Barcelona - a city with surprices: Directly on the coast you will find the metropolitan city of Barcelona. It is the second largest city on Spain. A modern, cosmopolitan city, but has inherited many centuries of history.
You will always find something to do in Barcelona. It is full of surprises for adults as well as for the children and will keep you entertained with countless cultural and recreational activities throughout the year. The city is the only big European city with a large sandy beach, basically in the centre of town.
Combined with the winding streets of the old town (Barri Gotic), and the pounding big-city life of large shopping streets and virtually a café on every corner - Barcelona is probably the most exciting city in Spain, perhaps in all of Europe.
Museums in Barcelona: The city has more than 50 museums (and 300 in Catalonia), showcasing permanent collections of works by artists such as Picasso, Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies. At the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) you can see one of the world's most important collections of Romanesque art. It also has famous collections of contemporary art housed in museums such as the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) and CaixaForum. Most museums stage temporary exhibitions.
Architect and designer: Antoni Gaudi was at the forefront of the Art Nouveau movement in Spain. While working in Barcelona he created some of the city's most notable and extraordinary landmarks. He was a pioneer in his field using colour, texture, and movement in ways never before imagined. All of is works, the ones he finished himself, as well as the uncompleted (La Sagrada Familia) stands as testimony to his genius. We recommend in particular the Parque Güell on the hill of el Carmel 10 on the outskirts of the city.
Restaurants in Barcelona: If this is one of your first visits to Barcelona, you will never go wring with a stroll around the old quarter (Barri Gotic). Theres is a perfect little cafe virtually on every corner. Go look and you will find. This is in our experience the best way to get the feel for Barcolona. If you prefer planning ahead; the Timeout guide is a good place to start.
The night-life in Barcelona is infamous -and not without reason. There is hardly any place in Europe with a night life anything like this. Whether you want to dance all night to the latest music with the teenagers and 20-somethings, or enjoy a quiet drink in picturesque settings. Go to a concert. Etc. Etc. Barcelona is your city. The possibilities are too numerous to mention.

Great location and super clean!
I have booked properties on HomeAway for years, but this was my first time booking abroad. All communications with Sydens Feriehuse were quickly answered and extremely helpful. The property was as described, if not better! We felt extremely safe in the area. The neighborhood was so charming; we felt we were submerged in the local culture. We could easily get to any area of Barcelona via the subway and connecting with trains, etc. We had everything we needed as far as amenities. But the BEST thing about this rental property was Virginia! She was our local contact, and she was awesome! She was kind, resourceful, hard working, and always available.
Activity and Interests
Grácia is the perfect place for those who look for something different; the area is secure and quiet, and getting there is easy and fast. From the metro station Fontana is 100 m away, the city centre with Placa Catalunya and Las Ramblas is only 3 stops away.
Walking up the boulevard Passeig de Grácia , it is easy to sense that you now enter the neighbourhood Grácia, which was once a village.
The streets become very narrow, limiting the traffic, and the central part of the area has several squares, for instance Placa del Sol and Placa de Libertat. In most streets the pedestrians have preference, so it is very nice to stroll through the neighbourhood with a lot of alternative shops and a lot of atmosphere from the historical buildings in village style.
Even if you do not stay in the neighbourhood it might be worth a visit if you like to sit on a square with a glass and follow life or participate in it. The area is also known for it´s many fantastic restaurants
