This quiet apartment is in an excellent position. Step out of the front door and you are in a bustling lane of bakeries, boutiques, restaurants, delicatessens and a Supermarket. It is ideal for guests attending the conferences as the Palais des Festivals is a 3 minute walk away. Cannes' sandy beaches, the Old Port, numerous moderately priced restaurants, the Forville Fruit, vegetable and fish market are all nearby. As is the Rue d’Antibes and the Croisette with its luxurious shops. The Old Port , harbour with amazing yachts and ferry boats to the Lerins islands, and a fast catamaran to St. Tropez. There is secure public underground parking moments from the apartment (rates on request). The railway station is a few minutes walk away. There is an excellent non-stop coach service from Nice airport to Cannes. The apartment is just a short walk away from the Cannes Hotel de Ville terminal. Perfect location for MIPIM 13 delegates.

The French Riviera

Long before it became the mecca of the sun-worshipping 21st Century tourist, the Riviera was popular among foreigners as a winter resort.

Lord Brougham, the Lord Chancellor of England, was accustomed to the winter in Nice but in 1834 was forced by an outbreak of cholera in Provence to stay in Cannes. He liked it so much he built a house where he stayed until his death in 1868.

Other famous Englishmen who made their home on the Riviera, were the writers Somerset Maugham in Cap Ferrat, Graham Greene in Antibes, and the film actor/writer, Sir Dirk Bogarde, who was President of the Cannes Film Festival in 1984, when he lived near Grasse.

Another foreign colony was the Russian nobility, who until the Revolution in 1917, were regularly joined by the Imperial Court. Their legacy is a number of beautiful Russian Orthodox churches in Cannes, Nice and Menton.

The Americans began to make there mark in the 1920s - Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford from the film world, Ernest Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald, the writers, and the young Americans with Money. They introduced jazz, the music of Cole Porter and sunbathing. There was more jazz at the end of the second world war stimulated by the US Naval base: the Juan-les-Pins Jazz Festival dates from this period.

In the 1930s many German artists in exile settled in Sanary-sur-Mer. Other communities of artists have been established in Vallauris, where Picasso revived the traditional craft of pottery and which now hosts a bi-annual International Festival of Ceramic Art (July to mid October), and in St-Paul-de-Vence, where James Baldwin, the American author lived for many years.

Monaco, where fortunes have been lost and won on the gaming tables, still attracts a significant number of wealthy tax exiles.

Wonderful apartment in the very heart of Cannes

We were really delighted with this apartment, it was exceptionally clean, decorated to a very high standard and was so light an airy - we love the traditional buidings in Cannes with the high ceilings and large windows, and this property certainly didn't disappoint. Having two shower rooms was a real bonus as it meant that even though there were 5 of us there, there was never a queue for the bathroom! It's central location was perfect - just a few minutes from the beach, excellent shops and restaurants were literally on our doorstep, and we were virtually opposite one of the best boulangeries in Cannes, great for our morning croissants. We had a hire car for our holiday, and the fact that we could park for a low cost in the Ferrage car park (2 minutes away) was very useful. Lisa & Clayton made us feel very welcome, and their knowlege of Cannes was fantastic - we certainly enjoyed their restaurant recommendations! We will be back next summer.

Cleaning, linen & towels & breakages deposit:

The rental rate includes a final clean.


A refundable breakages deposit of 800 euros is required , which will returned to you at the end of the stay if there is no damage and keys are returned safely. (Minor breakages such as crockery and glasses will not be charged for). For arrivals after 10pm, or departures before 7am, there is a 50 euros charge.

Payment is by international bank transfer to our account in France.
Departure times:
We request that guests arrive after 2.30pm and depart by 10.00am. However, we will do our best to be flexible. If you would like to stay in the apartment after 10.00am because you have a later flight home, a late check out can be arranged free of charge - as long as prior notice is given, and there is not a booking immediately after yours.
