About the property

Large villa with private heated pool and spacious grounds ideal for large groups

This private detached villa with 8 double/twin spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, offers generous living areas and grounds, ideal for large groups and families. On the lower level is a large private pool (which can be heated), surrounded by an extended sun terrace and mature gardens, with fig, mango, guava, pomegranate, orange and lemon trees. Also situated on this level are four of the 8 bedrooms and the large recreation room with games table and extra fridge's and freezer. On the upper level is the main house with four further bedrooms set over 3 floors. There is large open plan living area. A spacious lounge with freeview TV, fully equipped modern kitchen, and both indoor and outdoor dining areas. Two bedrooms are joined to form an individual suite, with a large bathroom and private terrace. The villa is in a peaceful elevated location, with fantastic sea and mountain views. Just outside the resort town of Torre del Mar, only 5 minutes from the beach and 45 minutes from Malaga.

We have an extensive knowledge of this area having lived and worked here for many years. In our opinion the best supermarket is 'Mercadona' situated just on entering the town of Torre del mar. The nearest bars and restaurants are in the town as well or there is a typical Spanish bar/restaurant in Almayate (next village) called 'Pepe Molina's'. Here you can often see the local bulls been shooed (yes they still use bulls to work the fields). There are numerous banks in Torre but they are only open Monday to Friday from 8.30am till 2pm. There are plenty of cash points doted around the town. We can inform you of many leisure activities and sports and inside the villa is a booklet of information. There is a water park only 10 min drive away but we recommend the water park in Torromelinos due to it's size and facilities. We are always happy to recommend places. The Alhambra palace (home of Henry VIII's first wife) is around 1 hrs drive away but you do have to book tickets well in advance.

The beach is only 5 min drive from the villa. The beach is located in Torre del Mar which boast the longest promenade in Malaga. There are many beach bars and restaurants and the town is very typically Spanish. The beaches are clean and you will find free sports and exercise equipment to use and also ping pong tables, volley ball courts and children's play area's. There is plenty of parking in and around the beach area. There is also a small marina at the far end of the town called Caleta.

There are 2 golf course's within 20 min drive. The first is Baviera which is less than 10 min drive from the villa and is a well maintained 18 hole golf course. The second is Anoreta which is 20 min drive from the villa and again is a well maintained golf course having amazing views of the mountains and sea.

The main town of Torre del Mar is just 5 min in a car and not only has the beach but also all the shops, supermarkets restaurants and night life. Nerja is just 30 min drive east of the vi

Sol y Nieve is in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, just 90 min drive from the villa. This ski resort successfully hosted the 1996 World Ski Championships. The Sierra Nevadas can offer a long season, from early December through to early May, and with snow cannons covering 32km of piste, you are almost guaranteed good snow. With 87km of piste: 11 green, 36 blue, 35 red and 5 black runs, served by a good network of 24 lifts with a current capacity of nearly 48,000 passengers /hr, there should be enough to keep intermediates happy for a few days.

There is also plenty to do off the slopes. In the small resort town of Pradollano, non-skiers can perfect their spins on the ice rink or relax in the Turkish steam bath at the Montebajo Sports Club. On a fine day, take the lift onto the mountain and relax on the sunny terrace of one of the many restaurants, while admiring the spectacular views that stretch across the Mediterranean to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.

About Suzanne Dave

We have lived here in Spain for 12 years and have 2 son's. We lived in the villa for 8 of those years. My husband is a chemical engineer and I myself was a pharmaceutical sale representative. We were originally from Cheshire.

Why Suzanne Dave chose Vélez-Málaga

We brought the villa due to its size and layout. We ran taylor made activity holidays for groups and families and speacialized in mountain bike holidays. I myself not only took part in the activities but cooked breakfast, supplied packed lunches and cooked a 3 course evening meal every night. Just as the business was taking off I fell pregnant with my 2nd son so due to me being the backbone of the business I was no longer able to mange this. We decided to try holiday rentals for the property as it was to large for just a family of 4 to live in. We have made so many improvements over the years to try to make the villa just what holiday makers wish for when they are away. We have totally modernized the villa but without it losing its charm.

What makes this villa unique

The location of the villa is in a quiet estate just outside the main town of Torre del Mar so allows groups and families peace and quiet but also having the town in easy reach for when you wish to eat out or enjoy the night life. The way the villa is set out means that the guests always have somwhere to escape if they want some "me time". There is always enough space around the tables for ALL guests. The views are wonderful from the garden and terraces. The pool is a fantastic size for a private pool. The property is not overlooked by anyone so allowing you real privacy.

Verified by TripAdvisor - We have had an absolutely great time at the villa.

Upon arrival I was happy to see that the property even exceeded the impression we got in advance.

We stayed there with 2 sets of grandparents, 2 sets of parents and 5 kids, and still we found the villa spacious enough for us - making it possible to play ping-pong on one of the terraces while others could chill by the pool reading a good book without being disturbed.

The property is well maintained, and with all its facilities it is easy to have a really good time:) We liked in particular the pool side facilities with the pool house and the well maintained garden. If someting not optimal should be mentioned, the kitchen is a bit small as it is today to socialize while preparing food, there are not room for more than two people at a time.

We rented cars all of us during our stay to have easy access to the beach and the town. We loved the town and the beach promenade, as it had many activities going on for the kids in the evenings, cinemas at the each, small tivoli by the tower, and lots of playgrounds.

The owners of the villa has been very professional and easy to communicate with all the time. We recommend the villa and we look forward to coming back here sometime.

The main town of Torre del Mar is just 5 min in a car and not only has the beach but also all the shops, supermarkets restaurants and night life. Nerja is just 30 min drive east of the villa with the famous caves to look around and also many more beaches. Granada is just over 1 hr drive away with the Alhambra palace and famous tapas bars. Malaga city is just 30 min drive West and is a very historic city with a huge variety of shops and restaurants.

The villa is just 45 min / 30km east of Malaga Airport, just off the main coast road. Car hire is highly recommended due to the location of the villa on a small hill and access to the town, otherwise taxis can be used and most of them do speak English. There is a large taxi rank in the centre of the town.

  • There are 8 bedrooms in total. 6 of the rooms have there own en-suites. Bedroom 7 and 8 are a family suite and share a large bathroom with double sink and bath. The bedrooms are placed in groups of 2's. There are 4 bedrooms on the pool level and another 4 bedrooms in the main villa. All the bedrooms have air-conditioning/heating. Bedrooms 1-6 can be either double or twin rooms, room 7 is a double and room 8 a twin. There is a stair gate at the top of bedroom 8 if you have younger children in there. There are 3 travel cots available for you free of charge which will fit in all 8 bedrooms. Bedroom 1,2 & 6 can also have another single bed added.

Notes:
The outside consists of mature gardens with numerous fruit trees and tropical flowers and plants. There is a covered patio area outside the villa for alfresco dinning with a marble table and chairs, also a very large sun terrace with a table and chairs. Downstairs there is a large patio which surrounds the swimming pool, which has many sun loungers. There is also a large built in barbecue. The pool is a large kidney shape (size), so all guests can enter together. The pool can be heated at your request and incurs an extra charge of £150 per week. This villa is situated in a very quiet area with views of both the mountains and the beach. It has high walls surrounding it with only one keypad access gate (code changed weekly) which makes it very safe for children. Not been over looked by any other villa's and with plenty of parking on the road outside which is only used by a handful of people, makes it the perfect place to stay and relax.

Perfect place for a family vacation

We really enjoyed our stay at the villa. There is plenty of space for a large group and a lot of activities to do. It is perfectly equipped for young kids with cots and high chairs. The swimming pool is not protected, which made me afraid at first, but the main villa is at a different level than the swimming pool, so it was really easy to keep an eye on our toddler. The villa is well located, close to beautiful towns such as Nerja, Frigiliana or Granada.

We would definitely recommend the place !

wonderful place for adults and kids

We spent a wonderful week at this huge and beautiful villa with enough space for 16 people (8 adults and 8 children between 9 and 14 years).

We had a warm welcome by our host Suzanne who showed and explained us everything, who gave us tips and was very helpful.

The house was very clean and was well equiped. Everyone, especially the children, loved the huge pool and since we had it heated they spent hours in it.

We took most meals outside on the terrace and enjoyed the nice view around us. The beautiful and well kept garden was illuminated in the evening and the children took late night swims in the also illuminated pool.

Although the villa is located quietly in the mountains it is only a few minutes to the beach and to the town with opportunities to shop.

We can definitely recommend this place!

Stunning spot for some relaxation

Absolutely love this place. The villa has beautiful gardens and amazing scenery. The fact that the villa and additional rooms around the pool are across 2 levels means there are loads of areas for those times when you need a bit of space from the rest of the group. The owner Su and her team are so helpful and welcoming and have plenty of suggestions and ideas for things to do in the area (we had a chef come and make a paella for the group at the villa which was delicious). I have had 2 holidays here and will definitely be going back!

September Sunshine

We LOVED our stay at the villa, it was perfect. Our party comprised of 3 young families and grandparents, we found the layout perfect for this as it meant if one of the babies was having a bad night then everyone else wasn't woken up. Su was great in the run up to the holiday and whilst we were there, always available to answer any questions. The villa is only 35 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes into the town where there are plenty of cafe's to choose from. We would definitely recommend and return. There was also plenty of kitchen equipment, plates, tapas dishes, one night we had a 4 course meal for 9 and had enough plates for everyone. The only one downer that we found was with that many people and 3 babies in nappies the bin was very small so we ended up with bin bags hanging everywhere, this was a very simple fix though we just grabbed a larger bin at the super market :). Thanks again for a lovely stay.

Beautiful property with lots of space but could do with some tlc

We were 2 families with young children and partners, 17 in all, it is ideal for large families. We arrived in scorching hot weather and it would have been nice to have had a few bottles of cold water in the fridge as we had to drive 2 miles to the supermarket after a long journey.

It is a beautiful villa, but it Is quite basic, we found the beds quite hard and we had a few plumbing issues. However it has great air conditioning and is only 2 miles from a lovely town with great eating places and lovely beaches, which we all enjoyed.
