absolutely amazing place highly recomend for large groups!! 5 star plus!!

  • 5 of 5

this place is truly beautiful, it has everything you could need for a fantastic break with friends or family. We were a group of ten fun loving and noisy ladies who were there for a friends 40th birthday, we partied, chilled, relaxed, ate, drank and generally had a ball!! and this place suited us down to the ground. The barn is done to such a high standard from the bedding and towels to the kitchen utensils. It has a beautiful layout that has to be seen to appreciate as the pictures on he website don't do justice to how amazing this place is. The owner Trish was so friendly and welcoming with out being obtrusive at all. She is onsite if you need her but we didn't see her from our welcome until we checked out on the Monday. We will absolutely be booking up again and I urge anyone looking to host a family or friends weekend to get booked up...you wont be disappointed!!!.

STABLES - 12 JULY 2014

  • 5 of 5

We found the accommodation impeccably clean, modern and situated in beautiful surroundings. The hosts Tricia and Paul were extremely helpful and friendly. We have also stayed in the large, spacious and again very modern Barn. Idea for large celebrations. Would stay there anytime.

Fantastic place for a large family stay

  • 5 of 5

The property is of a high standard with fantastic facilities including a well-equipped kitchen that meant we could cook for all 11 of us easily. The scenery in the area is rugged and breath-taking, and the local pub did great food. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Recommended!

HEN WEEKEND "SPOILED"

  • 2 of 5

The Barn and location were fine and as described, clean and tidy. We had booked for a Hen Party of 12 for my daughters forthcoming wedding. We arrived just after 3pm on the Friday and were met by Trish the owner, who promptly told us there was a family of 4 coming into the joined on Stable next door. We were then shown the rooms where two of the beds were not made up ,which was odd as the booking was for twelve people. She showed us around an went back to her property across the courtyard. We had a great first night but I awoke to find a text on my mobile from Trish which had been sent at 11.20pm on the Friday night asking us to turn the music down and close the Barn windows, which we were all really astounded by considering it was a hen weekend. The long and short of the matter is that the Saturday evening was totally ruined , mainly because of a few of us being worried about enjoying ourselves in case we were making what owner found to be too much noise. We spoke several times to the two couples (not a family of 4 ) who were next door and they wanted to make it clear that they had not made any complaints and in fact had felt like bringing a bottle along and asking to join us, so in fact the only person complaining was the owner. There were disagreements within our group as while a few of us were really taken aback and quite stressed out about the text message from Trish regarding the music etc, especially timed at 11.20pm that we were keep telling the others to keep the noise down and keep the windows closed the other girls were absolutely furious that the booking and money had been taken for a hen party in the first place. We arrived just after 3pm on the Friday and were all packed up and home by 1pm on the Sunday. The point of this review is to make other potential groups wether it be Hen Partys or any other group celebration AWARE that if you are wanting to really let your hair down, dance, sing whatever and stay up past 11.30pm THIS, although a lovely premises in a lovely area is definitely not the place for you. Positives: Lovely local pub The Kirkstyle inn were very welcoming and served absolutely delicious food at the Saturday lunchtime. Last thoughts: If someone is letting out a property for hen partys etc surely they should be prepared for late nights, music etc;. lot of money for one night and only pleased that I did not have any reason to check my phone on the Friday night or the whole weekend would have been ruined.

Owner's Response: Thank you for leaving your review. I appreciate your comments regarding how lovely the Barn and location are. With regard to the noise, my decision to send a polite text asking that the noise be reduced was measured and thoughtful. It was sent after more than six hours of loud music and singing as midnight approached. As a responsible owner, I have a duty of care to all guests at Broadmea and made the request out of respect for others also entitled to an enjoyable stay. All beds at Broadmea are made fresh on arrival day with the exception of two which form part of the family room configurations and guests are welcome to move or use these as needed. I do not routinely make these up as they are easier to move about unmade. I do provide clean linens for these beds, I explain clearly where bedding is located and I am more than happy to make them up, just ask. It is regrettable that members of your group did not enjoy their weekend as much as hoped. In my experience here at Broadmea all large groups, whether hen party, birthday party or anniversary, happily show consideration with regard to noise levels and still thoroughly enjoy their stay. In fact, in over eight years of business, I've not had a complaint and all groups who've submitted reviews highly recommend. I look forward to welcoming my guests whatever the occasion.
