3 bedroom family house with an extra day room and sunny private terrace

This village house has been beautifully restored throughout to offer very high standard accommodation, elegant and comfortable, perfect for a family holiday. The property comprises downstairs of a very large open space living area with a lovely fireplace, a 3 seater sofa, 2 armchairs and satellite TV (UK Freeview), with a fully fitted modern kitchen/dining area sitting 8 comfortably and a direct access to a sunny and private terrace with outdoor furniture. 2 double bedrooms upstairs elegantly furnished, as well as a bedroom with bunk beds. A very large master bathroom with free standing antique bath, large shower and a toilet, and a separate toilet next door. There is a further very large day room with its own bathroom and toilet, a comfortable convertible sofa-bed, another sofa and a day bed. There is another access via an external staircase to the terrace. The house has wifi internet access plus an iPod docking station. The local small shop is just a minute walk away.

About Neil Evans

Neil is English and Veronique is French and we live in East London, although as you can guess neither of us grew up in London. Both of us grew up in more rural surroundings hence why we love Paraza and the surrounding area.

We have three young children, our eldest daughter is four and the twins are two - so as you imagine we have a busy household, never a dull [or quiet] moment! With the twins being as young as they are we don't get to Paraza as often as we would like, the drive down for them from London would be too long and painful - hopefully in the coming years we'll be spending more time there.

The house underwent a gradual period of restoration and renovation, the main part of the house was renovated in 2004 - 2005, the barn attached to the house [the day room] was more recently renovated in 2010 .

Each year we try to do a little bit more to the house, last year we finally had the old metal sliding garage doors removed which exposed the original stone work of the arch hidden behind the doors, and now have some lovely wooden doors in place.

For us, our perspective of the house changed with the arrival our children - a strange thing to say perhaps, but it felt like the house has grown to meet our needs more; the children giving the house a sense of purpose. So it really is a family for house us, that we use as often as we can, and look forward to using more in the future.

We hope anyone staying in Paraza enjoys it as much as we do, but we also value any feed back [good or bad] for future improvements.

A wonderful 2 weeks

This is our second visit to Paraza house and we again thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks stay.

The house had more than enough room for our 3 boys and most evenings were spent on the wonderful terrace. When not out eating in the nearby restaurants we made use of the fully equipped kitchen.

Our days were spent exploring the local attractions which included caves, castles and museums.

The beach at Gruissan was easily accessible (25 minutes) where you can actually drive onto the beach and park.

Fantastic village house, friendly village , very spacious and quirky.

We had a fabulous time at Paraza, the house was fantastic, clean and tidy. Right in the centre of the village. The people were so friendly. I can not praise the lady the looks after the house enough, she is local, provided tips of where to go, advice and.

She Checked we were all ok and super friendly. The house is huge Inside with loads of sitting places and large bedrooms and bathrooms. All main amenities are a 10 mins drive away. The village does have one shop/cafe and their is one super restaurant near the canal, where there are lovely walks too. It is only 45 mins from Carcassonne and the airport, with the cite a must. 30 mins from the beach too. The village is very unusual and has a super historical. Feel to it.wd would recommend visiting Gruissan, colleuire and Narbonne. Car is essential to make the most of the area. 5 Stars from us...

A wonderful characteristic house in an ideal picturesque location overlooking the Canal du Midi.

The beautifully renovated house had plenty of space for our 3 young boys. The house was very well furnished which enhanced the character of the property. Plenty to see and do in the immediate area with easy access by car. The beaches at Gruissan and Narbonne were no more than 30 minutes drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to return. A wonderful 2 weeks in a lovely house in a picturesque village.

Beautifully rustic house in a peaceful village

A lovely house in a quiet village that is perfect for exploring the region. Very clean on arrival and a contact for someone to help us with the images being reflective of the property.

Plenty of walks nearby and a Winery at the top of the village that is worth a visit for some tasting. Bicycle hire next door (Melo Velo) for a great day out and half an hour to some fine beaches by car. You have to do your research before you go to find out what to do but there was plenty for us to keep us busy.

Carcosonne, Coulloire and Minerve are all accessible and worth a visit. Lovely place, quiet village and perfectly located.

Wonderful property in peaceful location

We (two adults, one teen, one younger child) visited Paraza House out of season, for a quiet getaway, and it was perfect!

Most local businesses are closed at this time of year, but we stocked up at the supermarche in Narbonne, and sampled a variety of local food and wine from some of the local shops that were still open. There are regular deliveries from various food vendors to the village centre.

The house is well equipped for self-catering. Dining area and kitchen/breakfast bar all open plan and great for relaxed at-home dining.

The "day room" upstairs is a fantastic space for chilling out - big enough for parents to chill with a glass of wine, our eldest to have a "stuido" for her art homework, and still plenty of room for youngest to play.

Cycle-hire from the local shop was easy, and cycling around the local villages in t-shirts we quite forgot it was November!

We can't wait to go back in the summer to make use of the sun terrace.

The Perfect Getaway!!

A short trip from London to Paraza is the perfect getaway to switch off and unwind!!

The village is stunning and at times you feel like you have stepped into another era! The villa in Paraza has been beautifully renovated. It is very clean and well maintained. The deck was wonderful space to sit in the sun, sip wine, eat cheese and read a good book.

The restaurants in the area were fantastic and what we loved is that by car the beach or winery's were not too far away. A wonderful spot to base yourself so you can experience such a beautiful part of France.

Perfect for couples, friends, families.... anyone who wants to relax and have a comfortable uncomplicated break from the daily grind!

Paraza is a small wine making village in the Minervois, on the bank of the beautiful Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is ideal for exploring this historic and beautiful part of France amongst the vineyards of the Languedoc Roussillon region. A cycle ride or even a boat trip along the banks of the Canal du Midi will make for an extremely enjoyable time. Further afield sight seeing in this region of Cathar castles steeped in history never fails to impress visitors, the medieval walled city of Carcassonne is perhaps the best known local example. There are safe and sandy beaches 30 minutes drive away not to mention the wonderful towns of Narbonne and Perpignan
