Casa de Calhariz

The estate is situated 40 min away from Lisbon. Set within a 2720 acres private property, partly in the Parque Natural da Arrábida, including a 55 acres vineyard, the semi-attached houses, next to the Palace of Calhariz, offer a privileged view of the Arrábida hillside. Each house has a large living-dining room, 2 or 3 twin bed rooms, 1 master double bed room, a fully equipped kitchen and 2 or 3 bathrooms. Central heating and TV cable are included and the houses are cleaned twice a week. The 14x6m pool is available for guests. Horseback riding lessons are available upon request and excellent trekking can be enjoyed in close contact with nature. The famed 'Queijo de Azeitão' cheese is produced in the estate and is available for sale.

A estadia foi curta apenas de 2 noites mas adoramos tudo, tanto que todos nós queremos repetir para o ano ficando 3 noites. Temos conhecimento que este ano foi uma experiência para as Casas de Calhariz mas esperamos que a repitam para podermos usufruir deste Turismo Rural fabuloso. As casas são maravilhosas, são enormes, o espaço livre que as rodeia é maravilhoso o Sr. que estava lá foi muito atencioso, até ligou o aquecimento um pouco antes de chegarmos para as casas já estarem quentinhas quando chegássemos. Resumindo foi uma estadia óptima em que queremos repetir não só na próxima Passagem de Ano como em principio na Primavera/Verão quando começar o calor. Lúcia Gaspar e Amigos

Main nearby attractions are the unspoiled beaches around Arrábida such as Portinho da Arrábida,Galápos, Figueirinha and Sesimbra. The village of Sesimbra has a long seaside walkway with numerous coffee shops, bars, seafood restaurants and its romanic castle dating back to 1200 A.D.. A drive in the Arrábida hillside offers incredible sea views and lost in the hills you can find the secluded 'Convento da Arrábida' founded in 1542 visitation upon request. Within a 20min drive there are charming villages and picturesque sights with restaurants such as Azeitão and Meco. In nearby Cabo Espichel lies the Sanctuary of 'Nossa Senhora do Cabo', the county's most important architectural ensemble and you can find several dinosaurs trails from the Jurassic and Cretaceous geologic periods. The endless empty sand beaches of Tróia can be reached by ferry from the nearby city of Setúbal crossing the Sado river where you can see residing dolphins and scubadive.Lisbon is 40min away by the A2 highway.
