Modern, spacious, air-conditioned/heated top-floor self-catering apartment. Lift access. 100 m from seafront and marina. Views over islands of Ria Formosa Natural Park. Two main bedrooms can both be set up as king-size or single beds ; and annex area off of the master bedroom has a very comfy chair bed, or the space could be used for a baby cot. Two bright fully tiled bathrooms. Airy lounge and dining area. Balcony area for outside dining, in sun from early afternoon. Free WiFi. UK and German Satellite TV, DVD player & iPod docking station. Well equipped kitchen with water filter tap. Lots of storage space. Shared swimming pool on roof terrace with loungers. Video phone to external door. Electric shutters to windows. Easy, free car parking. Complimentary welcome pack - a few essentials to start you off. No pets allowed & smoking not permitted in the apartment. Easy walk to a variety of shops, restaurants & children's play areas. Large supermarket within 1 km, with others in town. A wonderful year-round rental - great for long stays.

Accessibility: The property is wheelchair accessible from street level via one of two lifts. The rooms will accommodate wheelchair use, although some mobility would be required to use either the 90 cm by 90 cm shower (with corner opening doors), the bath or WCs.

The roof terrace (with toughened glass barriers surrounding) can be accessed by the main lifts. At the roof level, the swimming pool is accessed by a short flight of steps, and there are also two or three steps leading into the pool itself , with no handrail.

The owners of the property have two children and warmly welcome other families to enjoy the property. Please contact us if you have any specific requirements to make your stay with children easier and we do our best to help.

Travel: Faro Airport is 15 min by road. Olhao rail station an easy 15 min walk, with services to Faro, Fuzeta, Lisbon, Spanish border, etc. As all amenities are within walking distance a car is not necessary, unless you want to visit interesting places on the Algarve or go golfing.

Distances: Central Faro 10km - historic old town and great modern shopping centre. 12km to Faro beaches. Loule 25 min drive - pretty inland town. Almancil 25 min drive. 18 km to Tavira. 30 km from Vilamoura. 40 km from Albufeira and 60km from Spanish border. The N125 is the old coast road and passes through several coastal towns, including Olhao. The A22 is the newer road a few miles North - quicker for longer east-west journeys.

The islands of the Ria Formosa Park are well worth a visit - frequent ferries and water taxis from Olhao jetty (a 10 min walk from the apartment) give you access to miles of golden beaches - there are also small shops and eateries on most of the islands.

Additional information: The apartment is managed and serviced by a friendly British husband and wife team, who can be contacted should any problems arise with the rental. They can also provide babysitting services and airport transfers, by prior arrangement.

Within the Village Marina development lies the 5 star Real Marina Hotel and Spa. This has a great range of wonderful spa facilities, which can be booked by non-residents - simply inquire at hotel reception. We can also recommend the hotel's very good Sunday brunch buffet, as well as their evening buffets in high season, and a la carte menus at other times.

All windows have Juliet balconies, with toughened glass and steel balcony walls that are 120 cm high.

Children under the age of 12 years to be accompanied at all times when using pool.

Information about Ria Formosa Natural Park is available at the Park Office, on the Eastern edge of Olhao.

Olhao's famous Shellfish Festival is mid-August, and the Fiera de Laranja is 3rd Sat & Sun in August.

Dear Moira and John,

Writing a review to the homeaway company didn't work, I am sorry to say. I could only write very few words and then the process couldn't be continued. So let me give you our thanks for the wonderful stay in your excellently equipped apartment with the stunning views directly with this message. We enjoyed the time there very much and would give the apartment a 5 star ranking, including the warm welcome and helpful service by Tracey. We were surprised by the substantial welcome package of provisions, which we also liked.

Everything was clean and very well prepared for our stay and we will definitely recommend your lovely place to friends and relatives. It's also nice to have no parking problems and to have excellent shopping facilities so close to the place.

Being able to watch German TV channels in such a good quality also added to

the pleasure of the stay although we also read a lot in the evenings.

We brought a pair of binoculars and could watch the mystery of ebb and flow

closely from the kitchen windows and the balcony. Your apartment is also an ideal place to start shorter walks to the lagoon and of course to the lovely old part of Olhao, so you don't need the car all the time.

We wish you many future guests and we are sure they will like the place

A fully fitted apartment with fantastic restaurants within easy walking distance. Welcome pack included so no dash to supermarket (10 mins walk) needed. Lovely warm (ish) and quiet pool on roof and day long sunshine. Only 15 mins from airport. Ferry to islands is a must and a great experience, beaches safe and clean. Our 4th visit and will be back.

Modern apartment with excellent facilities

A lovely family apartment with masses of space, but also excellent for someone (like myself) who is mobility impaired. There is parking right outside, two lifts, large rooms and one of the bathrooms has a walk-in shower.

It was very nice to be met on arrival, and shown around the flat, which was spotless, with all the comforts one would expect at home, including wifi and English TV! The welcome pack was also much appreciated.

We know Olhao from previous visits, and came here partly because this part of the Algarve is not too touristy, and quite flat. From the apartment there is a very pleasant walk along the waterfront into the town. There are places to rest, outdoor cafes at the excellent market, and restaurants nearby. We also recommend the nature reserve to the east of the town, and visits to Faro, Tavira and Moncarapacho.

Perfect apartment

I have stayed in Olhao before, but this is by far, the nicest apartment that I have stayed in. It is modern, clean and well maintained. Lovely to have a lift to the apartment and I love the electric blinds on the windows. There is everything that you could need from an apartment. The balcony is large with a lovely six seater table and the view from there is superb. The welcome back was so generous. The 10 minute walk to bars and restaurants is a pleasure, along the harbour walk. There is also a cocktail bar a two minute walk from the apartment (Emotions) which also serves good meals, coffees etc from 9am. We want to come back asap.

Perfect Apartment in Olhao

This is our third visit to this property and I have no doubt that we will be returning again in the near future. This is a very modern and well equipped property, there are so many little extra touches that Moira has thought of, it really feels like living in somebody else's house rather than a holiday apartment.

The 37in Samsung TV with English TV Channels streamed over the wifi is very reliable - just out of interest I checked the download speed with my IPAD and it measured just over 40 mbps which is probably better than most of the UK. The pool area is nice and clean and we had this area to ourselves for most of the 2 weeks. You who also meet the Tracy who represents Moira in Portugal who is a really nice friendly and helpful lady. She meets you with the keys and keeps the apartment spotless as well as changing the sheets and towels etc plus a nice welcome pack.

Olhao - we just love visiting this place. I am not a fish person but I have tried and enjoyed so many types of fish, shellfish and even snails at a very reasonable cost at the family run restaurants along the seafront. There are very few tourists here and you are eating alongside Portuguese families. If you wander up the side streets away from the seafront you can find Portuguese bars serving local tapas and local wines at very cheap prices and sometimes with no English menus which can be a challenge but we really enjoy doing this sort of thing and in the main the food was very very good. If you don't like fish all the restaurants offer full meat menus and you can find Italian, Chinese and Indian restaurants as an alternative.

The beaches which can be reached by the local ferries from Olhao are both beautiful and uncrowded. We actually hired a car at the airport for the 2 weeks and had a few trips out to Vilamoura, Tavira as well as the beach at Playa Barill.

To conclude this is a superb and modern apartment situated in an atmospheric Portuguese town and I the Portuguese people and very nice and genuine and we have made a few friends during out visits over there.

Excellent Apartment in Ideal Location

Having stayed in this apartment more than once before, we would have no hesitation in recommending it. As usual, we were met on our arrival at the apartment by the friendly apartment manager to hand over the keys and assist in any way needed. There is a generous "welcome pack" provided which means there is no need to do any shopping upon arrival. The apartment itself is immaculately maintained and comfortably furnished. The kitchen is equipped to an extremely high standard and the filtered drinking water on tap is an extra boon - no need to lug great plastic bottles of water back from the supermarket! On the subject of shopping, apart from the shops in Olhao itself, it is only a short walk to a large supermarket and a Lidl - there is even a shopping trolley provided in the apartment for guests' convenience! Of course, it isn't essential to eat in the apartment as there are many excellent restaurants within an easy short stroll along the waterfront. Even if not planning to eat in, the food market halls are a must to visit. The rooftop pool is a pleasant area to relax and sunbathe and beach towels are provided in the apartment. All in all an excellent apartment and location which we hope to return to on many more occasions.

Everything you could wish for

We have holidayed on the Algarve for something like 30 years and in a good number of its towns and resorts and found this apartment to be the best accommodation yet being newly built to a very high specification. Additionally it is superbly furnished and equipped. Olhao is is a working town with considerable history and aspects of interest and a multitude of superb restaurants. Everything you need is close to hand including help and advice from the charming Tracy the local property manager. Also within easy walking distance is the railway station offering a scenic service to Lagos in the west and Real de San Antonio in the east. We would certainly recommend the apartment to anyone wanting a simple and relaxing break.

A short seafront stroll away from historic Olhao’s famous fish & produce markets, and colourful Saturday morning outdoor market. Many traditional bars and restaurants on the waterfront and in picturesque Old Town. 10 min walk to catch ferries & water taxis to the islands of Armona, Culatra and Farol - miles of sandy beaches and clear sea in the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Olhao waterfront has boat trips and eco tours and children's play areas next to the promenades. Wonderful spa facilities in the 5-star hotel next to the apartment complex. Many golf courses within an easy drive. Good walking trails in the hills to the north. Many local festivals in the summer. Olhao’s Shellfish Festival week is held in August. In July one of the largest motorbike rallies in Europe is held in nearby Faro, with an amazing parade through the city on the final day. 45 min drive to the Spanish border; or take the train and ferry to the border town of Ayamonte with its many shops and restaurants.

A 25% deposit is payable on booking. The balance is payable. with the refundable security deposit, no later than eight weeks prior to the start of the booking. Paypal payments accepted.
