welcome pack in the villa on our arrival which is a very nice touch and much appreciated. There is also a great book selection to keep you busy and games for all.

The pool has a good depth and provided many hours of entertainment - we took up the offer of a paddling pool for our 1 year old which was very handy. There are many seating areas outside which we were able to use and certainly the views of the Lake from the villa are superb. The pool table was also used - although mostly in the evening when it was cooler and the table tennis was good fun - a great range of facilities for all.

We headed out to the local towns a few times and ate out - certainly many places to visit within an hour range and the local market and beach were worth visiting.

If you want a quiet retreat and indulge yourself in a high spec villa, then this could very well be for you. Can't fault the customer service of either the house keeper or the owner - nothing too much trouble.

Thank you very much!!

Everything you could wish for.

  • 5 of 5

A wonderfully equipped villa in a stunning location. The table tennis and pool table were hugely popular and we enjoyed many mini tournaments. The pool was much used by all and the wii and cinema room were another added bonus. With all the available activities our 9yr old was in seventh heaven. The only time we left the villa was to stock up on wine and food !

The welcome hamper was a lovely touch - so nice to arrive and find cold beer and wine in the fridge. The villa is looked after by a lovely couple who you only have to mention something to and they sort it. When we arrived there were a few wine glasses but all the rest were made of plastic, you can't drink beer out of a plastic cup! No sooner did we mention it and Carol rocked up with a bag full of wine and glass tumblers. This villa is owned and run by people who really want you to have a first class holiday and will do all they can to give you a wonderful holiday experience.

For the last 15 years or so we have rented a different villa in Europe and this one surpasses them all. It really has everything you could wish for a relaxing family holiday. We will be returning.

Lovely Hazienda near Torre del Mar

  • 5 of 5

The description of the villa is very well. There is nothing what we were missing. The property was very clean and in a perfect condition. The owner was very friendly and supporting in all our numerous questions.

We loved very much the facilities. Especially the pool billiard, table tennis and of course the swimming pool. Annoying were only the bugs (wasps and other very little (not dangerous) animals).

It's worth knowing that there is no restaurant or shop which is in the near. So, a car is needed. But the big advantage is, that you have absolutly no rush in your holiday. Very calm and recovering. Simply great. And for food, dining or some entertainment the hired car will bring you below 30 minutes to the next town. In the villa are some hints for great locations and maps provided.

Really good benefit for the money...

Perfect beyond belief!

  • 5 of 5

A superb family holiday, in a breathtaking location with stunning views over Lake Vinuela!

We often spent a relaxing evening just sat listening to the sound of complete silence - what a luxury that is in a world that is consumed with pace and noise!

The villa had everything we could need and kept a family of four (2 adults, 17 and 12 year old) enteratined with table tennis and pool tournaments, and using the cinema room to take a break from the heat of the afternoon sun.

We have holidayed in villas for at least ten years and this has to be, by far, the best yet.

We have come back to work totally relaxed and would tell anyone thinking about booking it to "just do it - you will not be disappointed!"

Worth every penny!
