The Iceland, dream holiday house is an old house built in 1902 and is about 150m2, where easily can stay up to 8 persons. The place Stykkishólmur is about 2 hour drive from the city Reykjavik, in the south-west. Close to the highlights of Iceland. Stykkishólmur is renowned for its stunning beauty with the perfect frame of mountains, high and low, highlighting the scenery. The most famous of these mountains is the majestic and mystical Snæfellsnes Glacier, towering at the coastal edge. Fantastic variety of bird life. There is a choice of restaurants. The locality also offers a range of exciting recreational activities, swimming, museums, golf, historic buildings and, last but not least, breath-taking scenery. Enjoy to sit in the hottub after a walk on a glacier, enjoy the 24 hours of daylight in the summertime. The winter is also fantastic, northern lights and stars.Stykkishólmur was named EDEN-quality destination in Europe 2011. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxA-AYcWNgE
Experience the sound of silence!: Words can not conjure up the magical mystery and wonders of Breiðafjörður Bay and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. This area of the mid-west coast of Iceland has captured the imagination of visitors from all over the world and is fast becoming one of the country's 'hottest' places. For nature lovers this is definitely a 'must see' place when in Iceland.
Lush green valleys and rugged lava fields, craters and salmon rivers are the characterizing contrasts of this part of Iceland. When visiting, you will also have the opportunity to learn about two of Iceland's most famous Viking sons: Erik the Red, who discovered Greenland; and his son, Leif the Lucky, who discovered America.

Sea tours: Seatours is located in the town of Stykkisholmur in West Iceland only just over 2 hours drive from Reykjavik. Our area included the magnificent Snaefellsjokull Glacier, the romantic Hotel Budir, and the Snaefellsjokull National Park. With Ferry Baldur you can also connect to the stunning west fjords with its towering mountains, fjords and white sandy beaches - an odd combination that no one should miss.

Thank you for making our first experience of Iceland so special. This "lovely little cottage" suited us all well, and made a wonderful home away from home.
We loved this charming house that made for an easy base for exploring the pennisula. The home was clean and pictures were accurate. Kitchen was nicely stocked with the basics. We all enjoyed the hot tub with beautiful views of the water. Easy location and owner was helpful with some travel questions. Rugs in the basement bedroom would have been a nice addition but no real complaints. We would highly recommend this property.
The house is in a fantastic spot easily walkable to the harbor and little shops and restaurants in Stykkisholmur. Yet it's very quiet, which we appreciated. The only noise we encountered was the occasional car passing by in the street.
We didn't get a chance to try the hot tub because of some plumbing problems. We understand that Lilja is having the downstairs bedroom and bathroom redone after getting the plumbing fixed. We hope the next people to use the house will enjoy it--it has wonderful potential.
The house is well kitted out overall, and the decor is pleasant. I'd say perhaps the cleaning lady needs to get a little nudge, because the place wasn't exactly spotless when we arrived. Lilja was quick to have the cleaning lady come out to deal with the problem, but it was still disappointing to arrive and find dust and crumbs.
We found the same problem that a previous reviewer had found--several lights not working. One wasn't even connected to the electricity; it was just hanging on the wall. We did let Lilja know about that, so fingers crossed for the next occupants.
Overall, this is a nice house in a good spot. Luckily, most of its issues should be very quick and easy to fix, and then I would recommend the place.
This house is a great location for travel to Snaefllsjokull glacier and driving around the surrounding area. The hot tub is easy to use and it was a great way to relax after a day of exploring. The house is easy to find and the town is very quaint. However, the oven was very dirty with very greasy trays. The downstair shower leaks underneath. There is a dank smell in the downstairs bedroom suite. Many of the light switches don't work or don't have bulbs...not only in the main living area but particularly noted in the downstairs bedroom and the lamp next to the downstairs bed. Towel hooks near the downstairs shower would be a most excellent idea.
We stayed at this wonderful house during our last stop (3 nights) on our two-week Iceland vacation. My only regret was that we didn't have more days to stay here!
The house was exactly as pictured, just a short walk from the harbor and main street activities in Stykkisholmur. The house was clean and the kitchen was ready for anything that we would have wanted to do.
The manager was very attentive and quick to answer any question that we had, both before we arrived and while we were there (I had a question about the wi-fi that was quickly and easily resolved).
We used the house as a base for our time in Snæfellsnes, both to the national park and to the other little towns along the northern coast of the peninsula.
If we're lucky enough to return to Iceland, I would definitely love to use this house as our home away from home again.
Our family of five really enjoyed our stay here, sleeping comfortably, cooking and eating in the kitchen and dining room, enjoying the back deck and soaking in the outdoor hot tub with its view to the bay and its islands. The house made a good destination in its own right and as a base for the ferry trip to Flatey Island and a drive to Snaefellsjokull glacier (which was obscured by clouds and fog the day we visited, but I hear it's nice :)
Dear Anna Maria & Asmundur,
we really enjoyed our two weeks of summer, the great landscape, the diving and friendly people!
We loved our trips out to the islands with our zodiacs and daytrips all over the country.
Thanks a lot and best regards,
Jürgen, Rolf, Ralf, Lothar and Dominik
