Light airy superb duplex, sleeping six, two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms

This well appointed recently refurbished apartment has all one would desire for a visit to one of the world's most interesting capitals. The spacious open plan living room, dining /kitchen area on the third floor, overlooks the leafy Westbourne Terrace, with wifi internet, telephone for local calls and satellite TV. The kitchen is well equipped with oven, microwave/oven, warming drawer, fridge freezer, mini wine fridge. The apartment sleeps six, a duplex with a spiral staircase taking you up to spend a quiet nights sleep before embarking on the tourist trail. The main bedroom has a queen double bed with an ensuite bathroom with bath and shower. The second bedroom has two single beds. This also has an ensuite bathroom with shower. Adjacent to this bathroom are the utilities of washing machine and dryer. The large sofa bed in the living room, sleeps two people comfortably, with the added convenience of another wc and hand basin on this floor.

How to get around: The apartment is extremely close to Paddington Station, and the Heathrow express ., it is also situated between two tube stations - Lancaster Gate and Paddington, both only two minutes walk away. Numerous buses can take you to various places in London. A good idea is to hop onto a red double decker tourist bus which that will take you to all the major sites, so you have a good idea of the city. These are hop on and off buses. If you would prefer to cycle, one of the cycle stations is just by Lancaster Gate tube station, great for cycling across the park - the first 30 minutes are free.

Activities: If you like to jog first thing in the morning - then this is the ideal apartment for you. Hyde Park is 100 metres walk away. After jogging, you can then stop for a break at the Italian Gardens Cafe, which opens at 7.30 in the morning, great start to the day. The park offers a huge range of activities from boating on the Serpentine (also swimming in the summer months) to horse riding, tennis, cycling, roller blading and skateboarding. As well as two amazing art galleries.

if you consider shopping an activity then you have all you require nearby a short bus ride away - Oxford Street with all its shops including Selfridges, and Regent Street with Hamleys toy store . Or across the Park to Knightsbridge and Harrods.

Antiques maybe of interest -Portobello road is not far away - which has one of the world's largest antique street markets.

For food shopping the easiest remedy if you are going to cook during your stay is to stop off at Waitrose Supermarket, about ten minutes walk on the Edgware Road you will find everything you need. They deliver as well which is a plus when carrying heavy bottles up the stairs!

Nicely Appointed - Great for Family with Teens

We arrived after a week of quickpaced travel so were relieved to have a place to settle into for a week. Neighborhood is nice - yes there is light traffic but we heard no noise with the windows open. Please know that this property is at the top floor and is a walk up. I think it was 77 steps - no problem for the teens but after a full day of walking it was a long way up for mom & dad :) If you are elderly or have mobility issues or babies this may not be the flat for you.

As you walk in there is a beautiful modern kitchen /powder room/ living area and large dining table which we used most evenings. Up the Spiral stair case are two Double bedrooms and each has a modern bathroom. Laundry is upstairs in one of the bathrooms. This suited us as my husband & I used one BR, My teen daughter used the other and my teen son luxuriated in the living room on the sofa with TV access by choice.

Kitchen was well equipped and had most of what was needed (basic spices, some tea/sugar). Sky TV worked well as did the wifi internet. We unfortunately happened to be there during a major heat wave and survived the 90+ degree heat with just windows open. A suggestion to the property owner would be to keep a fan on the premises just in case of those heat waves in the summer because it did verge on too hot in the bedroom areas.

Location-wise it is between the Lancaster Gate Central Line Stop & the Paddington Station stop (each about a 3 min walk) with a lot of different lines available. There is an AWESOME Waitrose full sized supermarket an easy 10-12 minute walk which we used to stock up on groceries & wine for the week. We would often picnic in Hyde Park for dinner which was a 5 min walk. All in we enjoyed our stay here and found it to be safe, comfortable, well located & a good value.

Nice apartment on a quiet street

T his is a very nice apartment within walking distance of Paddington Station so coming from Heathrow is a breeze and there's no need for a taxi once your arrive at Paddington. It's a two bedroom with a bathroom in each room and a washer/dryer as well. Very modern kitchen with a very comfortable living room with loads of books to read during your visit. The apartment is on a quiet street with large trees so the view from the apartment is the tree tops which was quite beautiful and private. The only negative is that the apartment is on the 4th floor so it's a workout to get there but for the price, it was well worth the effort of climbing the stairs. The host was very accommodating and we had no issues whatsoever during our week long visit. We'd definitely stay again -

Great flat near Hyde Park

My wife and I stayed in this great flat with our two children aged 13 and 16. The apartment was on a pretty street in a great location 5 minutes from Paddington and 5 minutes from the Lancaster Gate subway and Hyde Park. Lots of good restaurants close by (Spice of India, Ask) and a Tesco about 10 minutes walk. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. WIFI was excellent. There are many stairs, but it was nice to be on the top floor. Communication with owner was very good. We would definitely stay again!

Darling apartment north of Hyde Park

We stayed here with our 17 and 20 year old children and really loved the apartment. Janet was great to deal with during the whole booking process and promptly answered all our questions. The apartment is conveniently located near Paddington Station and the central line tube to get everywhere. There are also grocery and restaurants minutes away in the nearby area. The stairs aren't for the faint at heart but easy to navigate. The apartment was clean, roomy and worked out great for our family of 4. We would stay here again and feel secure in booking this apartment from Janet. Following our stay she promptly returned our deposit too. Highly recommend this apartment.

Stayed for a week in June and everything about our experience was great. A couple of minutes to Paddington, same to Lancaster Gate or catching a bus on Bayswater Road, the location was great. Kids thought the spiral staircase was cool, and the adults navigated it well. Would stay there again.

Great location and space, ok sleep and upkeep

I wish I could give this property 2 separate ratings- a 5 for location and some amenities but hardly a 3 for sleeping and maintainence, so a 4 it is.

First the great stuff- The location- close walking distance to both Paddington Station and Lancaster gate tube stop for ease of travel around London and ease to/ from Heathrow. It is a busy area but we still had no issues with traffic noise. A others mention it is on the fourth floor with some steep stairs near the end and the spiral staircase inside, so be prepared.

The amenities- if all working properly, the apartment offers great amenities for a longer stay- the kitchen is relatively new with large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, wine fridge,plenty of cookware and extra supplies like salt, sugar, etc. Full size washer and dryer in a small laundry area upstairs, satellite TV, Wifi (if working, more on this later)

Size- having 2.5 bathrooms is a bonus and the 2 full bathrooms are good size, bedrooms are small, especially if you want to use both twin beds in the second room- sofabed solved this.

Now the just ok- clean but not spotless and showing wear and tear.

Sleep- the mattress in the main bedroom really is very hard and tilts down towards your feet (old Building), I had some back issues from sleeping on it, but I am sensitive to this, others may tolerate it ok. There are no black out blinds in either room and in fact there were no blinds up in the second room when we arrived. Bring a mask if the light bothers you. The apartment was clean enough, not spotless, but there were several things that required maintainence and I have told the owner about them so hopefully they are fixed, she probably should spend a night or 2 there once in a while to see what needs repaired.

The lights in the common stairwells were all burnt out, making it impossible to get the key in the door and unlock it without a flashlight- thank goodness for cell phone lights. The blinds as mentioned above, we hung some broken ones and just didn't touch them the rest of stay for fear of them falling off.

Our biggest issue was the Wifi going out early in our stay - the owner was apologetic and had us calling the company and her son to try to get it fixed, we really didn't have the time to do this as we wanted to be out site seeing, and it was all to no avail anyway as it was never fixed for the last 4 days of our stay. Very frustrating.

Communication with owner was o/w good, would stay again if things are kept up better.

Owner's Response: First of all I am pleased to hear that our guests would stay again. It is a shame that when they called about the problem with the Wifi that they did not mention the problems with the lights out in the staircase, nor the blind, as these items could have been rectified very quickly. The lights in the common parts turned out to be a trip switch, and the cleaning lady should have told me about the broken blind which could have been mended straight away.. There was no problem with main bedroom blind, it is not a black out curtain but is a venetian blind, but is dark enough when closed. As far as the mattress is concerned, this is really matter of taste. The apartment is on the third floor (English third floor - American fourth) which is mentioned in the description of the apartment. Not too sure about the remark showing wear and tear. The apartment was completely renovated three years ago, and the living room was repainted this year. I shall check on the cleaning and maintenance. We tried our utmost to solve the problem with the Wifi, but SKY who supplies our broadband and internet , were not being very helpful. It has been a nightmare. We did call the guests and emailed to keep them up to speed and it was not a case of us being able to do anything to rectify the situation. There has been something wrong with the SKY network and we were totally in their hands.

Looking for the ideal holiday property to rent to visit London and all the various attractions - Here it is - situated in the leafy Westbourne Terrace - a whiff of Victorian past with the delightful stuccoed buildings of that era. With the Heathrow Express and two tube stations - Paddington and Lancaster Gate only minutes away. Only a stone's throw from Hyde Park with its walks and horseriding, paths and grass areas and the Serpentine Lido with paddling pool and waterside tables, even swimming in the summer months. A walk across the park to Knightsbridge and if you are a shopaholic this is the ideal shopping area with all the great names and of course the infamous Harrods. Or walk eastwards towards Oxford and Regent street you will find all you desire. If museums are your desire then off to Kensington, again walking across the park, to Victoria & Albert Museum or Science museum. And lastly the largest antique street market of Portobello is not far away.
