Our town house is set in the Chianti Hills just 30 mins from Siena in Borgo di Gaiole and only a short walk away from the village and all your holiday needs. The Borgo offers the best of old and new. Built in traditional Tuscan architectural style with solid stone walls, chestnut beams and terracotta floors, the Borgo also benefits from air conditioning/central heating, double glazing, internet services, launderette, a well equipped gym and an architect designed large pool; together with secure underground parking with lift access.

Ideal for walking and cycling we provide free use of up to 3 adult bikes and offer a series of detailed walking notes for circular hikes around local villages.

The accommodation benefits from private south facing gardens with lovely views over the village fully furnished for al fresco dining, or just enjoy the moment in a pergola shaded hammock. A breakfast terrace with fountain provides your BBQ facilities and a glass of local wine greets you on arrival.

Here are a few of our favourite Local Attractions:

1. Visit Dario Cecchini, the World Famous Butcher of Panzano!

2. Cook your own lunch with Simone at Restaurant Malberghetto (see link below)

3. Enjoy fine dining at Baddia di Coltibuono.

4. Visit the perfect hilltop hamlets of Vertine and Volpaia.

5. Taste the officially Best Ice Cream in the World in San Gimignano.

6. Wallow in one of the best views in Chianti from the Castello di Brolio Terrace.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We've had a fantastic time here this week. The apartment is so welcoming and we've loved making use of the sun terrace with it's beautiful views. The 'red folder' has been very useful and we've managed to tick off most of the 12 recommendations and even did both of the short walks to Vertine & Riecine on a couple of evenings - some steep hills, but well worth the effort!"

Superb

Everything about our stay was excellent. The owner provided very detailed information concerning the property, travel information and places to visit. The property was extremely well appointed and equipped. The wine on our arrival was very welcome!! The staff who looked after the property were very friendly and helpful. The Borgo is in easy walking distance to the small town Gaoile, which is also pretty and friendly. We particularly liked being able to get into Sienna quickly and easily. The 30 minute drive meant that we visited 3 times during our stay. We would recommend this property and hope to visit again ourselves.

Great base for enjoyable Tuscan holiday - but you'll need a car.

  • 4 of 5

An attractive and well appointed/equipped apartment in a tasteful complex, situated high above the small town of Giaole. Patio offers great views of town and ideal location for early morning or late evening refreshments. Excellent support from workers on and off site. We didn't use the communal pool, but particularly enjoyed the opportunities for biking using the cycles provided with the apartment - though the hills are a good challenge in the heat! Siena, Florence, San Gimiagno all within easy reach by car, which we would suggest is essential if staying more than a few days.

The owner, Phil, was a great correspondent and couldn't have been more helpful.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your helpful comments and delighted you enjoyed your stay. Yes, I agree most guests will need a car, both to maximise benefits of local options, and indeed to reach Gaiole in the first instance. Unfortunately, public transport is not the regions greatest strength.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

By far the best part of our trip to Italy! This is definitely a place to visit. The owners Philip an Ann were amazing! They really made this trip special for us. There are vineyards and tastings to do all around the area. Just a few minutes walk to town to have a taste of their pastries and coffees. The tiny town is exactly what we envisioned. The people are so friendly and the area is breath taking. In the Chianti Hills where the vineyards are a backdrop to everything was wonderful to wake up to each morning The apartment was perfect! Loved sitting out on the veranda in the morning. Area is perfect for biking, walking, hiking and a short drive to Sienna(25 minutes) Florence is about an hour or so. But honestly once you come to this little town you won't want to leave. There are just so many little villages around the area to explore. Philip and Ann have a list of things to do and places to see but my favorite was our lunch with Chef Simone! Best meal ever. I can still taste the salted cod! The wines are spectacular but my favorite is a Chianti Classico. Since back in the states that is my go to wine. Thank you Ann and Philip for making our 30th Anniversary so incredibly special and a memory that I will not forget.

Perfect Stay in Gaiole in Chianti

  • 5 of 5

We booked this apartment to be the end of our 3 and a half month British and European holiday. After self-driving, coach tour and cruise we were looking forward to this being a nice place to take time out before returning home to New Zealand. It was just perfect, everything that we hoped it would be. The apartment itself is lovely, equipped with everything you could need. The views from the outside courtyard are amazing, and Gaiole itself is a lovely village. The local people were very friendly and welcoming. We had a fantastic time and would happily stay here again if we had the opportunity. We would recommend it to anyone wanting a great Italian village holiday. Phil was great to deal with, providing all the information we could wish for and was very responsive and helpful. Tip for visitors: Pizza IT in the village makes the best pizzas I have ever tasted. They were so good we had them 3 nights while we were there.

Wonderful Gaiole

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in the Casa Corvo Minore apartement, which was fully equipped, so it lacked nothing. Especially the terrace with the lovely view over Gaiole, was a sight to behold. The kids loved the pool area, so we will definitely return some day.

A little piece of heaven on earth...

  • 5 of 5

Casacorvo Minore -- what a perfect place to call home for six days! Phil was terrific to deal with right from our first enquiry. (And we had the added pleasure of meeting him at the tail end of our vacation.) He was very accommodating, allowing us to arrive earlier in the day on our arrival day and leave later on our last day if we wanted to.

The apartment was spotless and had pretty much everything we could have wanted. We were greeted with a box of local wine, which we thoroughly enjoyed - especially while relaxing on the amazing patio area overlooking the picturesque town of Gaiole. After a busy first week of vacation, having such a relaxing and comfortable place to call home was very welcome. One of our favorite things to do was enjoy our espresso and breakfast on the patio every morning.

The onsite property managers were great and everything was very well-maintained.

The town itself was lovely. And the wineries all around the area were amazing! Such friendly people and amazing wines! (We wrote about some of our favorites in Phil's guestbook!) Make sure you go to Riecine winery and Le Contrade Ristorante (which Phil recommended to us for our last night - best meal and dining experience we've ever had anywhere).

There's a very helpful binder in the apartment with info about all sorts of restaurants, wineries and things to do in the area.

We would absolutely recommend this apartment to others - and in fact, have already.

Location

The picture tells it's own story! A stay in Gaiole in Chianti puts you at the heart of fine wine and fine food.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Florence at 80 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Gaiole Village at 0.3 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Florence at 80 Kilometres Nearest Train : Montevarchi at 19 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Terranova Valdarno (A1) at 23 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Gaiole Village at 0.3 Kilometres Car: recommended

There are over 100 wine producers in Gaiole commune alone, ranging from the world renowned Castello d'Ama through to small family vineyards.

A centre for local business, Gaiole offers 5 restaurants, 3 cafe bars, 2 delicatessens, a great value pizzeria, a tourist office, pharmacy, ATMs and shopping for all local delicacies and holiday needs.

Famous for it's cycling festival, L'Eroica held every year during the first weekend in October, the village also hosts frequent concerts and festivals.

It is an excellent centre for walking and cycling, the Siena-Florence long distance footpath runs along the ridge above the village, and there is a maze of way marked 'strada bianchi' (unsurfaced roads) criss-crossing the surrounding hills and valleys just waiting to be explored.

Vineyards and olive groves abound, amongst which sit the majestic castles of Meleto, Brolio and others, and from the atmospheric ruins of Montegrossi gaze down on your accommodation and wonder at the magic of Chianti
