About Nick & Jill Lindsay

I am a semi retired farmer living in Northern Ireland, We have a large family, all of whom enjoy skiing and mountain life in general.

Nick & Jill Lindsay purchased this chalet in 2007

Why Nick & Jill Lindsay chose Leysin

We came to Leysin to stay with friends, fell in love with the place and ended up building this chalet. We love the peace and quietness of our location at the bottom of the village. In summer we can enjoy our quite large garden and the fantastic walks and hikes in the mountains. Leysin has some of the most dramatic scenery I have seen anywhere in the Alps. We do most of our skiing in Diablerets and Villars, which are less than 15 minutes away by car and on the same lift pass as Leysin. Huge ski area and very rarely any queues. Leysin skiing is great but not as extensive as the Diablerets/Villars area.

What makes this chalet unique

Modern, warm, comfortable chalet. Wonderful views, very quiet and peaceful. Brilliant for both summer and winter.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a fantastic time. The awful weather put us under pressure to make it the best possible holiday for the kids. We left in the mornings and hit the acqua park, Cailler chocolate factory, Lausanne reptile centre, St Bernard dog centre in Martigny, Chateau Chillon, toy shops in Lausanne. We packed it in and were able to do all of that in the rain.

When it cleared we took a few trips on to Vevey and Montreux on the old boats, went to Les Mosses market, Berneuse and Martigny Labyrinth Park. We also hung around Leysin.

The sheer beauty and comfort of the Chalet was a refuge in the rain and a paradise in the sun.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and this was due in no small part to Chalet Le Renard.

Amazing Chalet in a lovely village in the Swiss Alps.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our two children stayed here in summer in the beautiful alpine village of Leysin. We could not have wished for anything better. The Chalet was perfect for what we wanted and well equipped to keep the kids happy while my wife and I relaxed on the deck enjoying the view. Leysin is perfectly placed to explore much of what Switzerland has to offer. Great walking trails and hikes at your door step. Kids did not want to go home.

The buzz word of our stay was "wow". I think we all said it about 50 times each per day.

I would recommend it to anyone thinking about staying here.

Even better than the photos!

  • 5 of 5

The property has a really nice living space, with patio doors to 2 aspects that can be opened in nice weather. The views are amazing, and the location is one of the best in Leysin: it's a little outside the centre, on a very quiet street, but no more than 10 mins walk from lunch/dinner places (from crepes to pizza/pasta to Chinese to fondue...). There are also several supermarkets in town, where you can find pretty much anything.

The garden offers an attractive space to sit out. We had a fox and a small deer wander through while we were there!

The washer/dryer are a nice touch, and there's tons of utility space in the basement for drying. Plus the owners have a great set of board games and jigsaw puzzles, for quiet evenings in.

There are plenty of nice local walks, including to the nearby Gentian Garden, and it's about 5 mins walk to the nearest sports centre, which has outdoor tennis courts. There are also some nice mountain walks, especially if you take the gondola up to Berneuse.

Leysin is also a good base for visiting places like Geneva, Bern, Gruyere and Lucerne - easy motorway driving, plus beautiful mountain vistas if you're happy with back roads. Aquaparc's also a great option if you have kids.

The owners were always available for questions, and the property instructions were very clear.

Overall, if you're looking to stay in this part of Switzerland, this is a great option, which we can't recommend highly enough.

Great location, great house, great owner

  • 5 of 5

Everything about our two week vacation in Leysin was wonderful. We loved this house with its bright, clean and spacious interior. Bedrooms are all very comfortable with comfy comforters. Kitchen is adequately equipped. The outside terrace is lovely. We ate al fresco almost every night enjoying the local wines and cheeses. (The laiterie in Leysin is excellent). Excellent wifi. Even foosball and ping pong in the basement. Everything perfect.

Nick, the owner, does a fantastic job managing rentals. Very prompt and communicative. He answered all our questions and gave advice activities and getting around.

Leysin is wonderful in early summer. Great views in every direction. So many gorgeous hikes. Tour d'Ai is spectacular with great views in every direction. Grocery stores and many restaurants all within walking distance. Neighbors are very friendly. We loved hanging out with nearby cows and goats. While not required, it was nice having a car to go to hikes and attractions. We visited Zermat one day (very crowded and expensive) and were so glad we chose Leysin. Absolutely perfect location. Wish we could have stayed all summer.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

My family spent the Christmas holiday at Chalet le Renard. The chalet is charming, clean and warm. We only had one very minor issue arise during our stay and Nick made sure it was taken care of immediately. The views are breathtaking, and cannot be fully appreciated from the photos. Leysin is a quaint town with plenty to do when we stayed local, but also a great point from which to explore the surrounding area. We enjoyed day trips to Chamonix, Zermat, Gruyeres and Bern. Highly recommended for any relaxing vacation.
