Discover this delightful unspoilt area of France from the comfort of our well equipped cottage, situated on one side of a spacious courtyard of traditional farm buildings. Found 'down the end of the lane' Chabrenas is surrounded by woods and meadows providing a peaceful and tranquil base from which to explore. Relaxing drives take you along lazy rivers to chateaux, picturesque market towns, lakes with swimming beaches or the ancient Cities of Limoges and Brive, as well as the Lot and Dordogne valleys. The cottage and garden with patios allow you to experience a quiet and peaceful setting. a perfect base for a holiday in France.

The delightful electrically heated cottage has exposed beams throughout. The Lounge area centres around a large oak beamed fireplace with a wood-burning stove having three seater settee and another chair. There is a television, DVD player and provision for English and French television.

Kitchen/ Dining Area has a large table with four chairs and kitchen has been equipped to a high standard with full size dishwasher, fridge freezer, cooker and microwave.

Leading off this open plan living area is the main bathroom with shower cubicle, wash basin and toilet.

The stairs lead to the landing area. The cottage has two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with two single beds. either of these bedrooms could also accommodate a cot / travel cot if required.

here is also a separate toilet / wash basin room upstairs. Washing Machine is situated in nearby Bread Oven building and tumble dryer available by arrangement.

Wonderful peaceful location

We had a very peaceful week at the cottage. It is a good location for visiting many sites in the area. Jenny and David are warm, welcoming and helpful hosts. The facilities at Chabrenas are first rate.

Great recommendations for local restaurants.

Highly recommended asa great base within the Limoges area.

A little gem

A haven of peace and quiet in a delightful area of France.Jenny and David are unobtrusive but the most helpful of hosts.The cottage is extremely well equipped and the area superb for walking.We enjoyed our stay so much that we are already planning to return next year.

Delightful little corner of France

Chabrenas was our base for our six week stay in France this year. The cottage has everything you need to make it a home away from home and the owners Jenny & David have thought of everything! Their attention to detail in equipping the cottage is second to none and they are there if you need them to offer any help and advice.

There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas, and we found the cottage very peaceful and relaxing. Jenny and David have put together a very comprehensive file of things to do in the local area, including easy to follow directions to the shops and supermarkets, restaurants and tourist sites. There are also many leaflets with details of walks from short to long in the beautiful countryside.

The village of Meuzac which is a couple of KMs away has a butcher and baker and a really nice restaurant by the lake.

Jenny and David are a very personable couple and nothing is too much trouble for them - by the time we left it seemed that we had known them for years, they really do make you feel at home and do everything they can to ensure that you enjoy your holiday - so much so that we have booked again for 2016 and cant wait to be back in Chabrenas!!

Cosy and Comfortable

Peaceful location in this beautiful part of France. We were spoilt with unseasonably mild weather, but still managed to get the log fire sparked up for a cosy evening in after exploring the fantastic countryside all day.

Jenny and David were most welcoming and friendly. The Cottage had everything we needed and was clean and nicely laid out.

Clear skies good for stargazing, the Sunday market at Objat and trip Brive worthwhile. A steak cooked on the open fire at the Auberge de l'etang is highly recommended (the carpaccio starter was the best ever!). A couple of hours away on good driving roads, the prehistoric paintings at Grotto de Font de Gaume is amazing and must for a great day out.

Perfect for a quiet and relaxing break.

A delight

What a wonderful holiday venue. The cottage is very well equipped, and has been furnished with great care. It is very comfortable, and the whole setting is peaceful and relaxing.

Jenny and David are very welcoming, yet unobtrusive hosts, who are willing to provide help and ideas if needed.

The location is ideal for walking, swimming and cycling, and cultural visits. Definitely to be recommended.

Bright sunny home from home.

The Bergerie is a bright clean very well maintained and a charming holiday home. Very well provided with all we needed, a home from home. The area offered many walks through the unspoilt Limousin countyside where we found cherry trees ripened to perfection! Jenny and David were very welcoming and a mine of local information about things to see and where to go. A very relaxing place for a holiday.

Chabrenas is situated in the beautiful countryside of the Haute Vienne Department of the Limousin. It is ideally situated close to the main A20 Autoroute (10 mins) if you wish to travel quickly to the attractions of the area. However, if you prefer you can take gentle drives down country lanes and wend your way to visit chateaux, such as Hauteforte or nearest Coussac Bonneval, still inhabited by the Marquis de Bonneval. Otherwise follow the route of 'Richard the Lionheart', stop and sample food and wine in some of the prettiest villages in France such as Segur le Chateau, Montemart, St. Robert, Collonges la Rouge and Turenne, or relax by one of the many swimming lakes in the area. Wend a little further and visit the unique sights of Sarlat-la-Caneda, Rocamadour or Cirq la Popie, a few of the picturesque villages that make up the Dordogne and Lot Valleys.

Chabrenas is close to the cultural areas of Limoges (30km) and Brive (50km) both of which have cathedrals, many shops, museums, theatres and plenty of local history. Many summer festivals, classical concerts are held in local towns during July and August.

Horse Racing is held every Wednesday and some weekends during July / August / September in Arnac Pompadour. Horse riding is also available from a local centre in St Germaine Les Belles (10 mins away)

There are many chateaux to visit including our local Coussac Bonneval (8km) also La Grenerie, Hautefort, Arnac Pompadour, Jummillac le Grand and a bit further afield Turenne, Castlenau and Montal.

Brive, Limoges, Objat, St Yrieix la Perche, La Croisille sur Briance are among some of the market towns and all have shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants.

Oradour sur Glane is also just northwest of Limoges and this village was the scene of a 2nd world war massacre by the Nazis.

Spectacular caves can be seen at Grotte de Roc, Goffre de Padirac and the cave paintings of Grotte de Lascaux

Golf: eighteen hole golf courses are within easy travelling distance. Limoges being the nearest having two courses, Golf de la Porcelaine at Panazol 18 hole/par 72 and Golf de Limoges Saint-Lazare, 18 hole/par 72. Golf du Coiroux at Aubazine 18 hole/par 70. Golf de Brive an 18 hole/par 71. Golf de la Jonchere in Gouzon 18 hole/par 72. Golf de Bouganeuf 9 hole/par 28. Also courses at Golf de Neuvic d;Ussel 2 x 9 hold/ par 35 and 27, Golf de Saint Junien 18 hole/par 72 and Golf du Chammet in Peyrelevade 9 hold/par 35

There are local swimming lakes in Meuzac, St Germain les Belles, Masseret and St Yrieix la Perche with beaches and small restaurants / snack bars.

Short walks can be taken within the bounds of the property and there are plenty of longer signposted walks or cycle rides around the locality.

The Vezere, Lot and Dordogne valleys are all within easy travelling distance with their stunning views and pretty villages .

If you love Star gazing - the Limousin area is a must! At Chabrenas if all the outside lights are off we have no light pollution and you can sit and watch the stars for hours - a wonderful sight.

Chabrenas has several really good restaurants within five minute drive.
