Labetxea is a charming six-seater country house, located in Baraibar, on the way to the San Miguel de Aralar Romanesque Sanctuary, in the Sierra de Aralar, located between San Sebastian-Donostia (Gipuzkoa) and Pamplona-Iruña ( Navarre).
The house is warm and cozy. On the ground floor are the kitchen, the dining room and a toilet. On the first floor, there are three very large and beautiful double bedrooms, a spacious bathroom, and a reading room. It has a private parking and is located in the quietest area of the town of Baraibar.
The most interesting thing about Labetxea is its location, the rustic charm of the house, the activities and gastronomy of the valley and the beauty of the nature that surrounds us.
We love to enjoy a personalized service. We cannot forget our travel companion Argi, Basque shepherd dog, who is very affectionate and very friendly to our friends.
The town of Baraibar has a bar-restaurant and a grill. In Lekunberri, 3 km away, you will find all the services and a gastronomic offer of the best and most varied.
Labetxea is very well connected to the rest of Navarra, the Guipúzcoana coast and the French Basque Country by the A-15 highway.
Within what can be done in the surroundings, we can mention the following:
In Astiz, one of the villages of the valley, is the cave of Mendukilo that is recommended to visit because of the importance of its stalagmites and stalagtites and the incomparable natural setting where they are located.
The source of the river that gives its name to the valley, Larraun, is a beautiful walk that takes place from the neighboring town of Iribas. One is lost among forests of oaks and old chestnut trees on the banks of the river that permeate the atmosphere of a wonderful natural charm. Children can approach perfectly to the very head of the river.
The Plazalola greenway, the old train track that connects the towns of Navarra and Guipúzcoa, has many possibilities for easy walks with children. The different sections offer beautiful views of the valley as a whole. Bicycles are rented at the information and tourism office.
For excursions throughout the day we can mention the Basque-French part of San Juan de Luz, Biarritz, Bayonne and other beautiful villages in the interior.
The ancient capital of Guipúzcoa, Tolosa, where lively weekly fairs are held, on Saturday mornings.
San Sebastián well known for its beauty and where we can also make children enjoy in the Aquariun, located in the same port and the traditional amusement park of Monte Igueldo from where you can admire the entire bay.
The city of Vitoria is also interesting because of its old town, parks and its cathedral, which is visited inland through all of it through the scaffolding placed for repair. Nor can we forget the highly recommended Natural Museum of the same city.
Pamplona, which is half an hour away by car, is well worth visiting its old part, where to recompose the route of its famous enclosures, to visit its walls, to visit the museum of the father of Basque sculptors Oteiza, etc ...
And of course the Guggenhein museum in Bilbao.
