About this property

Bon bini! We invite you to be our guests in our Caribbean home on the beautiful island of Curacao. Your master bedroom looks through the shady garden to the ocean. Bring your coffee out to the deck in the morning and watch the fishermen heading out to sea followed by the frigate birds and brown footed boobies. Glimpse a sea turtle cruising by or if you are lucky pods of whales or dolphins cruising up the coast. Since we face west you won't want to miss sunset out there followed by a night sky awash in stars.

Walk in either direction, through our sleepy village of Lagun, to one of two neighborhood beaches. Cook in or dine out at one of many nearby restaurants. Tour the island's rural west end to find cozy beaches, beautiful beach entry dive sites, amazing hiking and mountain biking trails. Drive into Willemstad, a world heritage port capital, for shopping, dining, museums or to watch the tugs guiding huge tankers into port.

Sol Patch Lagun

My husband and I had such a lovely time in Lagun, and Sol Patch was the perfect place to stay- in a quiet location, but close to the beach and restaurant. Lisa and Joel were the perfect hosts, and gave us lots of advice on places to go that we wouldn’t have otherwise have discovered. It would have been easy to spend the days sitting on the deck, and snorkelling off the steps. We wish we’d had longer. Thankyou Lisa and Joel for sharing your beautiful space .

Perfect spot for 2

Our stay was wonderful. Joel and Lisa are wonderful hosts who were happy to accommodate any requests we had. Their place is located in a perfect spot on the western part of the island, which in our opinion, is the best part of Curacao. We had easy access steps right into the water, a comfortable bed, a mini outdoor kitchen that had everything we needed and even fresh aloe was offered for our sun burns! They also have a secret connection to a neighbor friend who will make you the best dumplings you’ve ever had and deliver them to your door. It was really perfect.

Paradise

My wife and I had an amazing time. Property was even more beautiful than we had dreamed. Very easy to relax on the property and soak up the incredible views. 2 beach’s within walking distance with many more just a short drive away. Joel and Lisa were excellent hosts and always answered any questions we had regarding the island. Would highly recommend to everyone.

Beautiful and Cozy

Beautiful and cozy place to stay. The outdoor space was perfect for cooking and dining. Absolutely loved the deck space. We spent most of our time there relaxing, watching the ocean and drinking coffee in the morning. Swimming off the steps was beautiful and the visibility was amazing. The place is centrally located near the beaches and restaurants. What makes the place so special is Joel and Lisa who live there too. They are absolutely wonderful people. Very helpful with questions and suggestion for restaurants and site seeing. There two little dogs are super sweet we enjoyed their company too. We went diving with at Bahia the local dive shop. Wonderful people to work with. We had an amazing time in Curacao and will be returning and staying here again.

Amazing

From our first communication with Lisa and Joel until the minute we checked out we felt we were with friends. The apartment is comfotable, fun, and kitschy, and the outdoor kitchen has everything you need to cook basic meals. The highlights for us were the day bed perched 30’ above the ocean, the direct access to the water for crystal clear snorkeling,

Originally from upstate NY, we are international school teachers who have spent our careers living and teaching abroad. Our first posting was on Curacao back in the 1990's and after nearly 20 years in Asia and the Middle East, we've finally returned to our beloved island.

Why they chose this property

Unlike many properties on the island, we have gone to great lengths to preserve the large trees planted years ago by the original owner. The house was designed to face the trade winds and we've taken advantage of them as well so that during the heat of the day you can sit out in the shade of the garden and keep comfortably cool.

What makes this property unique

The village of Lagun, on the west end of the island, puts you in the center of island life. Removed from the hustle bustle of the big all inclusive resorts you'll see authentic island life on a daily basis. Explore our beautiful secluded coves and beaches perfect for snorkeling, diving and sun bathing. Hike or mountain bike on miles of off road trails. Climb Mount Christoffel in the national park just minutes from the house.
The Nina Sanchez art gallery is a must see when you go to Willibordous to photograph the pink flamingoes in the old salt pans. Stop for a beer or cold coconut water at any of the local roadside "tokos" and don't be surprised if one of the local guys shows up riding his beautiful Passifino horse and ties it up next to your car. Sit in the garden and be surrounded by birds, watch our resident Kestrels building their nest in the next door neighbor's roof or watch for dolphins (and the occasional pod of whales) from the back deck. You can cook in or try any number of local restaurants in the area - you won't want to miss the goat stew in Barber, David and Sunshine's pizza at Sol Food in Westpunt, Indonesian night at Landhuis Daniel or any of the delicious dishes at Trio Penotti next to the national park. We love the west end of Curacao and have loads of ideas to make your stay with us memorable.
