Family Easter at Le Tuquet 2014

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful stay at Le Tuquet April 2014. Group of seven adults with an age range from 23 - 55.

Le Tuquet is a beautiful farmhouse with everything we needed, well equipped, clean and tidy. Set in around three acres with views all around. Totally secluded, the only sounds were the birds & frogs and could just hear the kids playing in the village across the valley. Heaven.

There are plenty of seating areas around the house which can be used to chase either the sun or the shade. There is also a large oak framed covered patio area at the back which gives good shade and has lighting - so was good to sit out in the evenings. The pool is superb with large decked areas and plenty of sunbeds.

Le Tuquet is set fairly central for shopping and sightseeing with loads of towns and village's within easy driving distance. We have visited this area several times and this property has ticked all the boxes in terms of location and facilities.

To summarise: Le Tuquet provided a perfect family holiday and we will be returning.

The English owners Karen and Clive were helpful throughout.

We would certainly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in this area.

Le Tuquet August 2011 teens, tots and adults too!

  • 5 of 5

We searched for such a long time for a property that met the needs of 4 teenagers(aged 13-17), two 4 year olds and three tired adults (members from 3 families) ... Le Tuquet was brilliant; very easily accessible from Bergerac airport ... 45 minutes drive to tranquility and beautiful French countryside. Also easy to whizz to nearby towns for croissants, pastries ... all of life's essentials. We went to evening markets, a Prune Festival and spent a brilliant day at a sandy-banked lake ... the weather was marvellous and the house well-equipped. We sat in the terrace every evening and talked and played games with candles on as the sun went down. The littlies and the teenagers loved, loved, loved the generous pool. The DVD collection in the lounge kept the night-owls amongst us happy and my husband was master of the outdoor barbeque! Two small pieces of advice: clever use of ventilation and early turning on of fans will aid sleep in the bedrooms as it gets hot upstairs and put a brightly coloured towel - or have a better memory than us - on the main bedroom beam as it is very low and I did manage to wallop my head! That said, I would have absolutely no hesitation in reccommending Le Tuquet, we all had such a super holiday and were very sad to go home ... no arguments, oodles of space, a practical well-stocked kitchen, loads of linen, games and toys, comfy beds and sofas, outdoor seating for everyone and it's in my favourite region of France!

N.B. 1)The owners were very friendly and extremely prompt with replies to queries. 2) We also highly reccommend Buggs Car Hire (as suggested by the owners)

Owner's Response: Low beams are very common in old French farmhouses, they are an attractive feature of the house, though the cause of many an expletive during the night. I will make sure that I find some glow in the dark stickers to mark them. It does get hot upstairs, and full use of the fans is definitely recommended, on the bright side - if you need to use the fans then the weather is fabulous. The night markets and festivals through the summer months are great, the French are masters at this kind of entertainment

Family holiday in Le Tuquet

  • 5 of 5

Writing this review in January the lazy days in Le Tuquet seem far away. We were two families (3 Adults and 7 kids ages 17-7) and chose Le Touquet for the area (we'd been before), it's isolated location (no one to complain about the noise!),it's great pool and the over all look of the place. Clive's prompt replies and extra information clinched the deal.

We drove down from the Tunnel, it rained all the way except the last 20mins so we were pretty pleased to wake to sunshine the next day, which is pretty much how it stayed for the whole two weeks.

The house was extremely comfortable and very well equipped with plenty of space for us all. The kids loved the pool, the tree house, table tennis and the good weather, leaving the adults to relax and unwind!

Outside the house the local night markets are not to be missed and it's worth visiting a festival. The local swimming lake (to be fair 20min drive) with it's diving platform and pedal boats was a big hit especially with the teenagers. Canoeing on the Dordogne proved a little too much for some, would recommend taking a whole day for it so book early.

Aside from the night markets there are loads of good restaurants to eat in Le Panorama in Laparade (also the best night market) was excellent and Les Ganivelles in the village was good too (walking distance).

As a keen cyclist I found both the on and off road cycling an absolute joy. Given the undulant terrain those who prefer their cycling a bit more gentle might be disappointed!! I even managed to watch a race (tour riders and all) in the local town.

All in all we had a great holiday and would certainly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet and relaxing holiday.

Peaceful retreat in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family had a two week stay here, and we found that the space both inside and out was plentiful.

Everything was to a really high standard and was obviously well maintained.

The setting is as described, and all family needs have been met here. The surrounding area is steeped in tradition, with local markets and town squares with cafes and bars.

Very highly recommended.

Super sejour! Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

Very charming house, with a beautiful landscape and view on the countryside. Very calm and relaxing, but still lots of things to do, in the house and around. The owner was very helpful and had some great recommendations. We strongly recommend this house for families, and groups of friends with kids.

Famous for the quality of its prunes, the local countryside is awash with beautiful plum orchards, though it is often referred to as 'Little Tuscany', its rolling landscape is like the garden of France with sunflowers, vineyards and fields of gold amongst its many Chateaux and pretty villages. Within easy reach are the Medieval Bastide towns of Eymet, Monpazier, Duras, and Monflaquin, with daily produce markets throughout the 'villes' of the area. The night markets are a great way to spend an evening, particularly at LaParade, with its walled town and stunning views of the Lot valley. The beautiful rivers of the Lot and the Garonne are a source of history and activities, as are the many activity lakes of the area. The famous Dordogne river is nearby, so hire a canoe and gently paddle by the spectacular river town of La Roque Gageac, and the Chateax of Beynac, Castelnaud and Milande. The Perigord has some of the most spectacular cave systems and troglodyte paintings to be seen.
