Sleeps 7, 3 bedrooms, each with double bed and one also with a single bed

Unique renovated farmhouse in peaceful hamlet.

Be seduced by the tranquillity, space and comfort of this special place. Comfortably modernised, whilst maintaining traditional oak beams, stone walls, and tiled and wooden floors. Three sunlit double bedrooms. Large main room with well appointed kitchen and wood burning stove. Spacious bathroom with shower and bath. Main room exits onto extensive sun deck and cobbled terrace attracting sun all day. House set within lovely garden and wooded grounds. Situated in a peaceful hamlet of five houses. 20 minutes drive from vibrant market town of St .Girons. Area rich in cultural heritage. Ideal for forest walks, cycling, river canoeing and fishing, horse riding, mountaineering and just relaxing in a hammock in the sun. Nearest airports Toulouse, Carcassonne and Pau.

This area is best suited to people who would like a holiday in a quiet, peaceful mountain environment. There are plenty of interesting walks from the front door of the house and there are numerous maps and guidebooks provided to go further afield into the mountains. It is great for mountain biking and for road cyclists who would like to try many of the local mountain cols. We have two hammocks and there is plenty of space to spread yourself out, both inside and outside the house. We own substantial areas of land surrounding the house so you will not feel cramped. There are 5 houses in the hamlet which is at the end of a road, so no through traffic. Only one house is inhabited all year, the others are French holiday properties. We are on mains water and electricity. The local town of St.Girons is only a 20 minute drive away, 10 minutes on the mountain road, then 10 minutes along the flat valley bottom. St.Girons is a busy market town where you can buy everything you might need.


We booked the farmhouse for the spectacular view from the decking and it didn’t disappoint.

Had a wonderful time here in your lovely home. It was perfect. Peace and quiet, gorgeous surroundings, beautiful weather and everything we needed.

A well equipped house set on the side of a valley.

The house was well equipped with everything needed for our stay. Plenty of room. It is set in a small hamlet and extremely peaceful. The nearest town is about 25 mins drive. There are supermarkets and shops here.

It has a large area of decking with views down the valley to the mountains. The temptation is to stay there all the time.

We did easy runs to the Pyrenees and Foix with its castle. Saint Lizier nearby is well worth a visit. Also went walking up from the house.

Quiet, large terrace, good facilities, clean.

Maison Bastard is a very pleasant gite in the Ariege. It's a nice and quiet spot for hiking in the mountains. Afterwards you can relax on the terrace and look over the valley and the cows below you! We (family of 5 & 1 dog) enjoyed our stay very much.

What a gem. Beautifully appointed house in a beautiful location. Everything you need was there; including an emergency supply of food if you arrive without!

Get away from it all in rural France

This was indeed a house with beautiful mountain views! Plenty of space and everything worked. If you want rural solitude, this is the place for you, but the town of St Girons is close enough for all amenities, including its wonderful Saturday market and friendly people. Don't be afraid of the drive up and down the mountain - just honk your horn on the bends!

A real get away from it all!

Our second visit to this wonderful home. Stunning views from the decking that captures the sun all day. Very peaceful with only the sounds of birds, cicadas and and the village church bell every hour. The house supplies everything you could need for a comfortable stay. We hope to visit again, I'm sure it'll become a 'home from home' for us.

Une excellente location!

Nous avons été enchanté par cette location: maison très agréable et bien équipée, très grande terrasse sans vis-à-vis face à un splendide panorama de moyennes montagnes, le tout dans un minuscule hameau à flanc de montagne... autant dire que si vous cherchez une maison confortable dans le calme et la pleine nature pyrénéenne, c'est un très bon choix. Nos contacts à distance avec les propriétaires britanniques ont de plus été tout à fait faciles et cordiaux.

Our house is 20 minutes drive from St.Girons, a vibrant market town in the foothills of the Ariege. The area is famous for its peacefulness, beautiful mountain and river scenery, delicious local cheeses and a friendly unhurried pace of life.


Ski: The ski area Guzet Neige is within an hour drive of the house www.Guzet-Neige.com. It is a reasonable size and a friendly and family resort without the crowds of a normal alpine resort. The snow can be great - but it is not guaranteed.

  • There are two mountain bikes available for use - these are kept in our barn. There is garden furniture also stored in the barn - a garden bench and an outside table with 4 chairs . The main outdoor table for the extensive sun-decking is stored in the main house. We have two hammocks for use. There is a manual roll-out sun-awning over the decking.
