Beautiful Home with pool in Velez de Benaudalla (near Salobrena)

Overview

Property

Updated: 18-Sep-2016
Luxuriously refurbished traditional town hous in whitewashed village, sleeps 4-6

Beautiful and luxurious traditional town house with courtyard, roof terraces and own pool in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Situated in the ‘Arab quarter’ of a small, historic & very Spanish Andalucían whitewashed town with all facilities, 15 minutes from the beach & just over 1 hour to the ski slopes. 40 minutes drive to Granada, & just over 1 hour to Malaga. Beautifully refurbished by a professional designer using high end fittings and finishes throughout it has two bedrooms (1 with dressing room), 2 bathrooms, 3 reception rooms and sleeps 4 - 6. Spacious self contained total relaxation and extremely central for all the local attractions (including the town’s historic Arabic local church, castle and Nazrene Gardens).

Please note: we accept credit card bookings through paypal.

Please note that we are considering whether to sell our house at the end of 2016 and as such we can't accept any bookings for 2017 yet. We'll be making our final decision about letting the house for 2017 by January 1st, and will release the dates then if we decide to keep renting. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Owner's Response: This guest was unfortunately the most difficult one we've ever had, and she evidently has left a poor review to pre-empt any comments about her from us I imagine. She did not arrive when planned, and left our housekeeper waiting until 11.30pm despite me sending emails, texts and phone messages when she didn't arrive as planned at 7pm. She finally left a message to say she had forgotten to tell us she wasn't coming until the next day, when she also arrived late. There is no 'closet' on the ground floor that is unusable - only a housekeeping cupboard that is not available to guests. And there is an entire dressing room on the first floor for clothes storage as well as a perfectly good wardrobe in the downstairs bedroom. We have (as seen in other reviews) often received comments regarding how well equipped the kitchen is, and there is a drawer full of towels for dishes that she obviously bother to look in (which is probably also why she didn't find all of the required crockery and utensils we provide for cooking and entertaining - they're in drawers and cupboards!) We clearly stated in our advertisments that there is no BBQ and the aircon in the bedroom was fitted by a specialist company as a 'quite' bedroom quality aircon unit. Also, the main bathroom has travertine tiles wall and travertine mosaic borders, two artisan made basins with designer mixer taps, a double size built in shower area with travertine mosaic floor to ceiling and an extra large 'Hansgrohe Raindance Air' ceiling mounted showerhead and a matching wall mounted/hand held showerhead. It also has matching designer wall suspended wc and bidet and a mirror the length of the wall over the basins. All our towels are 500gsm Egyptian Cotton. None of our guests have ever referred to the bathroom or the house as 'functional' before - and I suggest that anyone interested look at the other reviews we have for an accurate picture of what we offer!!!!

Excellent

A beautiful home. A very tranquil and peaceful village in the Sierra Navada Mountains. just what we needed to relax and rewind our batteries. A very close knit community and very friendly. We felt very welcomed by the locals at the Festival the first weekend we were there.

The home had everything we needed and the pool was great.

Carol was very helpful and easily contactable for any problems.

We would recommend a table to sit and eat outside. It was very hot indoors and there was no air conditioning anywhere except the bedrooms. The dining area is a beautiful little space, very romantic and cosy, but was very hot and a little chlostraphobic as there are no windows in this space.

Wonderful house in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We have just had an amazing week in this very special house. We wanted somewhere we could get away from it all and relax in the sun. The house was well equipped with comfy beds, a great pool and relaxing courtyard with corner sofa where we sat in the evening with a glass of vino. The village has everything you need but quite quiet in the evening which was not a problem. We went to Le Cabria beach a number of times which had a couple of excellent restaurants and sunbeds to hire. It was a 15 minute drive through stunning scenery. All in all we were really thrilled to have found the house and would certainly come back. Carole, the owner was really helpful and resonsive. Thank you for a brilliant stay!

Super Holiday house

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in this beautiful holiday house. It's located in the middle of a nice small town with lots of delicious tapa places and close (50m) to a little supermarket that has everything you need.

Great location near Granada (Culture), Sierra Nevada (beautiful walks) and the sea (relax) :-)

The house was fully equiped and the beatiful swimming pool made it complete.

Beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

Amargura 11 is a great place to stay for a relaxing time in Spain. The house is really well equipped and has been beautifully renovated with care and attention to detail. Importantly, the beds are very comfortable!

The house stays pretty cool even in high summer and air conditioning is available if needed. The pool is also very welcome on a hot afternoon!

Velez de Benaudalla is a quiet village with a few bars and cafes and you'll often get a plate of tapas with your drinks. It's an easy 20 minute drive to the coast and only around 40 minutes or so on the motorway to Granada, making it an ideal base for sightseeing.

The owners are extremely helpful and are happy to answer any questions about the house, the village and the surrounding area. It's definitely a good place to stay if you want to be away from the busy coast but within easy reach of beaches, towns and other attractions.

Nearest Airport : Granada at 40 Miles Nearest Golf : Los Moriscos, Motril at 10 Miles Nearest Train : Granada at 33 Miles Nearest Motorway : A44/E902 at 2 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Just outside the village at 1 Miles Nearest Ski : Sierra Nevada at 50 Miles Nearest Beach : Salobrena at 12 Miles

Nestled in the fertile valley of the Guadalfeo river, the picturesque white washed village of Velez de Benaudalla is located only a short drive from the popular Costa Tropical coastal towns of Salobrena (15 mins) and Almunecar (25 mins), and 40 minutes drive, through the Lecrin Valley, to Granada and the snow covered Sierra Nevada mountains and ski resort beyond.

Brimming with the remains of its moorish past, it also has an interesting mix of old and new Spain, and is able to offer a good selection of modern facilities whilst keeping its traditional roots. The historic remains include the Arabic fortress and the Church of the Rosario, as well as the Nazari Gardens - the finest example of its type outside the Alhambra in nearby Granada. The town is also host to a variety of shops including mini-markets, bakers and a pharmacy as well as some excellent local tapas bars, where the Andalucian tradition continues of offering free tapas (snacks) with every drink. Within the last year with the reopening of the newly refurbished Nazari Gardens, the village now has a beautiful restaurant overlooking the gardens so you can eat and admire the view!

Notes:

  • Please note that we have aircon in the main reception room and the main bedroom only - the second bedroom just has an extra quiet ceiling fan and a large window (and french doors) that can be left open for ventilation. This is usually sufficiently cool for sleeping but if necessary guests can bring the extra large floor fan in or can use the sofabed in the (aircon) reception room as a 2nd bedroom. Children: over 10's or babies only (property not suitable for young (mobile) children due to safety reasons - the pool is not fenced in and there are a lot of tiled (hard!) stairs). We do however welcome babies and we provide a cot and high chair if required. Please note we are not able to take bookings starting any other day but Saturday during high season as we are usually fully booked through July and August so we have to fix one changeover day or we lose a lot of days that would otherwise be booked (between different start days).
