Superb top floor (2nd floor) 1 bed apartment (with additional sleeping in the lounge) within the finest complex of the beautiful & traditional fishing village of Alvor.

The accommodation briefly comprises of the following -

A fully equipped kitchen, inc.a full sized s/s oven/grill, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster & a whole host of utensils etc.

A fully tiled bathroom with full sized bath & shower, glass shower screen & curtain, WC, bidet, basin (within a large vanity unit), 110v hair dryer & plenty of storage for towels & toiletries.

A large & spacious lounge / dining area, incl. A/C unit, LED TV, a newly added dedicated TV box for all UK terrestrial channels plus the full Sky Sports package & BT Sports 1 & 2, a further cable TV set top box (with a large selection of English speaking channels as part of the standard Portuguese & European Zon package), plus hi-speed 100 mbs internet linked to our pre-paid unlimited wifi (more than quick enough to download or stream whatever you feel may be needed via your laptop or tablet for your comfort & ease), a Philips docking station that can connect to all phones etc via the jack lead supplied, a Bosch portable gas heater for Winter bookings, a wall mounted electric 'Dust Buster' hand held vacuum, a full sized vacuum kept in the wardrobe, an L shaped sofa that easily converts to a double bed with bedding storage under, a 2 seater pull out sofa bed, dining table & 5 chairs, plus side tables & a storage unit with a library of books .

A double bedroom, bedside cabinets & sliding wardrobes which houses a digital safe & plenty of coat hangers (I know it sounds daft to state that, but better to be safe & save you packing them).

Our balcony gets the sun in the afternoon/evening, c/w a large yukka plant, table & chairs (fixed & reclining), clothes airer & an electric bbq grill (but please clean this & put back in the wardrobe when used), all with great views of the estuary & village.

We also have a wardrobe in the entrance stocked with iron & ironing board, sun lounger cushions, a cool box, a yellow V da P approved sun brolley and other pool/beach related items all of which are provided for your use.

Towels / fresh linen & maid service is provided on a weekly/bi-weekly basis or as specifically agreed at the time of booking.

Vila da Praia, Alvor is still a traditional, yet beautiful fishing village, which has a lovely harbour, cobbled promenade leading to a myriad of great laid back bars & restaurants.

It is a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing location with lovely sandy beaches & an old world charm all of its own.

Vila da Praia itself has a fabulous swimming pool and a children's pool situated in private gardens, secured by electric gates (both pedestrian & vehicular) & with decorative metal railing fencing to the perimeter.

The complex is centrally located to all amenities, it is a very child friendly environment, the grounds are beautiful, with easy access to the beach, restaurants, bars, leisure centre & the heart of the old town. A big bonus is that it is not on or up one of the large hills like most complexes in & around the village, so the walk in & around the village is a pleasure & not a chore.

The apartment is on the top floor & serviced by 2 lifts within 50m of the front door, so access is not a problem. This also extends to the underground car park where our allocated space is directly adjacent to the lift shaft, making the transferring of luggage & shopping as easy as possible.

Travel to/from the airport can be arranged through us or with local taxi firms in Alvor or Faro, the approximate costs at the time of placing this is somewhere in the region of 60 Euro per party of 4, 65 Euro for a minibus of 5+.

Car hire in Portugal is reasonably cheap, especially outside the months of July & August, but the beauty of Alvor & Vila da Praia is that a car is not required unless you want easy access to the larger out of town supermarkets or you want to explore the rest of The Algarve & all it has to offer.

Hello, we love Alvor & take pride in our apartment, updating it year on year & ensuring that it & you are connected to the modern world & have all your home comforts on hand.

We purchased it initially as our holiday home and for the odd let to family & friends, however, since then we, like most other people, have been affected by the credit crunch (or whatever today's name for it is), so decided to utilise Holiday-Rentals / HomeAway.

I can say that without exception the people that have stayed with us have all treated the place like it was there own & we thank them all for that & hope that that is a reflection of the people using this website.

We do extremely well with repeat bookings, & again, thanks go out to them.

We like to think that we have catered for all eventualities, but if you do have a special request & don't see it listed, please ask & we will endeavour to get something resolved that helps make your holiday more enjoyable.

Excellent location, for the beach and the town, a definite home from home , it was imaculately clean on arrival and had everything you could need. The owner was very good to deal with and always responded promptly to any our enquiries. The contact in the resort ( Jackie) Was great and very helpful, as we didn't arrive at the apartment till lste she got us a welcome pack x

Great apartment! Very homely

Just back from a great stay at the apartment. Really comfortable and in a great position for the beach and centre of Alvor. Supermarket just up the road and spoilt for choice for restaurants and bars just a stroll away! We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to anyone!

Accommodation is excellent very well equipped and as described by owner.

Excellent accommodation, everything you need for a self catering holiday, just pack your clothes and essentials everything else is there, including TV with all the British TV channels plus sky sports. A really nice pool on site with plenty of sunbeds.The apartment is ideally placed for the main village and beach, both only 5 minutes walk plus various bars and restaurants on your doorstep and a good supermarket close by to. Met by the lovely Jackie who looked after us and nothing was too much of a problem. All in all definitely recommended.

Fantastic apartment in ideal location *****

WOW !!! Just returned from a week at this fabulous apartment in Alvor.

Every need is catered for within the apartment and the complex is stunning and first class. The property was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Chris the owner is friendly and very approachable and answered any questions we did have regarding our stay. The apartment is ideally located for both the town and the beach and stunning Estuary. It really is a stunning resort and has lots to offer and we hope to return again sooner rather than later

A genuine 'home from home'

We've just returned from what has been the most fantastic holiday that we could possibly have hoped for. The apartment is stunning and we felt instantly 'at home' there. The facilities at Vila Da Praia are perfect and we sincerely hope to be able to return there again next year after falling in love with the place.

Everything and more

Superb apartment in the best location in Alvor...lovely secure gated complex...if you like to lounge by the pool, this complex has a huge pool with plenty of loungers...the beach is 5 mins away...communication with Chris from start to finish was excellent...Jacqui in resort is a lovely lady and nothing was too much trouble, really made our holiday...a visit to her and Mark's restaurant Marcos is a must and just across the road...this apartment offers you everything, a real home from home, spotlessly clean and a wonderful balcony to enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon sun...highly recommend this apartment.

Location

Because we love it & hopefully the reviews back that up & hopefully, demonstrate that Alvor is a 365 day destination that works for all, whether it be families, couples or pensioners wanting an extended stay to avoid the harsh winters back home. Some of the best weeks we have had have been between October - March.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Faro International Airport at 75 Kilometres Nearest Train : Portimao at 5 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : N125/A22 Motorway - Direct link with Faro & Spain at 6 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Alvor Bay 300m - Wonderful sweeping sandy beach at 0.3 Kilometres Car: not necessary

Golf: The World Class Penina Golf Course is within a 5 minute drive of V da P, as is Alto & numerous others, let's face it the Algarve is a must for any serious golfing enthusiast.

Bird & nature watching is a must from the Boardwalk that encircles the estuary, c/w displays that detail the nature walks available. Dolphin watching trips are also available from the harbour area.

For families we have 3 quality water parks (although Slide & Splash is the nearest & the best), Zoo Marine which is a nature based them park with rides & attractions, including a Dolphin Show that in my opinion is better than we saw in California,

Quad Biking tours up into Silves is a fantastic few hours (although not cheap, it is a real blast) & local boat trips a plenty - Seeing the caves from the sea is a must!

To summarise, for those who think it's going to be like Spain & haven't been to the Algarve before, give it a go & you'll find that it excels in every department - Happy Holidays!

  • The apartment was equipped to suit a family's requirement & is treated as our home from home, so we like to think that all bases have been covered & to a standard above the norm. Alvor is a wonderful resort & really does hold something for everyone, although still fundamentally a quiet fishing village, it does stay open while the early hours in the summer, but should you want something a little more full on Praia da Rocha is only a few Euro away via the plentiful supply of taxis. To ensure your stay is as peaceful & relaxed as it could be we have had an additional set of patio doors & a window fitted to the village side of the apt incorporating sound attenuating glass, so lie ins really won't be an issue. The apartment also has a Bosch portable gas heater for winter bookings should you be so inclined. As I'm sure you will have gleaned already the location of V da P couldn't be better, as everything is only a few pleasant minutes walk away. We really hope you like it too.
